Ohio transfer Mark Sears has been hearing from a lot of schools since entering his name into the transfer portal. Sears averaged 19.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.1 assists this season and is starting to set up his visits. “There's a lot of schools reaching out to me but Mississippi State, Georgetown, Texas, Alabama, and Miami are the ones that check in on me daily,” he said. “Right now I'm trying to get some visits situated but I've done a virtual visit with Mississippi State and I'm supposed to do one with Georgetown today. I'm going to try to get up to Alabama's A- Day game. I think that will be the day my visit will be. I'm also trying to get out to Miami, Texas and Georgetown as well. I plan on taking all those visits before I decide.” “I want to make my decision around late April, when school ends so I can get my stuff situated, set up summer classes so I can get right to work.” Sears knows what he's looking for in a program. “I'm looking for the right fit where I'm surrounded by great players,” he said. “My role will be key, the spotlight, the stage where I'm playing against the best night in and night out and being able to prove myself.” 247sports.com/Article/College-basketball-transfer-portal-Mark-Sears-Mississippi-State-Texas-Alabama--185830419/Hargrave guy. Dunno about his “great players” requirement, but I’d take him in the proverbial NY minute. Pretty please. Mark, here’s the ball. It’s yours.

I'm more with calhoya on this one. If this rumor is true Dante won't transfer up but they're plenty of schools around our level that will take him in a heart beat. Dante issues were more feeling that he had to do too much for our team. I think when he was surrounded by more talent he played better. I also doubt that Ewing is running him off. He probably doesn't expect Aminu back and doesn't want to live through another year like last year. It the rumor is true it's disappointing because I always viewed Dante as the type to want ownership over the team. This would tell me he is a lot like Ewing in not taking any blame for why things were so bad last season. Kid should be grinding but instead he is running... It is really hard to blame him for leaving is this is true. He is part of a team where there is a mass exodus, friends are leaving and he is completely unsure of what the team will look like next year. As of right now the returning scholarship players are Motumbo, Riley, Holloway, Bristol and Wilson (although that rumor mill is swirling too). He is probably looking for a stable situation where he is certain he can develop more. He didn't construct the roster so I don't see how he has to take any blame for the lack of a team around him. I would not "blame" someone for doing something that they have every right to do. Still, it's difficult to see that Dante should have any complaint with the treatment he's received here--at least from an on court perspective. As far as the departures go, we are losing teammates, so he'll leave for somewhere where he has all new teammates? I wish him well, but, unless he's been told "we see you as a backup next year," a transfer doesn't make a great deal of sense to me.

You guys are funny as he'll! PE isn't a good coach? The players don't feel that way. Don't get me wrong he has his flaws but he is a good coach. The endless bitchfest in here is unbearable. Gloom and Doom! But I bet when the Hoyas start winning next year all you haters will High fiving each other, screaming HOYA SAXA! yall bleed Blue & gray as long as they're winning. #FUGAZI you guys love to hate the team like Randy Quaid in Major League 2. It's hilarious! I recommend that people stop griping and try to guess who you used to be. Sort of an offseason diversion.

All the best to him. Sorry that he didn't see more PT in a season that was lost anyway.

Came for news on the Hoyas and found that much of Hoyatalk has turned into a huge echo chamber with many posters simply trying to prove that they hate Ewing more than the next guy. This is an exaggeration.

I know things don’t look good, but making predictions before transfers resolve themselves tells me someone in the news biz has too much space to fill.

We know why these trust fund kids are really upset. They will not allow Ronny to join their good ole boy network. Lmao! Okay… that’s kind of funny. In a stereotypical way.

Hard not to notice the impacts of Brady Manek and Remy Martin, two fifth year players from Oklahoma and Arizona St., respectively. Kudos to the Martin parents for their naming skills.

Never really noticed but Kansas is by far the least accomplished of the "blue bloods". Some of that is reflected glory from James Naismith, although he's the only Kansas coach with a losing record.

How badly is Kansas going to beat UNC in the final? Kansas favored by 4. I'll take UNC and the points. Thank you at 4.5. Great game. See you next year.

I agree with this assessment. My point was generally that Ewing has had five years, and we are worse in every respect than when he took over. Maybe our sticking with Ewing despite the fact that every other program in the country would have fired him and the ridiculous extension we gave him last year will help us attract a top coach when the inevitable parting of ways occurs. The new coach will know they have the longest leash in college basketball. I really think this is as simple as (a) DeGioia/the Board made a colossally bad mistake in giving Ewing an extension after the BET win when it wasn't necessary, and (b) firing him would not only require DeGioia to own the mistake, but it would also lead to an enormous payout that would raise the ire of people at Georgetown. Agreed, and I also think that it’s possible to break down (a) a bit more. I would speculate that the BET win gave the interested parties the opportunity/opening to do something that they were looking for a reason to do anyway. We might sit here and wonder how it’s justified, but, when maintaining a status quo is part of the culture, one looks for opportunities to do so. And winning the tournament was just such an opportunity to postpone indefinitely issues related to change.

9797, you definitely have no credibility. Now you are making accusations that someone will be charge with fraud. Lmao! No, if this were a business that was actually held accountable by stakeholders, this incredible mismanagement might very well be subject to fraud claims. It’s hard to explain this any other way. But, it’s GU so this will keep going and people like you will continue to cheerlead for these morons. Honestly, they are accomplished people. One can certainly question their approach to the b'ball program and knowledge of the current game, but is it the Hoya way to call them morons? And I don't believe that saying that makes me some kind of toady.

Please don’t take this as political, but why is Madame Speaker in attendance? . She is a Georgetown parent, married to an alumnus, a previous honorary degree recipient and was among 12 people recognized at Saturday’s dinner. Shorter answer: she has lifelong connections to Georgetown. Thank you. I knew some of that but was unaware she was being recognized.

The Board must not have the stomach to fire coach Ewing. I get it, it may be hard for some to live with that decision because of what he means to the university as a player. Ultimately, that's probably true. But now, with the hasty extension, they have financial considerations to lean back on. I suspect one primary reason for the extension was to benefit the PTB as much as Patrick by providing an excuse to keep him and not have to make the decision in the event this year turned out poorly.

I’d say there’s noise and there’s different noise. Noise based on learned info (e.g., the extension, our offensive and defensive stats, our record within the BE, Ronnie) provides a substantive foundation to shine a light on what’s going on. Then there’s repetitive bashing saying stuff that’s been said over and over. Yes, JDG let the school down. Yes, Pat has proven to be a poor coach. As to this noise, I seriously doubt that saying the same thing 1,000 times as opposed to 500 times matters. Just as the way you get more annoyed by people posting the same thing on PE and Jack 1000 times than posting 500 times, the admin will get even more annoyed receiving 1000 calls/emails rather than 500 calls/emails about the same complaints I have talked to one of the dudes who has somewhat of an influence onto the program and he was spewing out how annoyed he is with all the complaints; 5x~10x them and we will see a chance sometime soon At this point, its those who are trying to secure their pockets in expense of this program and the joy of the fans vs. the diehards who want to see the program being relevant; feel free to side with who you wanr Just for the record, I said nothing about calls/emails directly to the school. I also said nothing about being annoyed with anyone. The topic was the effectiveness of rthe various forms of "noise" hey.

So then give them noise. But attacking them here just means a ton of friendly fire. Agree to disagree. We need more noise here and on campus. I’d say there’s noise and there’s different noise. Who needs syrup of ipecac when you have this? It’s really going to feel weird to root for UNC. This needs to stop.
