I'd argue the opposite--if a kid transfers in, he's probably less likely to transfer a second time. I know that just happened with Alexander, but that was something of an exception and does not happen often. The rule requiring players to sit out when they transfer is specifically designed to discourage players from transferring multiple times in their career. This is a kid who did not stick out one full season at a school and no one here can figure out whether he's transferring or trying to go pro. I think the worry really isn't "does he transfer a second time", it's does he quit midseason with no warning? Stability is an actual thing to worry about with recruits that Ewing is not worrying enough about. We need practice players at this point too. Bring him in, get him to realize the league is possibly never going to happen unless he develops. He probably has a better shot in college than in the G league. Beggars can't be choosers right now.

I wonder if the pay cut would be palatable coming from Kentucky.

Walton is absolutely brutal. Unlistenable. I have not seen many highlights of O'Neal's game, but those highlights from that ND game certainly showed a skill set that the Hoyas could use on the team right now. Having transferred multiple times is never a good look, but leaving Arizona made sense after the allegations against that program. I am not sure why he is leaving UCLA. It sounds like some people are saying it is strictly a playing time issue, but I thought he was getting regular minutes this season, but I have not watched any UCLA games this season. I have read that UCLA is struggling this season and the new coach, Cronin, is trying to rebuild the entire program. Is he leaving because of the uncertainty in the program? I really don't know anything about the kid other than he is Shaq's kid, had some health issues and was a fairly highly rated recruit who expressed some interest in Georgetown before committing to Arizona. I would think he is worth kicking the tires on to see if there might be a fit. Cronin is also a class A D**K! I'ld give the kid a chance as we are desperate

Agree taking two kids is better than not but it’s far from ideal. Our last five years have been far from ideal. I am frankly embarrassed that we lose to schools like Xavier & Providence on the regular who have no right beating us out for recruits on our turf (Marshall & Watson).

Just saying I’d rather have an experienced 1 like an Allen situation. Bringing in a maybe type pg isn’t going to install a lot of confidence in the kids already in the program. Bring in both if you can. As has been mentioned, you won't know about the grad transfer until crazy late in the game.

Beggars can't be choosers and that is where we are. At this point bring in four and let them sink or swim. We've got spots. This team needs everything accept a #2 and a #5. I would say we still do need a 5.....Yurt leaving and we have no reason to believe that Malcolm or Tim will be ready for meaningful minutes next year. One of them better be. Today's sophomore is like a senior from '85. Guy has 2 years in the program, a legit training program, and with player movement you can't map out more than two years anymore. Tim also just started with hoops so in theory, the ceiling should be quite high. I would say the same thing for Wilson as he just needs to eat & lift non-stop for the next nine months.

I know the program is in need of bodies, but bringing in two freshman point guards who really won’t be ready to play from day isn’t the smartest move they can make is it? Sort of like two C projects in the same class. Beggars can't be choosers and that is where we are. At this point bring in four and let them sink or swim. We've got spots. This team needs everything accept a #2 and a #5.

Maybe we can get Reid and this kid. Put Chet at the 3, Reid at the 4, Wahab at the 5.

I like the fact that he acknowledges that coach Ewing is a no nonsense guy and he embraces that type of coaching. I do worry some times that some recruits are not attracted to that type of hard coaching and it may cost the Hoyas some players they might get otherwise. A lot of the higher level recruits have not had to be coached hard for most of their high school careers, they have always been the best athlete on the floor and have not heard much criticism from coaches. This is not to say these guys don't put the effort into their development, because in order to get to a high major D1 level, these kids all work hard, but some have not heard, and don't want to hear, a coach talk to them about their mistakes and what they need to do better. I look at Coach Ewing as an "old school" type of coach and hopefully there are enough talented recruits that want that type of coaching and understand the benefits that can come from it if you embrace that mentality. I agree completely, and thought the same thing after reading his quote. Also, if you saw the recent video clip on twitter of Terrance Williams, it kind of references the same thing (he ultimately went with a coach that better fit his personality). With 3 years out there now, recruits will have a clear picture of PE's approach and whether it fits their personalities. Hopefully, time will attract those who are best fits with the culture and approach of the program, and help iron out those who are not. I would venture to say that out of the recent transfers, one definitely was not cut out for PE's "old school" ways and needed more stroking of the ego. I'd rather loose a recruit early on, because they could not handle the approach, then have to deal with a transfer later. I get the sense PE makes no apologies for who he is (just ask Thompson never did), nor should he as it is part of what made him one of the greatest to ever play the game. I trust he'll consistently start finding his "best fit" players. I saw Williams in AAU practices. That coach was a yeller. Maybe he just wanted a different approach. Kid never really appeared sold on Hoyas.

Pickett played great. People on here fall in love with scoring. I don't think Mac had a good game, but he scored so people feel like that was a decent game. He was sick and it showed. He had a lot of turnovers. Jamarko has played great D and helped tremendously on the boards. He took good shots that didn't fall. Keep it up!

another must win. I hate Marquette. WoJo isn't a good coach. Akinjo waiving off Ewing cost us the game last year. Let's make it two in a year preferably with healthy foul free guards.

Maybe he will be Ewing's Jonathan Wallace. I would love a four year guy who commits to his coach & will play the right way.

Except the missed dunks, a lot of the Yurt stuff seems to be effort related. Those things are improving however as he will need to crank up the motor on D to be really successful. John will be an interesting test from Marquette. Not much to worry about from him on O but got to block out and probably just shoot over him. When he misses his little in close hooks it looks like the ball flatlines on him and he isn't extending the hook. He really saved us last night though with Allen & Mac struggling being sick.

7500 people is pretty good for mid week game, especially given we aren’t ranked or anything. Team looked 1000% better In first half. second half lull wasn’t Too unexpected given the lead. Not as concerned with that. Yurt needs something. Pep talk. Tough love. Not exactly sure. Mosely, Blair, Allen - all played really well. Mac and Pickett were the stars i think Yurt has gotten the message I think based on his pre-eyecut effort. He went for a couple dunks and seemed in tune. Frankly I wish he would drop a bow or two to someones temple. yes, it might get him the flagrant 1 but damn he needs to toughen up. His default is Euro soft. I think he has it in him and that he is trying.

Right now we really won't have a point guard on the roster except the incoming freshman. Akinjo was a top 100 PG and while we played great at times, he cost us a lot of games last year (marquette at home comes to mind). We also will lose big production inside as Qudus probably can't replicate what Yurt can do on O. We will need some offensive production on the roster for next year and it is kind of scary to think about at this point but I am sure the staff feels the same way.
This really is a make or break year. 2 games in is too early to panick and I have faith we can get 8 to 9 wins somehow but damn it is hard to imagine at this point.

If you’re a believer, just pray that destination isn’t here. If so, God help us all. Agreed! Not a fit and I don't want kids that bounce after less than a semester. I hate the new environment of kids transferring if they don't get their way. Definitely representative of where we are in the world with parenting, politics & social media.

Ewing will be all over the transfer market when the time comes, but right now if he can snag a few 3 star types similar to Gardner's quality, I think it beats taking juco's or another transfer. I know it means next year is more of struggle, but building through transfers is not a path to sustained success, you miss on a few and you have no fall back plan. At least swing for some 2020's and if you strikeout, you still have the postseason market. For some of these players, Georgetown will be their best offer, which will make them think seriously about us. That said, Ewing better be using a filter that removes questionable characters from getting an offer. Absolutely no need to gamble on a 3-star type of player. At this point, Ewing has run out of chances. The guys he brings in going forward need to be committed to being Hoyas long-term and comfortable with Ewing as a coach and the University as a whole. If that is not the case, you pass. EXACTLY! I'll say it, you gamble on a questionable personality that is a five star and can take you over the top (AI & Victor Page are two examples from my era). You don't gamble to get to .500 in big east play.

Was going to say the 2nd best scenario is getting SH with Powell on his 1st game back...all the confidence gained by the role players will be wasted for that game and Powell will likely be really rusty.... That and with Mamushakevli out, we should win this one. Yurt will have to deal with the length of their center. He has been getting by on grabbing boards over the top of smaller foes. That isn't going to happen in BE play. MCI, I hate to say it but so far I have been correct! You kind of dumped all over my premise. Yurt isn't getting the stuff he got against lesser foe. Maybe it was that Mac was out or maybe it was that 7'2 was much harder to handle than 6'7. I just hope he can adjust in the next few. I am one of those who feel like things aren't as bad as they seem, nor were they as good as it seemed during our 6 straight. Maybe SMU, Ok ST and Cuse would be 9/10 teams in the big east. I think that is a real possibility and we need to really crank it up a bunch over our next few games.
