100% accurate complaint by Craig, albeit perhaps not expressed in the most persuasive way. If Big Mike had played in the era of a few years ago when fouls were called on every play, he would shoot twenty free throws a game.

I would be incredibly happy with being on the bubble in year three, although I think it is very possible that things could be better than that. As this process shows, there are many moving balls and the science ain't exact.

They should have hired Shammond irrespective of whether he could bring anyone!

Hoyas and Terps lose out here- which does not mean anyone did anything wrong, of course. That is just how these things go. You have to pursue guys of this caliber to get them. And who knows how it will play out, as there do seem to be some entitlement issues.

Look, I am not angry that this thread exists. But it would seem much more appropriate IF there is ANY indication that the Hoyas are pursing this young man. Otherwise, it comes across as weird at best.

Why is there a thread about this player? It does not sound as if the Hoyas are involved.

Very talented player who was a plus defender. Losing him so early in his career was a blow to the program for sure.

Can’t the answer be as simple as the kid(s) LIKE to play basketball and much of their identity is tied to it too, since if they are good enough to play in college at any level likely theyve spent much of their life having great fun and success playing the game? I get the deflated basketball thing but precisely because one knows it will end soon is the reason to play now (as there is no real later), and thus the chance to play more and in a different place with new experiences has real appeal? I never played the game myself (or any sport really) but did have an activity I loved at GU and it just happened to work out there but if it hadn’t I’m not sure I wouldn’t have been looking for another chance with a few similar schools. My bottom line: we need to be very careful imposing our prism on the views of others, and neither “the chase” nor “the prize” has to be the NBA — maybe it’s just to play and be happier doing so while one still can? There are of course instances where one has to wonder about/really question choices made and constant movement (leBlanc and akinjo being prime instances) but those higher profile examples I think are the exception rather than the rule of players who just want to be happier someplace else (maybe they just overestimated their ability to begin with/were sold the proverbial “bill of goods” to get them to sign on the dotted line)? This debate is interesting, but in the end, most of us on this board value a college degree much more than many college basketball players. Many of them value playing ball, having fun doing it someplace they are happy, and having the chance to keep the ball bouncing at the next stop.

If Denver works hard and regains his shooting touch, he will play at SMU. Good luck to him!

FWIW, my comment about Don Reid (one of my favorite Hoyas of all time) and Henry Sims was to refute the comment that good players never have to sit for a year or two in college.
Henry Sims was indeed a stud in HS. It was documented fairly well that he did not really work too hard at GU (by his own admission) until he was an upperclassman, at which point he played very well.
Don Reid's HS numbers were okay at best. But Big John saw his frame and correctly figured what he would look like after a few years in the weight room. The guy was a beast as a junior and senior and had an amazing NBA career, give where he began.
I have no idea what will happen to Allen, but hope it works out for all involved.

Spears is very talented, and though yes, he has a long way to go, his ceiling is pretty high. The guy has elite speed and ball handling.

I hate You Con, but I love the Hoyas and Big East, so I want them to win. It would be a nice showing the for league.

I liked Primo fine, and I have seen a lot of Love. His shot is suspect, but he is an athlete and plays hard. I think a program that has won thirteen games in two years could stomach it to take him.
