I'll put out a silver lining here - we played loose offensively. We looked like we were having FUN. We were confident. We stepped into our shots. We were aggressive. We showed a nice mix of inside and outside touches, with good screens away from the ball. Let's do more of that. When Let's start with @ Villanova.

Come on Its clearly a player , coach and recruiting issue. Noooooooo!. Talent is equal if not better than most Big East team. have you seen some of the fouls and stupid play these guys have made this year. Coaches can only instruct. Players have to execute. The offense was ranked 18 this year in offensive efficiency. I'd go other way and say if talent is better than most than clearly a coaching issue. Stupid plays and fouls repeatedly made are a coaching issue. We only recruit the finest student-athletes here.

This season is not a JTII issue. Its a player issue. The have not made the plays this year. In fact that have made stupid mistakes in critical time all year long. It's a big III issue as you can't push all blame on players and not look at the one who coaches them. You can say they share in it but he has to take a large share of this one. Players have to execute. Every one has got plenty of time to contribute and play. This has been one of my biggest complaint with JTII. Not this year!!!! Players have not executed!!

They had to guard him more tightly, and he was matched up with one of the few guys this year he has been able to dribble past.

You can't give him that big of a pass but I'm sure you'll try.

You can blame both the coaches and the players but neither are going to change (outside of -Seniors +Mosely). The only hope is that they continue to learn and have some growth and revelations in the off-season how to fit together better, play better, and win games.

Right. He wanted quickness on the court. Honestly hard to argue it. Our man to man was so bad all night. They made a great play against it. We lost the game well before that one. Its more pick and roll communication. The problem with the defense was lack of communication. To defend pack and roll effectively you have to communicate. Oh, it's everything on D. Our communication is awful. But we can't keep guys in front of us.

Great grit and hustle by an undermanned team. The game was lost when they gave up 50 points in the first half.
Riyan Williams froze with the ball at the top of the key late, but otherwise played well on D. Kaleb came in on D for the last play then stood and watched Fischer run by him.
For those that constantly harp on crappy plays out of Hoya timeouts, the last 2 plays tonight were great.
Pretty lousy crowd in Milwaukee tonight, a town held up by some as far better for fan support than DC. Basically empty upper decks.
Nice to see Ike finally look confident on the offensive end.
Finally, it's really sad that Bill Raftery speaks more highly of our team than 90% of the posters here. Really sad.

How do you not cover a 6-10 guy running up the floor is the first question ? The second is if you are not guarding the inbound pass how does the middle of the floor get that wide open ? Because it was a zone. And the middle is open against the zone. We gambled that we would confuse them for even a second and that would be enough. All credit to them, they recognized it immediately. This is pretty much text book as to why our problems are about coaching. A team that misses assignments, has it's head up its but most of the time on defense, should NOT be playing a 1-2-2 zone on the final possession a 1 point game. In every situation, you know the guy with the ball almost certainly has to take 3-4 seconds just dribbling up the floor. All you have to do is stop him from getting to the basket and not let any other player be wide open. We could not even accomplish that. We gave a guy who wasn't even that fast to get the ball up court a wide open pass. Dumb defense, dumb execution. Story of the season.

They do recruit and are responsible for the team they put on the floor. Somewhere these guys shot and dribbled well enough for our coach to give them a scholarship and get you excited about their arrival. The breakdown since that time can only be blamed on the environment they currently reside.

The only hope is that they continue to learn and have some growth and revelations in the off-season how to fit together better, play better, and win games. The second to last offensive possession is a prime example. Why the hell was Riyan in the game? But how on earth did Riyan, a senior after all, line up on the wrong side of the court and completely muck up the play,? There is enough blame to go around. Not on D. We just are talent-less there. III has tried everything tactically there.

No totally disagree talent wise we are clearly at best second tier. perhaps ninth worse backcourt and a middle of the road front court. defensively well no comment needs to be made. we have 11 scholarship players and only one has an above average handle. Athleticsm is mediocre at best. Please you know better. you have seen it with your eyes. fouls and stupid plays are the result of an inability to execute basic skills. Talent here is not god given its developed over many years before you show up. Clearly imho we don't have the talent you think we hve.

Quick Final Thoughts:
1. Ike had big time game 13/18 FG's, 32 pts and 4/5 FT's
2. 21 assts vs 8 to's
3. At 14-16, the Hoyas have now lost 8 of the last 9 games and are squarely and 5 in a row, 6 of the 8 losses have been by single digits but never the less a loss
Final Grade: C
This team could have folded, but instead fought hard and have a moral victory to show for it. With under 6 seconds left, the Hoyas had the lead but let another victory slip thru their fingers in the final seconds. Saturday should be a double digit loss and then after that the BET tournament and the last chance to end the losing the streak and avoid the worst win% in 44 years. Onto Villanova...

Let's start with @ Villanova. Love that you really are buying the silver lining. I only wish I still had your optimism.
