I think the wife and I picked a decent game to attend as one of our 2 or 3 this season! Unbeleivable rally and one of the best games I have personally witnessed. Slightly behind 2006 Duke game and the 2007 UNC NCAA game, but still amazing. Fantastic performance by the entire team in the 2nd half, the composure to stay focused and to play with excellent execution was flat out impressive when you consider the dominance by UConn in the 1st half.
I know it gets tossed out there constantly, but this team does not resemble last year's squad in any way. The players seem to genuinely trust each other more and look to enable the hot hand. Also the pieces just seem to be fitting better this season, everyone understands and knows their role. The confidence gained from knowing you can recover from a 19 point deficit can only help this team later in the season. Nothing like this could ever have happened last season.
Great game, I am so happy the team has SHU later in the week to enjoy this one and properly focus on the next BE test.

Why bother? ESPN U like ESPN Classic butchers games and cuts out half the stuff to make way for more commercials. MASN rebroadcasts are the only rebroadcasts worththy of looking at again.

Let me add that in my 25+ years of Hoya basketball this game is right up there with the best, maybe Top 15. Although it didn't have the significance of a BET Final, Sweet Sixteen, etc..., it was just as impressive... an instant classic.

Rewatching the game last night, did anyone notice that Calhoun muttered something to one of his assistants immediately after Robinson missed the desperation three at the buzzer? I was trying to make it out, but I couldn't...just curious if anyone else noticed it and if anyone is a good lip-reader.

Noted this in the Greg Monroe thread, but after rewatching the second half last night I was captivated by Monroe's defensive effort in the second half. He was an absolute fiend, stripping UConn forwards, blocking shots, grabbing every key board and saving the ball out of bounds twice. Quite simply, UConn got very, very few easy looks in the second half and even fewer second chance points -- and much of the credit goes to Monroe's resurrection. For all the talk of how he needs to get more aggressive on the offensive end by the pundits, I would rather have more consistent defensive intensity on a level we saw in the second half. Give Austin more touches on offense and let Greg focus on defense, because when he's clicking at that end, it becomes very difficult for teams to score.

Thoughts:
> Agree with Cambridge. Greg was really strong on defense second half. Even the out-of-bounds steal was a scrappy, scrappy play. I remember thinking during the Marquette game that I didn't mind his "quiet"ness because he was drawing the double and opening up Vaughn and others, but that his non-scoring play needed to remain consistent. The second half against UCONN was a great contribution on his part.
> At some point during Freeman's Herculean run, we shouted "Get it to Freeman, he's on a heater and you never walk away from a heater" I think his points were in the low 20s at that point...never walk away from a heater.
> Benimon had a textbook box-out at one point that I don't think I've ever seen from someone in blue and gray. Just down low, arms back, letting either Greg or Vaughn (don't remember as I was watching Ben) snatch up the ball. GREAT defensive teamwork. I love that kid.
> Is it me or is Vaughn's movement improving game to game? He's actually been SLASHING recently. Ridiculous.
> Paging Jason Clark! You're one of the best new energy guys on our team, buddy. Don't switch off of those Wheaties!

Greg was really strong on defense second half. Even the out-of-bounds steal was a scrappy, scrappy play. Coach gets some credit for this steal - he must have seen something in the setup of the play as Robinson was drifting to the wing. Just before the pass, Coach was yelling in Greg's direction from the bench and waving his arm toward Robinson. Greg leaned that way and broke one the ball as soon as the pass was released. Nice.

I'm just nwo coming "down" from the game. What an emotional rollercoaster - great win for us. IN addition to all the supperlatives for Freeman; and there can't be enough right now. Vaughn and Bennimon really impressed me. Vaughn - the entire season really has improved by a factor of 10 I would say. He didn't have too many of his post up moves working for him; but the guy hustles, rebounds and defends. Workman performance you can just always count on. Really, really like him and wish we had gotten him instead of macklin straight up. Bennimon hasn't produced a lot or been in too many minutes; but the guy tries and isn't afraid of some contact. There were several times Sat when he boxed out well - which lead to his rebound or a team mates rebound. Given our lack of rebounding at times - i really like this kid. He hasn't shown an offensive game really yet; but i have no problem with him in the game if he is playing d and rebonding like that.
One other note - thompson has shown flashes as well. Can't wait till both these guys are gettign 10 - 15 mins a game and there isn't a HUGE drop off. They should be rounding into form right in time for the BET.

When he starts to drive, you can tell he is going to shoot no matter what - and that is not always a goood thing! That said, he is a huge part of this team, will love watching him this year and next.
