Can anyone explain to me why IU fans are upset over the fact the JT2 talked to the kid. If Pops was talking to the kid at the same time JT3 was, then I assume it was ok for the University (and its representatives) to be having contact with the recruit at that time. I also understand it's ok for JT2 to talk with the recruit's representatives at other times. So what's the big deal?

Funny to read their write-up on Vee from last year: "He also has a good mid range pull up and one of his favorite moves is his floater where he displays great touch and body control." I seem to remember him making one of those floaters at MSG.

An important read from the Indiana papers - www.idsnews.com/blogs/hoosierhype/?p=11168Nice job to clean up some of the hanging sources and pseudo-information that has been put out there this week. Sounds like a tough spot for any recruit much less one who was probably not overly familiar with modern recruiting.

Sounds like the kid made his decision based on the right criterion: the place he felt most comfortable. Shocker.

If anyone accused Thompson's of being racist, it should never be from the state that "created" the KKK.

If anyone accused Thompson's of being racist, it should never be from the state that "created" the KKK. A. Indiana didn't "create" the KKK. The KKK gained political power in Indiana during the 1920's-30's, but hasn't really existed in the state since then. At least, not any more so than exists in most other states around the country. B. I don't recall anyone getting on this board and calling the Thompsons racists. If an Indiana fan has done that on this board or on our own, then that person is an idiot. Don't assume that's representative of our entire fan base. I don't assume the entire Georgetown fanbase thinks along the lines of the guy that sent me a message saying, "Get off our board you inbred piece of (expletive)." I'm just saying, don't blast us for being classless when I get worse from your fans

Enough back and forth, people. weknowbball is a guest here and deserves to be treated with reasonable respect.
Just a reminder that the PM system should not be used for messages such as the one referenced above. We have banned posters in the past for that so be warned.
Move on to discussing the recruit instead of each other.

Move on to discussing the recruit instead of each other. Thank you. If anyone would care to respond, there were a couple things I was wanting to know. Has anyone seen MA play? Just wondering what we lost out on. And, what did Jeremiah Rivers say after he left Georgetown? After watching him play for a season, I have a hard time believing he had reason to complain...

The basic tenor of Rivers's comments, if I recall correctly, were that our offense held him back offensively, and he was happy he transferred to an offensive system that would enable him to showcase his talents. He was annoyed we used him primarily as a defensive stopper and wanted freer rein on the offensive side of the ball. We, of course, questioned what offensive system would work with a guy who could not shoot and turned the ball over way too much.

Yes, and he seemed kind of bitter about it and his father said he would've preferred if he stayed. But then his brother followed up by bad mouthing Gtown if I remember, because of our "offensive system".... correct?

he said he felt like a "robot" because of the offense and wanted to go somewhere where the system wouldn't hold him back. Also said nothing positive about the program or other players, etc. Just really bitter.

I do recall Rivers at some point belittling the system by saying that he was focused on running to a spot on the court and having to pass it over and over again once he got there. (Something to that effect at least.)
Part of the problem for Jeremiah was not only that he was defined as a "defensive stopper" and therefore limited somewhat in his role....but that the All Met POY in Jason Clark was on his way to G'town which was inevitably going to cut into Jeremiah's minutes.

Rivers said the same things he is saying about IU--he's a prima donna dip---- who blames everyone else and doesn't look in the mirror about his game. He peaked as a HS soph at Nike Camp and then never has gotten better. What I love is he talks up his brother like he's his agent and while his brother is immensley talented--if he has 1/10th of the ego that Jeremiah does, I wouldn't want anything to do with that kid either.
Rivers is a good defensive player who thinks he's Jason Kidd. His offensive game consists of wild out of control drives, no jumpshot, and throwing/missing crazy shots on his out of control drives to hoop.

Can we finally erase the Rivers family from discussion? Been there and done that. This is a Moses thread. Very much looking forward to the reports from the Capital Classic. Adding 2 bigs to the mix as well as an excellent point guard prospect gives us all hope.

weknowbball,
As per your request, a quote by Jeremiah Rivers from the Indianapolis Star:
"[The Indiana] offense is so much better because I'm not going out there and worrying about going to a specific spot or running the exact same play three or four times in a row. At Georgetown I would run the same thing over and over, and it became so repetitive. I really became like a robot there offensively. I had no idea how to play anymore."

[ Has anyone seen MA play? Just wondering what we lost out on. If he can be something close to another 6-10 Nigerian, Ekpe Udoh of Baylor then he will be very good.

Once again I cannot see JT II getting off his butt to convince a high school player to come to Georgetown if he was the 2nd coming of Cheik Ya Ya Dia. Mr. Dia was a valuable role player & fine young man but I do not recall any comparisons to Patrick. My guess is that Moses will get minutes because he has legitimate rebounding & defensive presence. If Monroe departs I could see Abraham/Henry & a little Julian becoming a 3 headed monster @ Center.
