Whoa! Look at hoyaboy1's new avatar. Stringer Bell is alive after all. He lives on in my heart. And, as a bonus, I think the quote works well for Georgetown hoops.

The rumors say Wattad commits tomorrow.

I still think Sapp starts, but at this point I wouldn't be surprised to see Crawford start - never thought I'd be saying that.

Have you seen Omar play? Can you give a description of his game?

RB, your series of posts here are off the wall absurd. This is a perfectly legitimate issue to talk about ON AN INTERNET MESSAGE BOARD. You are grossly overestimating any negative impact this could have, particularly since nobody is mentioning anything specific.

how bout we stop speculating about what it would take to bring in any more players? Let the coaching staff deal with that rather than speculating about transfers and so on. This is a message board, it's what we do. I think that right now, we have no reason to speculate, since it seems obvious that Wright will take Jeff's spot. But if there is one more signing, we have every reason to wonder what's going on; I have my doubts that the staff could already be sure of a specific player transferring.

So I guess that with Wright coming we can assume there will be no movement on McClain at least for now right? Its also rumored that Wattad will commit to Gtown? Is he gonna take a schollie or walk on for other reasons etc. It would seem crazy to me for the hoyas to give out another schollie to Wattad if we could lock Biggie up right now. I guess we will have to wait until spring to see, but I would love to secure a big man as the final piece. Also can someone please explain the schollie situation and how we know that we will have enough next year? If someone was going to transfer why wouldnt they do it now? The odds that there will be at least one more schollie for next year are really, really good. Either Jeff goes pro or one of the four sophomores transfer. The odds of both happening are also pretty good. Hence why we are able to take a verbal and likely able to take two more. 2 more? That would mean Jeff going pro and 2 transfers.

Does where Crawford is coming out mean he is a starter?

I agree about the need for role players - you need a mix of top 50 guys and solid 4 year role players. Hopefully Omar works out.

That was basically a long "trust the staff, because we don't know everything" post. I understand that sentiment, and obviously I will never know the answers to my questions above. That doesn't mean I can't wonder about what everyone will admit is a bit of a strange scenario and recruitment. The impossibility of certainty does not mean a subject shouldn't be discussed. I never said this recruitment was a disaster, or that Wattad will stink, or that we will be pulling scholarships. But I think that each concern I raised is legitimate given what we know. I love JTIII but unlike some others I'm not quite ready to join his cult of personality and not question any decision he makes.
A key point to remember here is that neither I nor others that are wondering about Wattad signing on Monday were looking for fights - it was people like RB, 07, and others that jumped in and said the subject was taboo. I just wanted to get my concerns out there - the whole point of a message board. When Wattad signs on Monday, I will obviously only be hoping for the best.

I have heard from a number of sources that Wallace is on scholarship, and I don't see any reason not to believe that at this point. If it turns out that he somehow isn't (highly, highly doubtful), then I still wouldn't understand signing Wattad.
The rest of your post was largely gibberish. This board is far less active generally and engages in far less speculation than the boards of any major program I have been to - and yet we still constantly get people saying what is and isn't appropriate to talk about.

Problem 1 for me - I don't see any way Wattad plays before his junior year, since he'll be competing with the likes of Wallace, Crawford, Sapp, Thornton, Egerson, Spann (if Wattad can really play the 3), Rivers, Wright, and Freeman. So why do we need him now, instead of getting a likely comparable player next year?
Problem 2 - why take him this early? We are now two schoalrships over, and it's hard for me to see how the staff would already be confident of a transfer this early.
Problem 3 - why not Biggie? Obviously a PF/C is a bigger need than a SG.
Problem 4 - while searching for info on Wattad, I found a Tennessee HS board. They said he was closer to 6'3" and was overrated.
Sure, I trust JTIII and the staff, but it isn't like they have some long track record of finding diamonds in the rough and can't be questioned. This move just doesn't make any sense to me.

SO he is only ranked #68? What's up with that? He got mono and lost 25 pounds during the summer, after which a number of sites dropped him - but rivals absurdly 30+ spots more than anyone else. His RSCI rating pre-summer was 14, and now is 27. Seems from everything I've heard it should be higher.

I But as far as I can tell projecting forward we need Biggie REAL REAL bad, MUCH more so than wright IMO. for a team with a plethora of big men and not one real point guard on the roster i'm intrigued as to why you feel that way Because there is a decent chance that Hibbert and Green leave after this year, and our only big men would be Macklin, Summers and Ewing. We'd still have Wallace, Rivers, Sapp, Freeman, Thornton, Crawford and Egerson as options in the backcourt.

Just got an e-mail from Steve Alleva (for young alumni tix) saying that we will have 15 home games - so I guess no more to be added. That also must mean another road game, I suppose.

It'd be weird if that was our season opener.
