Keep reading about "Ewing Haters". Who are they? Do they really exist? I know there are skeptics about the hire, including me, but once he was hired I am all in and want nothing but the best for him and the program. I am impressed by the energy with which he is recruiting, willing to give him a pass on the schedule for this year and eager to see his vision for the style and tempo of play for this team. I expect to hold him to a higher standard than many others will, simply because I think that there is more talent on this team than many realize or care to admit. Still just baffled that there could be a hater out there before the first tip-off of the season. there are plenty of haters. Plenty. Getting Phillips would be a real coup. Hope Carter has told him great things about Gtown.

This is our man! Idc whether he commits this weekend or later. He is the priority. Hope the staff rolls out the red carpet. If Govan goes pro we need a post presence to go along with Sodom. Playin for Ewing might be too good for him to pass up.

Anywhere but Xavier. Anywhere but Xavier. Anywhere but Xavier. Anywhere but Xavier. Nah, disagree. Hope to keep all the talent in the BEast. Hope he picks X. I respectfully disagree lol. Mccormick or Bey in an Xavier uniform will only provide more fuel to the skeptics who felt we didn't recruit them hard enough.

If anything...things seem to align ourselves with XJ. The staff needs to show him love, get him on campus and seal the deal. Lets get this done.

The ball is in XJ's court. Not being biased but I think the clear choice is Gtown. If they haven't already, the staff needs to get him on campus very soon. Hopefully the staff has outlined in clear terms why he should join the Hoyas.

Glad Ewing is still on him. Talented frontcourt players in the 2019 class.

Has the ship sailed on being on Keldon's radar? Judging by reading some of the recruiting sites...I would say so.

Do we have a legit shot at this kid? I haven't seen much on this board about him and shouldn't he have his own thread? we're gonna have to "Wow" him. LeBlanc and Fleming we need to have.

This will be big IF we can land him. His circle is keeping it close to the vest. I know in the past we've been spurned by some recruits...but IF Bates chooses us it will usher in a new era of recruiting perception of Gtown with Ewing at the helm. Questions of "Can Ewing relate/recruit to today's young players" will be thrown out for good.

I think Ewing and the staff have done very well with identifying and pursuing Bates and Fleming, 2 underrated BIG's with tremendous upside and multiple developing skill sets. IMO they also dodged some of the more overrated BIG's in this class. To me if the staff is able to get either one is a major win. I personally think Fleming brings more to the table and is the better offensive prospect , Bates is the better defensive prospect but the staff will get a tremendous addition in either case. If Bates does become a Hoya, the commitment of Grayson Carter may have played a major role as it is most likely that the staff only takes one more freshman BIG in the 18 class. Cater's commitment may have pushed Bates into making his decision early in order not to risk Fleming committing on his vis visit. If Bates goes to NC st., the staff seems to be in a good place with Fleming and most likely has to fight off Alabama for his commitment and Ewing and company get first crack at Fleming this weekend. i agree...i think for Bates to abruptly cancel his other visits works in our favor, perhaps Carter's commitment spured that. Also coach Keatts(nc st) has been looking at Mccormick very hard as well these past few days. I like our chances very much. But if not..We're in good with Fleming so far.

He's always been considered an NC St lean, and is widely predicted to go there by the gurus...to my knowledge PE (and staff) went out to visit Fleming and Leblanc but did not do the same with Bates, which would likely not be a good sign (but again, I'm not sure that is the case...I've just not seen it reported)...he may just yield to the pressure of staying close to home ...but to me, albeit biased, for him to turn down an opportunity to learn/grow under a multi year college All American, perenial NBA All Star and HOF player, and 14 -15 year NBA coach who PLAYED YOUR POSITION, wouldn't make a lot of sense to me...hopefully, the gurus are wrong and he will seize the opportunity. you're right. As a big man what better teacher can you learn from than Ewing. We'll see. Im optimistic. Maybe he wanted to see how nc state would receive him before joining us.

We got a 50/50 chance. I just think its highly coincidental that F/C Javian Fleming is scheduled to visit next weekend and now outta no-where Bates will give us his announcement. Maybe I'm reading too much into it...but it is curious to note.

We can all dream...X.Johnson Leblanc Bates/Fleming to go with G.Carter...I'd say that's a nice building block.

Here's the thing. Games like Michigan State are net win-win. If you lose, no big deal, and if you win the upside to RPI (and notoriety) is pretty big. By not having any games on the schedule like that (which we would have had in PK80), you basically limit yourself to running the board and then having a great conference schedule. I generally agree, but I can also see the point that a 40 point blow out could significantly hamper recruiting as it would allow the early narrative to be "Look at all these blow out losses, clearly PE can't coach in college, he's not ready for prime time" which may be more compelling/effective as a negative campaign other coaches might try with recruits than "All these wins don't mean anything bc PE only schedules the weakest teams." very astute observation...you know the skeptics out there can't wait to tell that narrative.

Haven't seen any photo optics of him visiting Gtown since he cut his list. Other schools competing for his services have a pg prospect commit. Unsure what's goin on here...

I would love a Big East championship, and an NCAA tourney bid: Bit given we lost our 2 best players, new coach...I'll shoot for the NIT. I think Ewing will tinker his style to fit the strengths of his players unlike JT3. I think we're better than what's being forecasted. It's just the rest of the conference will be a beast.

The weak schedule will produce a weak RPI and SOS, and these are relevant to making the NCAAs. But is making the NCAAs a realistic goal for this team? We have a team that missed the post-season 3/4 past years, a coach that has never coached in college, and an all new staff. Half the roster is new and the other half has basically played on sub-.500 teams. We have a fan base that chanted and lobbied for the coach to be fired last year and is very demoralized. If we scheduled, say solid A10 or CAA teams, or Monmouth/UNC Wilimington type teams I could easily see us lose at home early on. Would that make the fan base any happier? I doubt it. This year is year one of a strip down rebuild that will likely take at least 2 years, and there is no guarantee that it will work out. So frankly, this schedule is the least of our problems. Well stated...if we scheduled more competitively and lost home games to mid-majors..."fans" would say it's more of the same or Ewing is over his head.

Big gamble with the soft schedule...it would be nice to be listed among the few undefeated teams in the country after non-conference schedule. The last few yrs fans where already pessimistic before conference play even started.
