A commitment from Jordan Phillips would be massive for the program. Right now, most fans and media don't realize how good/talented/skilled/versatile Phillips is. A legit 6'7" Ball Handling/Play-Making guard that will be a mismatch in the backcourt but gives you versatility to play him as well at either forward position and still have an advantage because of his skill set. Can also defend 1-4.
Jordan Phillips and Grayson Carter were teammates on the Dallas Showtyme program this summer Coached by BIG E (Coach Ervin). To my best knowledge the program is not on a shoe sponsored circuit. Probably why both Phillips and Carter aren't ranked higher. Really shouldn't be the case as Phillips averaged 23 points a game during the month of July while mainly running the team from Point. Kudos to Coaches Ewing, Kirby, Orr, and Waheed on finding, evaluating and getting on campus some really skilled but undervalued prospects that are off the normal beat and path. Evaluators will tell you when he commits to Georgetown hopefully how talented and skilled he is.
Phillips is considering Georgetown, Fresno State (OV early September), Arkansas (OV last weekend), and Virginia Tech (scheduled to OV next weekend). Hopefully the staff can knock this weekend out the park with Phillips and Fleming. These 2 along with Carter and maybe Josh Leblanc/Emmit Matthews Jr. (Hearing of a possible visit next weekend) and Xavier Johnson would be an outstanding class and would drive the Ewing haters crazy!

Keep reading about "Ewing Haters". Who are they? Do they really exist? I know there are skeptics about the hire, including me, but once he was hired I am all in and want nothing but the best for him and the program. I am impressed by the energy with which he is recruiting, willing to give him a pass on the schedule for this year and eager to see his vision for the style and tempo of play for this team. I expect to hold him to a higher standard than many others will, simply because I think that there is more talent on this team than many realize or care to admit. Still just baffled that there could be a hater out there before the first tip-off of the season.

Calhoya you obviously haven't been reading much of the articles hit-pieces Hoyasaxa home page or the countless negative post about how Ewing and the BoogeyMan are destroying the program on the basketball side of this board. I agree with you that it's baffling that there are haters before the first tip-off the season.

I agree with you that it's baffling that there are haters before the first tip-off the season. Disagree with your characterization of articles on the front page (disclaimer: I do not write them). I suspect most of what you term 'haters' are not haters at all; virtually every poster here wants the coach to succeed - but have concerns that (I hope) will be allayed by the team's performance this season. Haven't seen tons of posts by people claiming the coach is "destroying the program" either. Regardless, let's try to keep this thread about the recruit.

Hope Carter has told him great things about Gtown.

Another possible Texas recruit, assuming a Kirby connection?

Another possible Texas recruit, assuming a Kirby connection? Yes, played on the same grassroots team as Grayson Carter. According to his coach he averaged 23 points, 5.8 rebounds, 7 assists and 3 steals this summer for Dallas Showtyme.

I see mostly positive comments regarding Ewing. Some folks are down on this year's schedule. Love our '17 class and hope we can top it with '18.

We need to get this kid to pop while on campus this weekend. Tech will be crazy next weekend with Clemson in town for will probably be a Top 10 showdown. The atmosphere will be something that The Hilltop can't provide at this time of year. It could backfire cause Tech is obviously a football dominate school but I doubt it......Let's Get It Done Pat!!!!!

Might help if Ron spelled Javian's last name correctly!😀
Would love to see these 2 gentlemen in blue and gray.

basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/conference-call-most-important-weekend-visitors-1Georgetown The Hoyas dipped into the state of Texas earlier this month in picking up the commitment of Grayson Carter, a skilled and versatile power forward that remained under the radar for the local Big 12 programs. This weekend, Patrick Ewing will attempt to strike again in the Lone Star State as Jordan Phillips, a Rivals150 wing and travel teammate of Carter’s with Dallas Showtyme, will head to the Hilltop. Having already visited Fresno State and Arkansas, Phillips has one other trip lined up, that being a visit to Virginia Tech next weekend. The Hoyas are looking for a versatile wing with size, exactly what Phillips presents. Javian Fleming, an explosive big from Mississippi, also will visit Georgetown.

Is there any part of the court that this kid can't score from? Smooth stroke from deep, has a nice midrange game, can take it to the hole and can post up. Would be a great get for the Hoyas.
