It's safe to say that we wouldn't have won this game without McClung, right? Very solid second half, very glad the team was tough enough to compete with Providence, they played tough as expected. A good defensive game from Jamorko and a solid one from second half Jessie. The freshmen were huge, LeBlanc was solid too with 11 boards and they clearly scouted to limit him on the glass, Diallo looked to boxout LeBlanc after every bucket. Akinjo and McClung were good, AKinjo created some huge buckets late. McClung was aggressive and that always helps, that's exactly what we missed. Very fun game, hope the result sticks.

Poster of the day right here, gents. Round of applause Wow, I missed that one initially. Thank you for pointing that out. What is said now? Not a peep. Nothing wrong with being critical, even negative if that is your thing. But if you run away and hide from your criticism after a win, it screams the fact that you just wanted us to lose to further your agenda.

Jessie's 33 points and 4 blocks have been mentioned, but FOURTEEN rebounds! For all the grief he gets from some posters, he was a man out there today. Hats off to the crowd, especially the students. They showed up and were into it. So Govan shows up and plays D at the level he should have been for the last 2 years and we want to give him a medal. I think he showed today he can defend with a little effort instead of playing every defensive possession as if he had 4 fouls. He played great today ,we should count on seeing it more often .

This was an important win. I fear we spiral if this game was a loss.

At the time of the post how happy were you about how the game was going? I think most posts made during games are the same as making comments while watching the game with buddies, calling folks out in hindsight is kinda weak in my view... Where are all the mea culpas by the folks who killed Govan early in the game or who continually say he's a net negative to the team?

Actually, sure. Give him a medal, bake him a cake, or kick his ass. Whatever he responds to. We don't have the personnel to be a great defensive team this year. If we want to be passable though, Jessie has to give 100% effort knowing the result is just going to be mediocre. We don't have plan B if Watson comes out and owns Govan like today. The only option is to look Jessie in the eye and tell him "We start 3 freshmen, a sophomore, and you and Ed Cooley thinks you're the weak link on defense. Are you going to prove him right or wrong?" Its so important to this team for Jessie to be as much an anchor as he can be on D. Leblanc and Pickett can be disruptive. The guards will all be about matchups since they are all flawed in some way. But Jessie is it for us down low and he has to play that way for us to be at least OK. The offense has a chance to be good. The defense is just going to be all about the fight and that starts with the senior in the middle.

Now this team knows it can WIN a close, hard fought game...can't put a price on that...it also learned how much effort it takes, and how hard you have to play...on both ends...rest, relax and get ready to go again...damn good job today...

At this point, I'd rather see Carter get more time than Trey... All things being equal, it's better to go with the youth...

I think Ewing feels more comfortable with Trey so Trey would get more of those minutes....plus Trey can post up and be a option down low....that's important to keep defenses honest when Jesse is resting...

Hey, whatever PE said to Govan should be bottled. Govan doesn't have to be a defensive star. But he does have to be what Al Mcguire used to call a space eater under the basket. If he can be that then I will take back every negative thing I ever said about him. And oh yeah, if Pickett can also continue to play tough defense and grab a bunch of rebounds I'll also apologize for what I said about him. Look, we have a dynamic offense. Mac is back. If we can just play some Defense we may get beyond Wednesday afternoon at MSG this year.

If you read my post more closely, you will note that I had no problem with the critical posts. But a fan should not suddenly disappear when your team pulls off an incredible comeback win. Unless of course you are disappointed that they won.

It was long over-due--coming out on the winning side of one of these duels! What depth, we have! What fearless warriors in Mac and Akinjo! I am just wondering where is the ceiling for this team? Just lovin' the ride!

What was the attendance today? 10113 Including - across from the Prov bench - Sean Spicer. After the game, he said it was the largest crowd ever in basketball history.
