Why is it controversial that Ewing wants to build this team and its confidence? It really doesn't help to start the season with a couple of 20+ point losses. Does no one remember the beatings last year's squad took from OSU and Wisconsin? This is year 1 of the Ewing Era ... he's starting from scratch as a head coach in college basketball. He's introducing a new system of play to a roster of kids he either inherited and/or never coached before. In addition to coaching offense and defense there's something to be said for teaching a team how to win. How anyone here can think taking potentially 2 (and maybe 3) losses by huge margins is going to help a new program is beyond me. I think the front page articles on HoyaSaxa regarding scheduling are snippy and not well reasoned. News alert: making the NIT this season will be a victory. Let's learn to walk before we run. agree with everything you just said.

We've got too much program/potential recruiting steam behind our backs to dwell about this Pk80 tournament. 2years from now fans will forget this. When JT3 scheduled tough and we started losing those games, "fans" complained...and "fans" now want to complain because we've done the unpopular, most shrewd move to exit the tournament. So far every negative roadblock "fans" have thrown at PE and the Staff they have met to fix. Wins and losses are another matter, but the Staff has planted alot of seeds that will be fruit. Support the program. Trust the Staff.

In less than 6 months PE and staff are methodically transforming Gtown into a national destination school again. We have the facilities, basketball lineage, location(DC), academic reputation to directly go toe to toe with any school in the country. PE and staff have realized this. We've begun to mend relationships with programs in the DMV, made inroads up n down the east coast and have a presence in the south and beginning to branch out west. Kudos to the staff making the effort. It will pay off big time.

Kopp LeBlanc Bates Fleming Bernard...all on their final lists while the staff has had less than 6 months on the job. The staff's diligence will eventually bear fruit. But I commend the effort. Recruits are intrigued about the thought of playing for Ewing.

Interesting when he mentioned Gtown, he actually talked about his player development. The other schools playing time/being the man.

Team Loaded VA and the New England Playaz attracted a pretty impressive head coaching crowd. Kansas, Duke, Oklahoma State, Penn State, Utah, Florida Gulf Coast, North Carolina, Pittsburgh, Seton Hall and Virginia Tech were just a few of the programs we saw represented. David McCormack is certainly a big priority for a few on the list and the previously mentioned Nate Laszewski is getting more and more popular. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/bossi-s-takeaways-thursday-in-vegasIf we can get him to come to campus, I think we certainly have a real chance here.

It's moments like this that really highlight how out of touch some of you are with Georgetown's current place in the college basketball world. There is no way that Georgetown is better off without them. Crazy talk. You're right but it does give our staff the greenlight to continue to pursue, perhaps more aggressively, those frontcourt players who have mutual interest in us.

pleasantly surprised by this news because he had a lot of schools late trying to get in on him. To make his final six is commendable by our staff. Let's keep pushing!

that is very encouraging news. Don't think it should be minimized. It would be great to keep him close to DC. Maybe he meshes well with some of the Hoyas at Kenner.

Haven't seen him play other than clips, but know they scouted him earlier this month... Looks like he has some descent skills, but could be a depth signing in case Jessie Jumps.. I think Govan does jump to NBA...and feel like we need least 2 frontcourt guys for 2018 class.

It is August. Some want to gripe about anything. Ronny Thompson? lol. Talk about a reach. Its one game. One game. People griped about the staff because they are so impatient. Ewing exhibited patience and diligence. He hires a solid staff. People griped about the recruiting class, not fast enough, we need a staff in place. Can't land anybody. Ewing lands a solid recruiting class with barely anytime to recruit when he got hired. Ewing decides to pull out of this game, with a new system, new staff, some new recruits and players playing in a new system. He wants to get his guys ready. You don't feed steak to a baby. Maybe coaching Ewing feels getting pasted by MSU won't do us any good. Baby steps. Ironically, Coach Izzo, known for grueling schedules, had second thoughts and apologized to his team last year for having such a grueling schedule. Thought his team didn't have enough time to practice and develop. Now, maybe that wasn't a reason for pulling out because we don't know the full schedule. We will eventually. Maybe we will have some tougher games mixed in with some cupcakes. We don't know Baby Steps. Patience. Trust Coach Ewing. Seems like people want find fault with anything Coach Ewing decides. Outside of maybe the Ronny Thompson hire, Coach Ewing has done an admirable job up to this point considering the circumstances. Go Hoyas! Great Post the_way! The Ronny Thompson hire doesn't bother me, but I agree wholeheartedly with everything else you stated. GO HOYAS! I think you spoke for alot of us with that post.

These last few yrs I felt like we were at least sweet 16 game good before the season started:this season, I'll say NIT is a positive 1st step.

It certainly does not hurt to inquire about him...especially if Govan heads to NBA this season.

It's a Prudent/Shrewd move. Typical fan overreaction. Ewing told everyone this yr will be tough. We're rebranding from scratch and Ewing's instilling new culture. I trust the process. 2 seasons from now when we're rolling all this will be an afterthought.
