No - not the seats. Please do not mention the seats.

This thread got me thinking that perhaps GU should consider putting names on the back of jerseys. Personally, I've never been a big fan one way or the other (tho I do tend to give a not of the hat to teams that don't, since they seem to be bucking the trend). However, if you're trying to expand the fan-base, it may be better to have names rather than just numbers. It's easier to remember from week to week that the player who has impressed you the most is named Banks or McArdle, as opposed to #24 or #7. Names make the team a little more accessable, so this may indeed be a good time for GU to go with the flow.

And to think we (namely I) assumed that Penn would be taking the best offer to play at Franklin Field. Maybe Penn likes the idea of a California trip for recruiting reasons...

Ah yes, it was the Dukes. My mistake. In any event, there are probably lots of teams that would like a one-time shot at Penn in 2006, even on Franklin field. That alone would likely make GU's chances at getting the game pretty remote no matter what we do (which is what you noted anyway, DFW).

Well, for what it's worth, I recall Penn having a last minute scheduling vacancy last year and filling it with Stony Brook or someone similar. While I'd love for the Hoyas to play the Quakers in 2006, it may that Penn would prefer scheduling someone a little easier, and I'd like to think that GU presents more of a challenge than a team out of the NEC (particularly by 2006).

When you say Carmel, you mean the Corsairs and not the Caravan, right?
Either way, thanks for the details on Osterhout. This class is sounding more and more like the class that will push the team into the realm of competitiveness in the Patriot.

Found a Rivals listing for one of the players Hoya71 listed from the Post: Emir Davis, DB/RB (5'9"/170), Hun School (Princeton, NJ) Looks like Davis excelled playing both ways, made the NJ All-Prep team as a junior, and, impressively, appears to be a hell of a student. georgetown.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?pr_key=19744

The list you linked is indeed the only Rivals list available, and I understand GU was 'ranked' only because GU happened to net a recruit 'evaluated' by the Rivals service. I was simply cracking wise about the fact that Lehigh & Colgate didn't happen to have any recruits listed with Rivals, so they didn't make the list at all. Sorry to mislead; I should have put a 'winkie' in there or something to indicate I was kidding. There; it is done. I'll put one here too, just for good measure. By the way: Thanks to Hoya71 for posting the unofficial list from today's print edition of the Post. Those of us beyond the regular distribution area of the Post appreciate your service.

We blew Lehigh & Colgate out of the water (according to Rivals)! I believe our good day draws near...

Looks like a lot of local talent. I wonder if the absence of recruits from Cali, TX, etc., indicates that the staff is getting better talent locally now, or if the staff feels the investment is not worth the return.
Or, it could just be a fluke.

I would have thought so too, but the way the whole process is being skewed towards making your 'announcement' a big to-do, I'm open to the possibility that it may be more common than I would have otherwise thought.
Heck, if you'd have told me six months ago that some blue-chippers would be invited to disclose their decision nationally on ESPN, I wouldn't have believed it.

Press conferences are nothing. Have you heard about ESPN's 'announcement' show? I think it's great that people are involved with their teams, and like to follow prospects, but a nationally televised announcement show, that's ridiculous.

Andrew Hartigan is the younger brother of Brown's Nick Hartigan (Soph. RB, 1500yds, All-Ivy Team), right?
Here's hoping his career is every bit as successful as his brother's is shaping up to be. ;D Thanks for the news (and the pics), and...
Welcome to the Hilltop, Andy.

Lehigh has announced its recruiting class for 2004, and it does not include the LB out of Texas, so GU's odds may just have gotten better, although I presume the LB is still looking at other programs. It appears that LB, Patrick Martell from Pearce HS in Richardson, TX, signed with D-III Trinity University in TX. Seems a little puzzling, given that he reportedly had offers from Lehigh & GU, but I guess he wanted to stay closer to home and be a big fish in a little pond. Good luck to him. www.wfaa.com/sharedcontent/dws/spt/city/richardson/stories/020804dnriCEacob.1b713.html(free registration required)#nosmileys
