For what it's worth, KenPom has "game attribute rankings," and for his category of "Excitement," our game against Providence ranks #1 of all Division 1 games played thus far. I am unsure exactly how it's calculated, but it seems clear that big swings between probability to win is a major factor, so it makes sense this game would score high in that category. It's also #5 in the "Tension" category. Speaking of KenPom, anyone know where we stand after Saturday’s game?

It's bad job by Cooley and his staff because Mac got the shot off... If the intent was to foul then they didn't put their team in the best position to do that... Even if Mac misses, it's still a bad play... Eh.. The kid was supposed to foul but took a bad angle and got shook.. It's more of a great play by Mac than a terrible play by them. Why is it always on the coach? I disagree, there isn't a need to cover a player who won't get the ball especially if your intent is to foul.. A much better play would been to have White playing free safety, he would have been able to help anyone and help give the foul the play called for.. Not taking anything away from Mac, he made a great play to get a clean look off

Mac made a great play. The defender expects a righty to go right, which means Mac up the end line. Instead, he faked and went to the middle of the floor. You can’t teach what he did. Mac's got that kind of move wired into his DNA. I seriously doubt he had any conscious thought there, he just seems to react in ways that will usually give him an advantage. Once he layers on some solid experience to go with those instincts he's going to be a terror to opponents.

You still should be able to make that play either way. I don't think a player on any level would think, my coach failed me there. I think most would think it's a play I have to make and should make.

I agree that a player won't think that the coaches failed them but I'd bet the coaches feel they could have done a better job in that situation... Even if you want to give a pass to them for the scheme, it still looks suspect not having a taller/longer player guarding the inbounder, it wasn't the PC staff's finest moment imo... However, I'm glad it happened the way it did...

Re Macs wonderful play: from the other (PC) side, I know it’s gotta be about finding fault, somone to blame-player(s) or coach. Screw that, for what Ed Cooley has brought to the PC program and the BE, who cares about that one play. FWIW, however much I love and support Patrick, I would take Ed Cooley any day. I’d take him over Jay Wright. Any of them. A class act.

I read the providence board and they’re for the most part crucifying Cooley. Many seem restless about the fact that they aren’t advancing in the tournament even though they make it. Message Board fans are crazy everywhere.

Message Board fans are crazy everywhere. Definitely true. It really is funny how small differences make such a huge difference in fan opinions. Cooley is a good coach who, at the moment, doesn't have the players he's had in recent years (of course, that's on him too but it's impossible to never have a down year, especially at a program like Providence). Fans also have a tendency to think the grass is always greener...That's why I always said (and it applies to every program) that before fans try to ride a coach out of town, they better give good consideration to who the replacement will be. After Providence's big run in 1997 to the Elite Eight, they only made two NCAA appearances before Cooley was hired. So in a span of 14 years before Cooley, they made 3 tournaments. So they can complain if they want about not advancing in the NCAA tournament, but Cooley has gotten them to a place they hadn't been in a very, very, long time. It would be foolish to call for a change at the top there.

Another embarrassing performance. No accountability by Ewing throughout the game for bad shots, and then he expects a good shot in an end of game situation. ![O_o](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/browraise.png)
