Two teams playing the best basketball in the final game. Arguably, the top 2 coaches in the game as well. Love to see the two styles going against each other and seeing who wins out. Like both coaches, but wouldn't mind seeing Michigan winning out. Beilein is a great coach. Big East vs. former BE coach.

Yeah! Need something between now and next season where we can all make foolish predictions based on Kenner play.

I am in deep grief over Duke losing. My three hate schools, Duke, North Carolina and Kentucky will watch from home. No, I don't hate Syracuse or Villanova, worthy opponents in my view; and ones I loved to beat.

We need defense more than we need a PG.

We have 5 BE wins. I predicted 6 for the season. That's about as close to a guaranteed victory at 'Nova as you can get. Done deal. Then why didn't you predict ten wins?

My reflections on the season nearly over. 1. What an exciting brand of basketball Ewing has brought to Georgetown. Even in almost all of our losses, it's been fun to watch. 2. At the end of the season the Hoyas are much improved compared to the start, due to hard work by the guys and the staff. Team rebounding, foul shots, and foul-avoidance are all much improved. Even our point guard play has ramped up over the last several games. 3. We have been able to compete with virtually all of the other Big East teams. But not with Nova - so far. 4. Despite some personnel deficiencies, the Hoyas are now a very good offensive team. We can score. 5. We are not a good defensive team. Unfortunately this is not something easily fixed as much has to do with deficiencies in athleticism which, in turn, is difficult to fix. The other difficulty is many other BE teams are good offensively and hard to defense. 6. The other giant deficiency is that of turnovers, but it is a mistake to blame this solely on guard play as more (?) of our turnovers have come from forwards and centers.
Assuming all non-seniors return for next year, we add Mourning (maybe), Malinowski, LeBlanc, Carter and McClung. Next year promises to be similar to this one though we could eke out another win or two.

One is a scholarship on paper and under NCAA rules and the other was in a brown bag handed off in a parking lot.. Your explanation cuts to the heart of the matter!! What does this have to do with federal law?

2. What is the difference between South Carolina giving P.J. Dozier about $6,000 and Georgetown giving a quarter of a million dollars in tuition, board and other expenses to a recruit? One's against the rules and everybody knows it and the other's within the rules and everybody knows it? BTW, I think the $6,000 was allegedly funneled from the agent not SC. NCAA rules. What about the difference re federal law?

Bribery is against federal law. This is the bribery statute which is being used to prosecute the coaches/recruiters and shoe reps (under conspiracy 18 USC Section 371). The coaches/recruiters are agents of their universities and their universities receive in excess of $10,000 in any one year period. While some may quarrel with the use of federal resources to prosecute a case such as this, the statute seems relatively clear and not much of a stretch. 18 USC Section 666 (a) Whoever, if the circumstance described in subsection (b) of this section exists— (1) being an agent of an organization, or of a State, local, or Indian tribal government, or any agency thereof— (B) corruptly solicits or demands for the benefit of any person, or accepts or agrees to accept, anything of value from any person, intending to be influenced or rewarded in connection with any business, transaction, or series of transactions of such organization, government, or agency involving any thing of value of $5,000 or more; or (2) corruptly gives, offers, or agrees to give anything of value to any person, with intent to influence or reward an agent of an organization or of a State, local or Indian tribal government, or any agency thereof, in connection with any business, transaction, or series of transactions of such organization, government, or agency involving anything of value of $5,000 or more; shall be fined under this title, imprisoned not more than 10 years, or both. (b) The circumstance referred to in subsection (a) of this section is that the organization, government, or agency receives, in any one year period, benefits in excess of $10,000 under a Federal program involving a grant, contract, subsidy, loan, guarantee, insurance, or other form of Federal assistance. www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/6661. Define corruptly. 2. What is the difference between South Carolina giving P.J. Dozier about $6,000 and Georgetown giving a quarter of a million dollars in tuition, board and other expenses to a recruit?

It is a legal stretch to say that any of this is against federal law.

This sounds odd -- a guy named Cruz as a white nationalist group member? The leader of a white nationalist militia says Florida school shooting suspect Nikolas Cruz was a member of his group and participated in paramilitary drills in Tallahassee. Jordan Jereb told The Associated Press on Thursday that his group, the Republic of Florida, wants Florida to become its own white ethno-state. He said his group holds “spontaneous random demonstrations” and tries not to participate in the modern world. Jereb said he didn’t know Cruz personally and that “he acted on his own behalf of what he just did and he’s solely responsible for what he just did.” He also said he had “trouble with a girl” and he believed the timing of the attack, carried out on Valentine’s Day, wasn’t a coincidence. Nineteen-year-old Cruz has been charged with 17 counts of premeditated murder in the shooting. apnews.com/892a28db92924e2faa15e7b90a5b843fLocal authorities say they have found no evidence linking him to white nationalist group.
