Can someone explain Williams playing so much tonight? No one was in foul trouble. Airball on three early and worst time to foul at the end? Williams played because he was the only guy with a clue on defense (at least until the silly foul). The first time we got back to even late in the game, Tre immediately let his guy blow right by him for a layup.

Up 2, I do think you need a big man protecting the rim at the end. You know their first option would be streaking to the basket to get a 2. Force the long 3, and if you lose on that shot, it is what it is. Allowing a guy to get to the rim so quickly is just bad regardless. Someone should be recognizing that.

I didn't see the game. What was with Riyan's foul with us up by one? Riyan was trying to get the offensive rebound and fouled the Marquette guy, it looked like it could have been a break away basket the other way. Grabbed player after missed shot on long foul. To me was not a necessary foul. Not sure why he was in the Game. Says a lot about the state of Tre Campbell game.

I didn't see the game. What was with Riyan's foul with us up by one? If he doesnt foul, it's probably a fast break bucket. It was a long rebound off a jumper. I think thats the play you were referring to. Yeah, it was not a bad foul. The fact he is in the game on offense was the problem.

I didn't see the game. What was with Riyan's foul with us up by one? Long rebound off of Derrickson missed 3 he pushed the Marquette guy trying to get the loose ball. Bad play. Not even sure that was a bad play, I'd say the ball was 60-40 Marquette's and would've called a play on if it were me but oh well.

This season is not a JTII issue. Its a player issue. The have not made the plays this year. In fact that have made stupid mistakes in critical time all year long.

I didn't think the fast break was that clearcut.

Was Govan under the basket protecting the paint? If no, where was he? I did not DVR it and I cannot rewind. Only 5.3 seconds left. Was pressing. Govan needed to be on Bench. Right. He wanted quickness on the court. Honestly hard to argue it. Our man to man was so bad all night. They made a great play against it. We lost the game well before that one.

Did we go zone press on the last possession? Is that what happened? Why Williams was in the game earlier, I just don't know. But the game was lost on D. We just can't defend anyone. I think k we found out what happens if we don't foul....we give up uncontested layup after uncontested layup. Man, zone press, 1-3-1, 2-3. We even tried an old school run and jump. Boy, the O looked great too. I loved DSR actually playing the role of the typical five in some of those sets. Never seen that one before and it worked pretty well.Jesse missed approximately 145 wide open cutters tonight. Something different! Loved it.. Seeing the multiple back picks was a pleasant surprise too..

To defend pack and roll effectively you have to communicate.

It's a big III issue as you can't push all blame on players and not look at the one who coaches them. You can say they share in it but he has to take a large share of this one.

Honestly, our depth of course killed us today.
However, no one had fouled out, and Riyan has shown quite a few times that he struggles to make the right decision. I don't see how you don't park Govan in the paint on that final possession defensively.

How do you not cover a 6-10 guy running up the floor is the first question ? The second is if you are not guarding the inbound pass how does the middle of the floor get that wide open ? Because it was a zone. And the middle is open against the zone. We gambled that we would confuse them for even a second and that would be enough. All credit to them, they recognized it immediately.

I'll put out a silver lining here - we played loose offensively. We looked like we were having FUN. We were confident. We stepped into our shots. We were aggressive. We showed a nice mix of inside and outside touches, with good screens away from the ball. Let's do more of that.

Talent is equal if not better than most Big East team. have you seen some of the fouls and stupid play these guys have made this year. Coaches can only instruct. Players have to execute. The offense was ranked 18 this year in offensive efficiency.
