By the way, did anyone notice some of the comments from Sidney Lowe after the game? Making excuses for getting crushed in the second half alluding to their 6' 8" center's scoring average. "That's 16 points right there" type of stuff. That team will never be a top tier ACC team with that type of leadership. Every coach says things like "Missing so and so tonight made it a bigger challege for us" but Lowe's comments just scream "We only lost b/c one of our guys is hurt." That's shameful after getting blown out. So happy JTIII doesn't have that in his character.

Didn't see the clip, so I don't know exactly how he was putting it, but this is pretty standard. With the rebounding edge the Hoyas had and the multiple close-in shots that were made, I'd be saying the same in his position. What I wouldn't be doing is claiming that NC State would have won, however.
This game is different in March. Their young players will have more maturity (and, presumably, better defense) and their inside game will improve with their center's return. While the same could be said for us to some degree, Moses is not a starter and we get the vast majority of our minutes from experienced players. We still win, especially with the effort we put forth in the second half, but it's much closer.
Loved how we settled down despite the early Wolfpack lead. The D in the second half was fantastic, and we employed the fast break very well -- a bit reminiscent of Georgetown of old. Henry's play was inspiring, Chris' maturity showed, Austin demonstrated his power, Julian was efficient & effective (free throw practice, though!), Jason hit some of the usual daggers, Hollis really got it going, the bench produced on O & D, and the distribution of effort was great. More, please!

Let's CELEBRATE THE WIN and quit getting on each others. WHAT! I just about fell off my chair when I read the above! From RDF!?!?!? We need to call in Scully and Mulder because something VERY strange is happening in Hoya land. Chris is playing like an ALL BE PG. Someone (or something... cue eerie music!) has taken over Henry Sims body and has him playing like Greg. And RDF is telling posters to be NICE to each other! This can't possibly last! What a GREAT weekend in S. Carolina. Hats off to JT3 and staff, and the entire team. I feel like the quiet kid sitting at the Thanksgiving table who just sits back and smiles at the fact that everyone in the family is happy and getting along. I may not post much, but I read every day and really enjoy this board's banter and camaraderie. Happy Thanksgiving - see you all next Saturday.

I wonder if JTIII would say, with Greg Monroe, we'd have won by 40.

vcjack:
You got that right!! I am really enjoying this team. They are a delight to watch. And most of all, "they are a team." I don't know how we will do in the big east this year, but I just enjoy watching them.

He has taken a team that was in the NCAAs five straight times under Sendek (who was run out of town!) and has gone 4 years without an appearance. If he cannot get in this season, he knows he is going to be fired. So I understand why he is already rationalizing a loss in November to the media.

This was exactly my thought, doesn't really surprise me - and we don't need him giving us credit, we all know what happened. Just keep underestimating us, America.

Seashells and balloons, baby, seashells and balloons. MILKSHAKES FOR EVERYONE!!!! One of the admins needs to figure out a way to bottle up all of this good will and then inject it into the board when the inevitable explosion occurs after our first loss. A meltdown antidote, if you will.

Don't think I saw it mentioned elsewhere on this thread, but CONGRATULATIONS to CHRIS WRIGHT for winning Tournament MVP!!! Great weekend.
[On Edit: looks like Ambassador mentioned it on page 12. Oh well, it's totally worth mentioning again. Great tourney, Chris!!]

Just got back home to California from Charleston. Man, what a road trip! Great games, great city - - it honestly couldn't have been a better trip.
And the icing on the cake was post game last night, cigars in mouths, seeing the team get on the bus and each of them (including Coach) coming over and signing the official brackets from the arena (not really sure how that somehow found its way into our hands...). I love this team.

Chris played GREAT over the three games and he deserved it. Coast and Ambassador are BOTH right to mention it!
