I hope Billingsley is tearing it up. I believe that Ryan Mutombo will play a lot. Not a slight against Tim but I be,I eve Ryan is a leader and that he can knock down a perimeter jumper.

I think he plays but mostly out of necessity. Freshmen bigs being ready for big minutes is a rarity but Tim just isn’t a power 6 starter.

His hair is five inches by itself pal! So Mutombo is actually only 6-6. LOL! I would love to see him in cornrows! Hahahaha Ahahahaha!

You don't even have Riley in there. Probably should wait to assess till some of the games in Nov-Dec. I wouldn’t expect Riley to start, but of course we’ll have a much better idea by December what our lineup in the Big East will be. Guys like Riley and Billingsley are decent recruits that you’d want to probably come off the bench freshmen and most of sophomore year before taking over big roles on the team as upperclassmen. It’s unfortunate that they will need to play so many minutes as freshmen but hopefully their struggles this year aren’t damaging in the long run. Given how this program has operated they’ll probably all be gone by the time they’re juniors anyway but assuming they stay I would love to just see consistent improvement. It's actually not the worst thing in the world as long as Tre comes back by Big East Play as it gives the freshman and bench time to develop and get PT. This was one of the biggest problems in the JTIII era as the games were always so closed during OCC that he had to play the starters and could never develop the bench before Big East play.

I’m going to go with: G: Harris (30), Beard (15) G: Carey (25), Riley (15) Wing: Mohammed (30) Wing/Big: Clark (20), Holloway (15), Billingsley (5) Big: Ighoefe (20), Wilson (15), Mutombo (10)

Between G and W, Rice will get at least 20 mpg.

Dang it, take 2: G: Harris (30), Beard (15) G: Carey (25), Riley (15) Wing: Mohammed (30), Rice (25) Wing/Big: Clark (20), Holloway (10), Billingsworth (spot minutes) Big: Ighoefe (15), Wilson (15), Mutombo (spot minutes) As you can see I think our strength is in our guards and wings. Losing King is huge. I’m of the belief that Mutombo and Billingsworth will probably need time before they are ready. If we can shoot threes and play a more switchable defense style we should be able to stay in games.

Not saying Mutombo would be playing major minutes on most teams, but on this roster I really think he’ll be playing more than just spot minutes. He’s way more skilled and athletic than Tim, and Tim doesn’t have all the much more experience or size.

He is probably the top big offensively and probably the most mobile without even playing a game in college yet with the current roster. Unless Ewing plays a lot of small ball or Tre does actually come back he will see his fair share of minutes.

Tim is a better athlete than Ryan imo. Ryan definitely more skilled. Is he strong enough to bang and hold position against guys? We will see…

We will see… Ryan is definitely athletic just from watching his highlight tapes. The only advantage I'd give Tim is physicality. I know it's just practice but that video of Tim getting beat so badly on that pump fake from Ryan does not speak very well for his defense and quickness.

Tim has always been very mobile for his size, the issue was he didn’t always know where to move to! Hopefully that changes this year.
Ryan looks very strong for a freshman. I think he’ll handle the size of the college game just fine from a strength perspective. It’s all going to be about whether or not he can stay in front of smaller forwards.

I'm not worried about him matching up with smaller forwards, because with the limited size on our roster he'll be playing the 5 almost the entire time he is on the floor. The real worry would be can a guy like Rice or Carey guard a 4 when needed.

This is where I'm hoping Holloway can fill a need. Georgetown should have the flexibility to stay in front of the 6'7" - 6'9" slashers with Clark, Rice, Mohammed. If Georgetown comes up against a 6'8" or 6'9" "tweener" a la Robinson-Earl, I hope Holloway is able to play above his height to at least make things miserable on the defensive end. He seemed to do it last year and I'm not sure how likely it is that he faces anyone on JRE's level. I made a post about my hopes for Holloway in his thread, needless to say I have some relatively high hopes To bring it back on topic, I think Mutombo gets solid minutes as a backup 5, maybe even moving into the starting lineup later in the season if he outperforms expectations. I'm sure Tim will face early foul trouble at some point and I think Ryan at least has the size to hold down the middle in his absence.

Hoya fans making a big deal on him biting on a pump fake in a 15 second hype tape has to be one of the more bizarre things I’ve seen lately. Lol.. Tim is more athletic than Ryan. If you don’t think so I’d suggest you watch him in an actual game. Also remember you’re watching Tim vs HM athletes and you’re watching Ryan vs players who are not. Athleticism is only one part of the game though
