Need to show up and start the game on time. Back to proper spacing and moving the ball on offense and talking and help on defense.

Need to play hard and smart for 40 minutes. Need more from Pickett if we want to win this one. Not going to say must win...but we need this one.

Can't keep digging ourselves into holes, especially such large ones. Need to share the ball and get everyone going. Realistically, we need at least 5 of our 7 to be clicking for us to be successful
Playing with 40 minutes of common sense and intensity wouldn't hurt either

It's as close to a must win 3 games into the BE schedule you can get. A win and at worst you're 2 games under .500 with 2 home games upcoming. Lose and you're staring at 0-4 and a 9-5 finish required to make noise. I dont like those odds.

40 Minutes of Hell. The last thing this team needs. Allen needs to be smart and able to break that press. Press, press, press and run and gun. We will have to be conditioned and really ready for this one. St. John's attacks the paint relentlessly and does not stop pressing. Roberts plays about 1/2 the game and is the real guy of size St. John's has. After today's performance, dare I say Yurt should have a good game. If Allen can play as he did against Oklahoma State, SMU and Syracuse, this is a very good matchup for the Hoyas. It's at a similar pace that the Hoyas want to run and the size matchups are not bad at any position.

This game should be much better than the first 2 because SJ Hs no one to punk Yurt7 so the offense should run better.

You would think with the shortened rotation and guys playing more minutes than they're accustomed to that the fatigue / breakdowns would happen late in games. It's been the exact opposite, which signals a lack of focus, preparation and effort. I'm willing to give a pass against Providence given Mac's absence really put several of the remaining guys in awkward roles that they weren't suited for. Bit I expected a better and more sustained effort in the first half of tonight's game.
Need to see a far more desperate team show up on Wednesday and a staff that has made the necessary adjustments at least try and put the team in the best position to win.

You can play with intensity and poise at the same time. We aren't right now.

We played like a JV team last night. Basic fundamentals were poor.

Lose this one and the only thing I'll be reading here for the rest of the season will be the recruiting thread. Must win game.

Sure we must win this game. But not to "save the season". That train left the station with the loss of our best power forward and two best players off the bench. This is a must win game to avoid the BE cellar, retain any hope of an NIT bid, attracting quality recruits, and ultimately saving Patrick Ewing's job. As I said before the BE games started (and as several of you are now acknowledging) that 6 game winning streak was a fluke. We're not playing AU or Samford or several very weak major conference opponents. I think that with a little luck and better performances from Yurt and Pickett we could squeeze 5 BE wins out of this season. And yes, the recruiting board will become our primary go to reading.

ESPNs algorithm has us at 70% to win which probably translates to about -6 spread. Hard to see that but I'll be cheering for a more focused team next week. I don't think we need this to save the season but we need it to attract interest from recruits. Finishing at the bottom of the BE will not help us no matter how much playing time we have available next season.

Last couple of games have seen too many guys trying to do too much indiviually - they have to recognize their limitations and play within themselves and unselfishly in order to get back on the right track. defensively there's not a whole lot more we can do, although I'd like to see Pat mix in a little bit of zone on a possession here and there to try to save Yurtseven's legs as much as possible. All that hedge and recovery work wears the big guy out pretty quick.

All that hedge and recovery work wears the big guy out pretty quick. While I would love to mix in a little zone here and there, it's obvious from the little we've used of it (Providence game comes to mind) that we've not practiced it or have the personnel to use it successfully. Still surprising since one of the guys on staff SHOULD have some expertise playing in it and deploying it, but for whatever reason it's never been an option seriously considered for increased emphasis by the staff. Would like us to have our bigs stay closer to the paint and start daring some of the other team's bigs to hit 3s with regularity. We continue to give opposing 4's and 5's way more credit than they deserve in being perimeter threats. If we can't take away everything, I'd want us to at least defend the rim, crash the glass and try to run opposing lead shooters off the 3 point line. Everything else, I'm willing to give up and if the other team is able to win with that 3rd/4th option, then we just tip our caps.

Not going to give up on this season's goals until we have a chance to play some home games in the BE. This one is a biggie because we will be favored. I am hoping the familiar environment and routine will bring back the team that was moving the ball and rolling on offense. Hopefully the role players will pick up their games at home and that can be the difference. Also, Yurt must look at this game as an opportunity for redemption.

So let me get this straight Quigs. You are officially giving up on the season. Yes. Not in the sense that I won't go to any games or watch every game on TV or stop caring about the Hoyas. But in the sense that I don't feel about our chances like I did a month ago. I have to be honest with myself. We just don't have the talent anymore to compete with our BE opponents. Let me ask you prof, do you think Jamorko Pickett, Jahvon Blair, and Jagan Mosley would start for any of our BE opponents? To be honest, do you think any of them would have started on any of our last few NCAA teams? And haven't you been completely unimpressed with Yurts performance against other big men? Give me LeBlanc and Gardner and a reformed Akinjo and I would still be amped about our chances. But sadly, I feel we are closer to Pat's first year than we are to an NCAA bid.
