November is the early signing period. So we've got a long couple of months.

I really would like to see Nate end up a Hoya. However, while he said he is still committed it seems that there is something to this. If he has to end up re opening his recruitment I hope he does it sooner so the staff can fill his role. Although, you'd imagine the staff is well aware of what may or may not be going on and are making whatever adjustments necessary. I really would like to see him on the hilltop though but that is if he wants to be there.

any idea on a reason? just a general change of mind or a specific incident? That is what is weird about the rumors, no reasons have been given.

Doesnt seem like this is happeneing just alittle to often to our program in the JT3 ERA. I understand the transfers and de-commits if our head coach was leaving or was under ncaa violations. All i read about are kids wanting to p lay a certain style and head to the league. Could recruits be talking about our "system" and saying thats not teh style they want to pLAY?? Maybe.
Right now im willing to give JT3 the benefit here, but remember it was all about 2010 right? Wasnt it about the Kendricks and the Roscoe Smiths and the Will Bartons of the recruiting world? If these guys have lost intrest in us there is a major problem here.
Other than that these are kids and can change there mind very easily they dont understand the word commitment. They think well i li ke georgetown this month but i can always back out that seems to be the mentality. As for me I dont get hyped up when we get a verbal commit anymore, not until theres a signature for a LOI.

Rich, it is certainly disconcerting. As far as I can remember, it has happened three times (before now) to us since JTIII came: Jeff Green, DaShonte Riley and Hollis Thompson. Now Nate Lubick. Some thoughts: - Two of those three involved Syracuse. Am I shocked? No. We already know that one of their assistant coaches has no issues with this kind of behavior. Would I be shocked to find out the "uninvolved assistant" was a Syracuse assistant. Absolutely not
- Two of those three ended up having little legs. Hopefully Nate ends up this way.
- There's no doubt every team negative recruits in some manner, and some more than others. And no doubt people use "the system" against us. The big question is, to me, why are kids committing without understanding these things? Is the staff not clear? Are these kids basically believing everything they are told by opposing coaches?
- There's no way I would ever back our of a verbal commit, unless I thought the University in some way violated what I understood to be the terms of the agreement. Which is where it gets fuzzy. But I find the decommitment common in football and becoming more common in basketball frankly embarassing. If my kid were to want to decommit for some reason that they knew going in (or should have known), I'd tell them tough.

Some of you need to get a life, or just visit the real world every once in a while. The only real decommitment was Riley. And that happened because he got crushed in pick-up on his visit then JT3 explained to Riley his role as a freshman.
This is freaking recruiting. That is how it goes all the time and everywhere(except maybe unc).

The mention of him going to Duke as a possible option is quite interesting. Austin Rivers was also rumored to decommit from Florida this weekend and commit to Duke, recently he said that was false and he was 100% committed to Florida. This has me wondering whats going on in Durham.

What? Is Duke stil mad about Monroe? Hasn't Hairston and Thornton been enough?
Seriously I don't see Duke as a legit possibility. The Blue Devils have the Plumlees, Ryan Kelly, Hairston and some other dude I'm forgetting and they are going after Fab and another very highly regarded big man. If there's anything legit about Nate thinking of going elsewhere then Michigan has always been the school that worried me in the back of my mind. That seemed the school he was leaning towards before picking the Hoyas and the Wolverines had a very successful showing last season after his decision while Gtown did not. Notre Dame seems like a more fitting/likely place than Duke too but again I have no information to back these opinions.
We know Nate is heading to Duke if he suddenly is vaulted into Rival's Top 20 for 2010.
By the way are coaches allowed to speak to the players around this time of the summer?

I don't see them as a legit threat either, but its just strange that their named has popped up with two recruits this weekend that were rumored to decommit and both denied doing so. Seems like more than a coincidence to me.

Guys he is not playing today because of his ankle, per his fathers orders. He will be playing in West Virginia.
Sorry I was away on vacation when this stuff was happening.
FYI Georgetown watched my team all this weekend, I am guessing for Alex Murphy, but we have some other HM guys.

By now you've perfected it. If Lubick does indeed decommit, feel free to rend your garments and type declarations of doom until the cows come home. By now, most people know to ignore you around here. You won't be right of course - it wouldn't be a positive development short term, but what if in the long run Lubick not coming clears the way for an even better player to end up at Gtown? - but you'll make yourself feel smart.

Well, I've got some precious metal mutual funds, and I always keep plenty of canned goods and candles in the house, but I am not ready to give up on these Hoyas!
I think Nate will be on the hilltop.
