Or is this up there with the Beard will never play at GU rumor as worst rumor over the last few years. I remember some posters were pretty sure that the reclassification was a decommitment in disguise. I take everything on here with a grain of salt. The so called "experts" on here said that we wouldn't win the BET, wouldn't make the NCAA tournament, that Ewing can't coach, and that Bile was horrible and should never see the floor. These same people are always coming up with negative takes and seem to relish in trying to bring us down. Seems kind of sick and twister for supposed Hoyas fans.

I agree with you 100%. Everyone here knows how I feel about Patrick Ewing. He is my guy but I feel for him and all that he has gone through trying to resurrect the program. It's been very painful for him and I swear I don't wish anymore pain that this job is causing him to have; it ain't worth it to him to experience another turnover even if it is just one guy. Now, if King is good and he can play or even if he is going to be out for a month, we can deal with that. But, if King has any other issues, not related to an injury, God only knows if I would be able to handle all of that if I were Patrick especially given all that has happened over the last four years. Maybe Patrick can take it but I know I couldn't. I’m not sure I’m with you here. How painful has this job really been for Patrick? I get the sense that he enjoys it. If it's painful, he gets paid an awful lot of money to endure that pain. And to the idea that Ewing would get an NBA coaching gig - the guy's 59 years old and he's had little/no success coaching in college for 5 years. He'd be lucky to get an NBA assistant job, he's got absolutely no chance of getting an NBA head coaching gig.

How in the world can anyone enjoy all the bumps that we've had and it is no fault of Ewing. How can anyone enjoy losing their top big man whom they have been grooming for three years? How can anyone enjoy losing their top prize recruit in the same year that they lost their big man and now their are rumors about a transfer who is supposed to be a big piece in the game plan and the replacement for the top big man and top recruit from last year? I don't get it.

I swear I didn't mean to get this guy going^^^^ I apologize once again and I am going to get off of it. I pray that King shows up or we get some indication or a notice that King will be with the team at some part during the season. These are my last words on the subject.

Him being the only player not tagged in a team post certainly isn’t a great sign. I guess until we see the roster we won’t know for sure. And I guess there’s always a chance he’s ineligible first semester but can play second semester. Maybe King is just so locked in that Coach Crouch didn't feel the need to include him in telling the players to focus on the game rather then the beginning of classes and parties.

I wonder if we will ever get an explanation either way, but I don't even want to think about lineups rn

This thread has jumped the shark. For a little levity/optimism amongst the (almost bizarre level of) sky-is-falling/Ewing-is-gone vibe of the last 3 pages. . . http://instagram.com/p/CU44vR0gM2a

This roster simply needs to be released for us to have any idea. No matter what, we are going to be extremely thin at the 5, with Tim our most experienced player, having never averaged more than 10 minutes a game and rarely playing against a team's starting big. If Ryan isn't ready to play 15+ minutes we are in real trouble there and will have to rely on Tre King to play an extremely undersized 5. If Ryan isn't ready and there is an issue with King's eligibility, you can pretty much start the coaching change rumors now.

Will be interested to see how we fill 80 minutes at 4 and 5 this year.

Okay, so we just found out that Tre King will not be on the team. My question to all the Ewing haters is is this Ewing's fault too? If so, tell me how.

Let's all hope Jalin can ball a little.

I think some combo of Jalin, Kaiden, Aminu/Riley if we go real small, Holloway/Clark, playing spot four minutes has to be the path forward. The possibility of playing King at 5 with a small line-up is gone as well. I am really hoping Mutombo can surprise significantly to the upside as well as Jalin as I didn't see Holloway/Clark/Wilson/Ighoefe being starting caliber 4's and 5's last year.

I don’t think any of Ryan, Tim, or Wilson are ready. I expect all 3 will see minutes at 5 just to keep a big on the floor.

I think most people here are overvaluing what King would've been at the 5.
Is Harris, Carey, Rice, Aminu, King that much different than Harris, Carey, Rice, Aminu, Tim/Ryan?
I don't think so. You've already got 4 shooters out there. His value at the 5 was mostly just insurance against having to play guys who don't appear to be surefire starters in Tim & Ryan. Well -- there's no safety net now - one of those guys has to step it up. But we have 2 or 3 options to try, so there's at least some hope in those numbers -- finally.
He really would've been a good 4. Pat likes to play big - and may have done that with C + King much more than people here realize. What if we didn't play that much 4 guards b/c he liked King at the 4? This board would have been apoplectic. Well -- now there's almost no choice but to play a healthy dose of those lineups.
We brought in a 5-star McD's kid, a NY Mr Basketball, and the 3rd most prolific 3PFG scorer in college last season. Let them run up and down the court & do their thing. Tim or Ryan in the middle - instead of Tre - shouldn't slow them down.
