Love the fact he was straightforward in the BE Shootaround interview. An up and down, trapping style fits our personnel. He said Govan and Derrickson are being conditioned and prepared to run. Seems like everyone on the team will get a chance to prove their worth. I'm excited...even he said "Rome wasn't built in a day"...he was here when we were Rome. I take him at his word. HoyaSaxa!

Perhaps these coaches, recruits and parents start steering some of their prospects our way. We've got Ewing, top notch academics, the city of DC: why not? Juss gotta feeling recruiting will open up for the better in other direction.

I think we should atleast make a call to these recruits and see if they're interested.

My gut tells me he is ours. A big decides to commit after Pat visits- makes sense. Also, dad was a pro. you think we have a legit chance here? Odd he would announce w/o taking an ov.

Miami Louisville Arizona...have been roadblocks in our recruiting in recent yrs. It will be good to remove them out of our way for a few yrs. With Ewing's broad appeal to recruits n coaches nationwide and the Georgetown brand in general...i think we'll get some recruiting victories and also be more on the radar with future recruits. I suspect alot kids parents will become leery of certain programs in which it will help our rebuild.

Leblanc or Fleming please. Let's get Horton-Tucker and Hayes on official visits...perhaps make a call to C.Ramey for the pg spot and let the chips fall.

This might have already been mentioned in that if all of these allegations and possible proof of allegations this could potentially be not so good news for the BE. Let's say if the BE coaches and programs come out relatively clean and the other big conference schools start losing personnel. And if these other conference schools are looking to cleanup their act and perceive the BE as a fairly clean conference then it is possible they will be going after BE coaches and other personnel. Losses by way of being clean. If you are right that the BE comes out fairly clean, its all good. Talent and attention will flow to the conference. Nobody is going to poach PE, and if some AAU kingpins are taken off the board, that only helps us as he has made it clear that he isn't particularly interested in kissing those rings. Why would Jay Wright leave Nova to clean up a mess at Auburn or Arizona? Our asset - primary, and maybe only - is our 1980's generated brand identity. As bribes and inducements become less valuable, our reputation becomes more valuable. Its all good you may be onto the something there. The "G" stands/stood for something and Ewing and staff are working to make Gtown great again!

Not to belittle the importance of local recruiting but the 'good teams pull local talent' line is effect, not cause, i.e. good teams have an easier time convincing local recruits to stay... but teams don't need local talent to be good. Let's get good with the players we can get, then the locals will stay i think we'll get our fair share of local guys eventually...Ewing name/pedigree can get him into any gym/high school in the country. I just think Ewing's scope as far as recruiting is much broader towards a more nationwide perspective. The locals who WANT to come will come...the local ones we have to beg or kiss up to...the staff have options to look elsewhere.

How ironic would it be if the majority of our 2018 class hails from the states of Tx, Ms and La. With Waheed making connections out west and Orr/Ewing midwest/northeast/east coast...I'd say the staff has done a great job becoming national in scouting for recruits.

Perhaps maybe just maybe having an "older" staff likes ours may resonate with the recruit's parents more as us being a staff to trust.

Well, this is a fantastic turn of events. Can't see Fleming committing to a school who will be under FBI investigation. Hope they go after LSU/Arkansas and the rest of the $EC next. We would be well positioned with Leblanc and Phillips if that is the case. Can't say I'm shocked. $EC schools have almost no redeeming qualities basketball-wise and within the last couple years even the irrelevant programs have been pulling in 4* and 5* recruits especially LSU Miss State...perhaps its the pressure to keep up with Kentucky. But the optics with LeBlanc and Fleming point in our direction.

This confirms what many of us have suspected for decades. I look at a lot of our past recruiting battles in a different light, and wonder if a lot of the top guys that listed us did so just to include a school perceived as clean and thus make it look like the final choice was based upon careful consideration and not a payoff. While we can never prove it, one wonders about guys that wound up at many of the power conferences. Did we ever stand a chance with them, or did they visit to get free trip to DC? I know this sounds a bit paranoid but thIs appears so widespread that one wonders. This all assumes, of course, that a report of an FBI subpoena served on the Hillltop does not come out tomorrow! I think that's a legitimate case in terms of us losing out on some recruiting battles to potential cheating schools...

Okay, now that this is over, was anyone really all that sold on Johnson? Seemed like there were some serious holes in his game from what I read about him. Was the excitement for him really about his game, or just because he was the only PG apparently being pursued and we felt we needed a win? the excitement was he was from D.C. Team Takeover A.A.U...an aau that has been well chronicled in which we needed to improve that relationship. I think he was stringing us along more than the staff towards him. Chris Jones obviously wants to come.

Is there any confirmation of Phillips visit, feedback, photos, followup commentary, etc...I really like this guy but there hasn't been a peep about his visit... he said visit was "pretty good" and will likely cancel his ov to va tech....citing hogs recruiting insider

Whether XJ commits to us or not...I think it's foolish to base the success/fail of the totality of the recruiting class of 2018 on one particular recruitment. I prefer to wait till 2018 recruiting cycle to be completed before casting verdicts.

Honestly, with the way people talk about our recruiting you would think we are Depaul. Sure the last 2 seasons have been terrible, but before that Georgetown was still a bona fide annually ranked program every year. If we can't beat out Nebraska for a local point guard in our backyard that we want then I am unsure where we go from here. Now, it seems to be a little ambiguous as to whether or not we are recruiting XJ hard, but if we are then we need to close the deal. Would allow us to focus on Leblanc, Fleming, and Phillips. that would be a nice nice haul...

Alotta pressure on Shaka to deliver on the roster he currently has this season to reach the Ncaa's. He could've had the keys to Gtown. But we'll see.

If XJ wants to come then he needs to express it. The staff wants him...us fans want him. There needs to be a consensus. Outside of Chris Jones the staff has not recruited, to my knowledge, another pg player. Both parties need to come to a head and seal the deal.
