Insane stat - thanks for posting. Ryan Mutombo and Jordan Riley are the only ones still around from the next class, correct? The day's not over.

If this happens, that Xavier game could be a real doozy.

If the Administration is involved (as opposed to the coaching staff), is there a scenario where the Administration would sack Ewing to avoid a mass exodus of players after exams? It seems like players could engage in a vote of no confidence with their feet- forcing the Administration’s hand. Is this a pipe dream?

Nah the admin has proven that they will sacrifice anything and anyone to protect Ewing

If this is true then this is the only realistic cause that would trigger the university to fire him mid season I think. This would be an absolute embarrassment

This WOULD be an absolute embarrassment?
As if we are not already there. Disciplinary dismissals? Check
Mass transfer Exodi? Check
Criminal charges? Check
APR in the toilet? Check
Empty arena? Check
Persistent, inexplicable, ridiculous, almost comical losing? Check
Tone deaf Coach? Check
Coterie of Thompson based leeches on payroll? Check
We are long past embarrassment and well into complete disgrace to the University.

I try to be cautious about reacting to unsubstantiated rumors, but sadly this rumor is not so farfetched as to be "wild" or "unrealistic". To the contrary, I expect player departures and the only issue in my mind is whether we can field a team of at least 8-9 players after the semester. As for Dante leaving in particular, I am happy for the kid, but to be fair to Ewing, Harris was given free rein--too much so--and an incredible stage on which to display his talents and for that he should be forever grateful to the coach and the school.
What is more depressing is the fact that a Hoya legend has stubbornly clung to his dream of being a successful head coach despite 5+ years of evidence to the contrary. An oversized ego is a terrible attribute and it will seemingly assure that what he will be remembered for by anyone under 50 is his complete failure as a coach and not his skill and determination as one of the all time greats on the court. I hope that when this fiasco ultimately comes to its merciful end, Ewing can restore his reputation as one of the pillars of the program and not the final nail in its coffin.

Keep in mind that this random guy on Twitter called Fire Patrick Ewing has 17 followers. Also “multiple players including Dante Harris” could mean just one more guy. Not that that wouldn’t be big news.
Just saying take it with a grain of salt.

players transferring does not even phase me anymore. It's not like this year's team has won a single meaningful game (other than Syracuse last year -the slight exception that proves the rule), just like last year's team. The players are irrelevant at this point. And with Dante gone - it is not like there are any players left who have devoted more than one year to the program, so loyalty to individual players is pretty much a non-factor. Only Ewing and Ronnie matter, and as long as they are in charge - the revolving door of players (and assistant coaches) is just a distraction from the actual reasons for the program's demise.

The tv broadcast timeout huddles give some small insight into Coach Ewing’s coaching and motivation techniques. I’ve never been impressed with these small snippets of his abilities.
I study the players faces and I just can’t imagine any of them are getting much out of what is being delivered.

Oh I absolutely agree but this would be a second mass exodus early in the season so this really could not be ignored like the rest of the stuff above

Patrick Ewing could shoot a freshman on O Street and wouldn't lose an ounce of administration support. Same levels of cult of personality involved with original quote.

Was at the game yesterday. Just looking at the players faces -- especially the bench players -- this rumor doesn't surprise me. No way if I'm Ryan Motumbo I stay at GU. Would be different if I was playing behind a truly great center or was getting some significant pt as a backup. But Wahab is a disaster and I don't think Ryan has played more than 10 minutes total in all nine games. He has to see his college playing career flashing before his eyes.
