Another step forward on the IAC: there was a big drill aparatus out there (might still be there) drilling a hole through the tennis courts to test the soil undereneath for construction purposes....

What is being done to contact alumni? My dad has had season tickets at midcourt in section 100 for five years now and when I mentioned the IAC and donating he said he had heard nothing about it. You would think these are the kinds of people that Georgetown should be going after but again it looks like the marketing for this project has been poor

Just got back from JCAW in London. We have 30M - need total of 60 M ( that is 30M more). Hope to break ground in 2014. That's what I got but will stand corrected.

And for a project that's been in the discussion pipeline for a decade and publicly announced over two years ago, videos like this are quietly posted without fanfare, as if the IAC is more "if" than "when". It's not fair but the legacy of failed facilities initiatives (Boathouse, MSF, track stadium, on-campus softball field) seems to hang over the publicity of this project. Either it's priority one or it isn't. (See my post on the Pro & College thread for an athletic building project announced today.)

Thanks for that video! Looks nice! Hoya NBA alumni will love practicing there. Why not donate while they're there?

In regards to the comments above about "quietly" posting what is an excellent video, I heard from the Athletic Development Office - see below.

It's not fair but the legacy of failed facilities initiatives (Boathouse, MSF, track stadium, on-campus softball field) seems to hang over the publicity of this project. Either it's priority one or it isn't. (See my post on the Pro & College thread for an athletic building project announced today.) It's priority one as far as new buildings go, but it cannot really be singled out as a higher priority than other items in the capital campaign. I understand why, not least of which is the optics of a University signaling that an intercollegiate athletics facility is fundraising priority number one, when there are countless other, directly academic-related needs that could use those funds. And, you know, the University's financial picture is such that they tried to institute a year-long pay-freeze on staff this spring before the uproar led to them backing off and allowing an increase so small it doesn't cover inflation. I'm the last person who needs to be told that fundraising isn't zero sum and blah blah etc. etc., but I do understand some of the... restraint. Also, in fairness, the boathouse failure is not wholly or even mostly the University's fault, although it does seem like insisting on one particular spot has not been a great approach.

I love the photoshops of people in these types of renderings.
I forget if and how they are going to replace the tennis courts.

Any idea about tennis courts out there ? I think it is left unsaid but that tennis probably joins the parade of Georgetown sports forced to play off campus, probably at a city park like softball does.

I thought I had read that there would be indoor tennis courts in the basement of IAC, but I could be wrong.
