. . .and it proves to be just an announcement as to an annual gala and a review of the Syracuse basketball season.
Nothing to see here, folks. . .just keep walking.

As they say at the Passover Seder, "What makes this night different from all other nights?"

He has to find schollies somewhere to make up for the ones they are expected to lose. Leave it to Magoo to make kids suffer because his slimy program got caught again.

There's one guy on the Syracuse board that has been saying for a long time (at least a couple weeks before the self-imposed ban) that his "source" claims the violations are worse than what's been reported publicly, and the NCAA is waiting until after the season ends to render their punishment. Seemed like BS in the beginning, but with the NCAA's continued radio silence, maybe there's something to it...

With UNC also in its sights, I suspect the NCAA does not want to distract from its primary event, and the sanctions for both will come down in mid- to late-April.

At this stage, I would be shocked if anything came out before the conclusion of the Final Four. You are right in that the NCAA will not want anything to cloud its spring showcase. We are looking, in most likelihood, at another month of angst on syracusefan.com.
I would also be surprised if the sanctions did not include additional post-season ban time for the Orange; if it did not, why not just release the report earlier than it will now be released?

This all makes sense. The only countervailing point is that the NCAA are a bunch of clowns, so you never know what they'll do.

Today is the day. The NCAA will release its report on Syracuse and the penalties to be imposed, according to several media sources. Expect news around noonhour.

I'm excited, yet bracing myself for disappointment at the same time. I assume the NCAA won't make it too hard on Jimmy B, unfortunately.

@cnymediacritic: Per same source that gave me scoop on date: "Likely loss of scholarships, another year ban from tourney and vacated wins for Boeheim."
FWIW - This person called that sanctions would be today at 2pm yesterday.

If, in fact, SU is getting a two-year post-season ban, as is now being posited in numerous locations, the self-imposing of a ban this season may well have saved eligibility for the 2016-2017 season. Otherwise, they would have been eligible for this season, and gotten bounced for the next two years (the NCAA would not have banned them for this season at this late date); as this edition of the Orange is borderline tournament-worthy, this looks like a very smart move by Syracuse chancellor Kent Syverud.

Got my popcorn ready and tissues for all the crying that'll be taking place around me.
I couldn't have asked for a better birthday gift!
