If Cooley vets him and says yes, sign him up. He has plenty of talent. He would help us at least get to tier 3 of the BEAST. Baby steps...and more if things click...

I do not want him gone. What I want is guys who would run through landmine-infested fields to deflect a pass for the Hoyas or beat an opponent to a loose ball. If Brandon adopts that attitude, and works to make THAT happen, he and the Hoyas will be fine, and hopefully he can make money by playing basketball at some point.

Two from the Big East in the round of eight is pretty darn good. At this point I am rooting for Creighton to win the whole thing.

We need to get to tier 3 before tier 2...

I will be okay as long as we do not get the assistant coaches from "He's Got Game." I am pretty sure they are headed to St. Johns.

Stepinac? My father went there before GU. It is interesting that they have become a basketball powerhouse.

Neither III nor Esh deserve the criticism that was thrown their way. III was a great coach. The stars of his best run were recruited by Esherick. That is the way it works- getting a commitment from a gangly Roy Hibbert in 2001 helps to lead to a Final Four in 2007. And while Roy and others deserve credit for his development, the reality is that he was a talented player, who the staff identified very early. It ALL comes back to recruiting. One of the best things III did was bring Jon Wallace.
Plus, while Hibbert was a project as a freshman, he was not that bad. Many may recall the game against Notre Dame (?) in which he had a game-winning dunk and ten points or so. He was not some awful project who could not walk and chew gum at the same time.

I hope that SJU loads up with talented NYC players and that we have epic battles with them again.

Fair enough, but that is a different issue. I believe Allen signed a NLI, and I think we should honor that if he still wants to come to GU.

Ah- understood- guys like Don Reid or Henry Sims must have been hot garbage. No chance they would for instance, make the NBA...

That also is important. Allen should not come to GU unless he is willing to put in the work and, potentially, sit for a few years. College basketball players did that for decades.

Respectable team next year
NCAAs year three
Somewhere in years five to seven, have a chance to make a run
As others have pointed out, we should not expect linear progression. There may be ups and downs.

That would be great. I just hate this "WIN NOW/ WIN YESTERDAY/ WIN TOMORROW" attitude that some fans seem to have. It is unreasonable and distasteful. Let's let the man do his job and support him- you know, like fanatics of the team are supposed to do!

Best of luck to Coach Cooley. He is a good coach who has the potential to excel at GU. I will be patient with him and do not expect any miracles or immediate transformation. My expectation is a multi-year process of getting competitive again. I would be happy with being on the bubble in year three. If the team exceeds those expectations, that would be incredible.

Big East 4-1 in the first round. I will take it! As much as I hate them all, especially You Con, I hope to see at least two in the Sweet Sixteen.
