By all means let's jump right in with legislative changes before we actually what know the facts are. That makes much more sense.

More than 10,000 homicides a year are committed with guns in this country. That's a fact. "Now is not the right time..." is the refrain of those who believe that it's never the right time.

Our culture is broken. It will take generations to fix but it's time to start. Guns have to go. Incremental improvement over time is ok until we eventually look back at this time and wonder how it was even possible that this could happen.

Studying the facts would be a great starting point, but the CDC and NIH are barred from studying the issue, and the Trump administration has removed public datasets for just about everything.

Also: facts in the Trump era will simply be turned into "alternative facts" or "fake news" if necessary.

Do you really think the gun problem in this country is a disease or health problem and not a crime problem?

Do you really think the gun problem in this country is a disease or health problem and not a crime problem? I think it can be expressed statistically and I think you're arguing semantics.

According to hoya9797 and his ilk, "guns have to go" and we need "complete gun control." Who needs statistics or facts when you have the solution already?

I consider myself a conservative on many topics....but guns totally have to go. Its a joke that its somehow okay for civilians to have weapons that are intended for the military and mass destruction. Its totally insane really!

By all means let's jump right in with legislative changes before we actually what know the facts are. That makes much more sense. The fact is that a lunatic legally got his hands on a weapon intended for military use and killed dozens and injured hundreds more. What else it is that you need to know?

And what other facts do we need to collect about gun violence? Have we not learned anything from Orlando or Newtown or Columbine or Virginia Tech or any of the literally THOUSANDS of other shootings that happen in this country every year? Or are we still waiting for all of he facts to come in on those?

There's nothing to see here. If slaughtering all those babies in Connecticut didn't move Congress (clarification: the Republicans), what makes anyone think that this will? Just another blip.

Nevada voters had voted on stricter gun laws as concerned buying guns at gun shows and the internet. Attorney General Adam Laxalt (double degree graduate from Georgetown) refused to carry out the voters' wishes. He is also the spawn of the late Pete Domenici and Michelle Laxalt, Paul Laxalt's daughter when Pete knocked her up when she was a young Congressional staffer. “One night’s mistake led to pregnancy more than 30 years ago,” she said in her statement. Domenici, who was 50 at the time of the affair and has eight children with his wife Nancy, had little involvement with Adam’s upbringing, his mother said in announcing the senator’s paternity: “My interaction with my child’s father consisted of telling him my decision, asking that he avail himself for health-related purposes and asking that he agree that this remain private between the two of us.” (Domenici had apparently kept his word for three decades: “My family has been aware of these events for several months,” he said last year when the news came out.) www.politico.com/magazine/story/2014/05/who-is-adam-laxalt-107095
