It could be as simple as Coach Ewing liking his current starting 5 of Akinjo, Mac, Mosely, Pickett, & Yurt7. Or he lines bringing LeBlanc off the bench as a energy change of pace impact player. Maybe Coach Ewing feels that this lineup & rotation allows him to get the best out his entire team. Maybe Coach Ewing still trying to figure the team out 6 games into the season. A lot of basketball left. People on here gotta stop looking at this as some kind of punishment. It's not who starts that's important, it's who finishes when the games on the line.

It could be, but it would be surprising given that this POV would not be shared with a single Hoya fan poster. Has anyone seen anyone suggesting Josh come off the bench before the season? I certainly haven’t.

It is probably astounding to some, but the Coach doesn’t read through the Hoyatalk board to determine his starting lineup.

I think Ewing likes having some serious fire power coming off the bench. The Hoya teams he played on had that with Graham, Broadnax, Gene Smith and Anthony Jones and he seems to be doing that with Josh.

Wonder if it might have been LeBlanc's reaction after being told he would come off the bench that was the cause of him being disciplined? No inside info; just speculating.

Some have argued...not unreasonably...that he was our best player last year. If that is the case, we would have been lucky for him not to respond, and “how exactly do I put my name in that portal?”

I certainly haven’t. I didn't know Coach Ewing's decisions had to get the approval or mesh with a group that I surmise has ZERO high major college basketball coaching or playing experience much less Coach Ewing's overall vast career experiences in basketball. There's a saying in coaching, if you start listening to the fans, you will eventually be sitting next to them. Also, while my opinion means nothing in the larger scale of things, I have no problem with LeBlanc coming off the bench as long as he's getting his minutes and in when it matters based on Coach Ewing's discretion.

Of course, he doesn’t.....but tell me what you thought the likelihood of this move was before the season honestly. If it were my decision, and it is not.....I would start Leblanc over Mosely every day of the week and twice on Sunday. Best leader on the team, erases the most mistakes, most athletic, most energy on the team, better 3 point shooter....but hey that’s me.

I think Josh needs to play 30 minutes a game. I told everyone on the staff that this weekend and my feeling is that he will be sooner than later. At the same time...having that 3rd ball handler in the starting line up that can push tempo is something that Mosely brings to the team. The staff clearly wants to run.
It appears that the decision is whether the staff wants Pickett or Leblanc coming off the bench and my guess is that they prefer the spark that Josh provides. While I struggled with this concept earlier in the season ....I understand it more now.

We are just getting 2yrs.....the kid has pro written all over him......I think we are gonna be good this year but next year will be special.... He really does...I agree. Perhaps the best nba prospect on the team. He’s so athletic, an incredible defender, plays with energy and a great finisher. I see him as a 4 year player. His offense and outside shooting needs to catch up to the rest of his game. I think by senior year he can be Nigel Hayes like who led Wisconsin to the Final Four. With more development he can be a Siskiam or Anouby but ideally with his height it think shooting guard at the NBA is what he needs to shoot for.

He’s averaging just under 21 minutes in the five games he’s appeared in so far. That will probably increase, but I have a hard time imagining him getting close to 30 minutes if he’s starting the game and the second half on the bench, instead of on the floor.

Quite frankly, I can’t see Josh coming off the bench period. Not sure what the strategy is there except Mosely is a senior. plus, we need Josh to defend so that we can guard against Yurt picking up some of those cheap fouls.

If we are gonna play 3 guards initially, Jagan has to cut down on the turnovers/bad passes, and probably look to drive and score a bit more...love his D, especially in taking charges and he rebounds his position...I like Josh for 25-30 mns, but I'd also like to see him look to score more...he cuts to the basket (and probably would be a good candidate for alley oops) and he's proven to be a good 3 point shooter...just think he needs to take 3-4 a game at a minimum...

We don't have another dynamic high energy guy to give us that spark and change the dynamics. Plus he can sub in for Jagan or Pickett if either of them has a bad start.

Its simply because LeBlanc was disciplined, lost his starting job as punishment and was demoted. And now has to work his way back up along with Jagan or Pickett playing poorly to regain the starting spot. That’s all there is to it.

I get the discipline part, but "work his way back up" I don't get. We need our best players out there on the floor. Right now, Yurt is charged with doing too much; that is part of the reason why he is committing so many fouls.

And--you guys know me as a poster--I don't disagree with the coach often.
