Love it. But can we bring back the 80s Hoyas instead? 80's were for real! Dominating!

Just love the way Cooley has approached his time at GU thus far! It all demonstrates that he:
Has a plan That plan is to win, restore the program Share the success with a wider community

I can’t recall the last time—not going back to the 80s—that I have seen such impactful recruits right out of the shoot. I don’t understand the reluctance to say we are going to be “pretty good”? No impact recruits since the 80’s? No, no, I didn’t mean it like that. Just meant that I was not talking about the 80s! Of course we have had many: Porter Green Munroe Etc.!

Very happy with where we are and the job the new staff has done so far. Don't know where we will finish in the BE this year but the dread I felt in prior years has been replaced by excitement and anticipation. I would be ecstatic with a winning record and making the tournament. Like I said, I would be over the moon!

Our roster has certainly filled out. It's got a few positional holes. It's also made up of a lot of former 4 star recruits who didn't necessarily perform in college to that level yet. So there may be more than just the clearly visible holes. But there's raw talent there in many cases. We're thin in ballhandling and in bigs, but we do seem to have athletic guys on the whole who want to defend and a decent bit of shooting. With some proper coaching, there's a decent team there. I agree with the assessment. And, I do believe we have the “proper coaching.” Let the games begin!

I believe we are going to be a pretty good team. Love the upgrades all the way round! Not sure I'd go so far as to say "pretty good," but we're definitely trending upward. I am just in awe of what coach Cooley has been able to pull off in just a few short months! It also speaks volumes about the Georgetown environment, the history and traditions! After Porter and now Sorber, I think we can begin calling GU, Moms’ university! If you have got the momma, you have the son!

I just love the versatility at that position! We haven’t had this in along time.

My take Ed Cooley believes that was destiny that brought him to Georgetown. Georgetown is/was his dream job. There was no doubt in his mind that he was going to make the move. Ed Cooley sees the huge potential of Georgetown’s basketball, it’s coveted location in the nation’s capital, its fertile grounds for recruiting, his daughter—maybe his family—loving the city feel, the real opportunity before him to restore the glory days of Georgetown, make a name for himself and sooner rather than later, become the coach of a new era in DC.
Don’t mind the rhetoric, Cooley sees this job as an opportunity in so many ways!
Can you blame him?

That man is brimming with confidence! He is a coach who projects a confidence of knowing how to win. Not only that, but he really gets it! The G needs to go back into the Georgetown basketball program!

Regardless how we do in his first year, I think this was an excellent hire. A little bit of a throwback to John Thompson, while having a softer style. Love it! We need to throw out John Thompson, not throw back to him. He got a building, a court and a statue. The tab is paid many times over. No Thompsonectomy means patient dies. Does hearken back to JT with his closeness to his players!

Sounds to me like he wants another, maybe, bigger challenge in a new environment.

If not Pitino then hire * a young coach with (at least) mid major head coaching experience * who likes his team to play end to end, and * who has a swagger (an edge) to him * has no existing ties to Georgetown University. My point, exactly! I find Pitino intriguing but not a fit for Georgetown. I said a couple of weeks ago: Someone who can coach Looks like he or she can coach Young enough to grow into the job

Sure sounds, from what both men are saying, like they are in the mix to be Georgetown's next head coach. Cooley, sounding real coy. Pitino emphasizing how he is all about winning.
Actually, Pitino may have moved the needle in his favor a little bit with that comment. Winning is not something we have had a lot of around these parts lately. Certainly got my attention!

Thanks Coach Ewing. You love your school. You tried your best. It didn't work out.
The highlight was winning the Big East tournament title. That was a cool moment. Moving forward, it is time for new blood. Let's get a young (or relatively young) up-and-coming coach with head coaching experience. A leader with attention to detail, especially on the defensive end. Shooting the 3 and defending the 3. That is today's game. Get some assistants that have recruiting ties to B-more, PG county/DC and Northern VA areas. Someone who understands the current college landscape of recruiting and what a student-athlete of today means. The old guard is being phased out (Boeheim, K, Williams, Jay Wright) for a reason. I agree. We need a younger coach who can win the respect of today's players. Over at UConn they are playing aggressive basketball, defensively clawing after everything. They are also always looking for the 3 point shot. That's what we need in a coach. With all due respect to you. Patrick Ewing has left this program in shambles Tried his best...Patrick Ewing stopped having practices getting paid $4 million per year Where I am from not practicing is no where close to trying your best to win. It's like taking a test without studying for it.

Having gotten lured into the conversation, let me just say I don’t think Rick Pitino is our guy, either. Have nothing against the man; watched him for many years as a coach; and yes, he is a great coach! I would love to see him hired at Georgetown in some other role, just not as the head coach. We need someone young and upcoming as the partial face of the program.
