st. marks lost to findlay tonight 80-76. sounds like it was the game of the tournament. Nate had a great game. blurbs from rivals: "With Murphy in early foul trouble, Georgetown commitment Nate Lubick was the go-to guy for St. Mark's, scoring 27 points on 12 of 19 shooting. Lubick also grabbed a game high nine rebounds." "Nate Lubick showed a lot of spunk and a skilled game as well. It looks like Georgetown is a place which will maximize his talents." www.newenglandrecruitingreport.com/news/article/615/National-Prep-Showcase-Day-2-Recap.php

watched tape of the findlay-st. mark's game and it truly was a great game. I was specifically watching nate and he was the best big man on the court. nate does have that "dog" in him. he has a nose for the ball on both ends of the court. he got about half a dozen baskets by just being in the right place. And when he gets the ball 1-2 ft away he is able to convert over most by creating space with his wide body. he converted all of his bunnies-- good garbage man/lunch pail guy. Very good at boxing out-- don't worry about anyone outworking him for a rebound on free throws. He has good form on his shot but i did not see him make an outside shot. In his high school offense Nate plays on the perimeter just as much as he does down low-- this is good b/c in JT3's system each player is asked to come out to the perimeter and get the ball. The offense looks similar to JT3's which is good b/c the skills Nate is learning will be very relevant when he comes to the Hilltop. Defensively, Nate's team used the zone alot against Findlay's guards and he looked decent in these sets. He is not especially quick with his feet- alot of guys were driving by him- but he gets away with his lack of quickness by knowing where to be on the court. He looked good but not great running the floor. ID- this is the biggest difference to me between david Lee and nate lubick. Lee is a better athlete who has a bigger motor. Nate looks like a big when he runs the court. Still can not think of a player he reminds me of. Nice, solid 4 year player. He will be a nice body to have off the bench. agree with prhoya that he would have been a great type of player for this year's team.

Would you compare him to Don Reid?....Reid came in as an unknown, but developed to a productive player.

Way more offense than Reid, who's range was out to 5 feet. Lubick can shoot the three, but does his best work closer to the basket. Has a midrange game and is a bulldog. Very competitive. I'd liken him to Matt Harpring.

Unfortunately here he is against Tilton Academy. didn't get much of a run and was clearly outclassed by Coombs, Coleman, Orickai and teamate Murphy. I hope to see him and St Marks against Gonzaga up in Springfield in the HOF tournament on Jan 18th. www.nextplay.com/game_week.aspx

He does not have the lateral quickness or even vertical leap of david lee but probably is more skilled. guess that's why we call him a poor man david lee for now. Tilton is the better team. Murphy was guarding oriakhi most of the game. both are taller and more athletic than lubick. oriakhi more of a center in college- he is a MAN. murphy showed off a nice skill set given his size but Lubick is a tougher player more accustomed for Big East play. Lubick was also guarding quicker players most of the game--players who will project as small forwards/wings at next level-- like coombs. Lubick is more of a true power forward. When he got the ball down low against the wings he was able to convert--- but there were few opportunities for him down low. Lubick is not a guy who will WOW you when you see him. His role will be to a solid bench/role player for this team for 4 years. Also have to consider lubick has 2 more years to continue to get stronger-- kid has a nice frame to play down low in big East. For now I do not expect him to take too many outside shots at next level- not a bad shooter technique wise but not consistent enough from the outside yet. sleepy, looking forward to your recap from HOF tournament. "Georgetown and Florida are scheduled to play each other in a couple of years so Murphy and Lubick could meet as rivals. Lubick's take: "it'd be fun." Murphy's take (with a mischievous smile): "We'd win.""
OH NO! THAT'LL GIVE YOU KNOW WHO MORE EXCUSE TO STICK AROUND.

You're missing the most crucial implication, we will see Vernon Macklin play against us, and there's a chance it will be in the Phonebooth. That won't be an awkward crowd atmosphere at all...

You're assuming 1. that the couple of years discussed is while macklin is still around i.e. next year and the following. It could be 3 years from now and he'll be gone. 2. You're assuming he'll be good enough to see the floor
