In a press conference earlier today, Robinson (Fairfax, Va) Quarterback Andy Hartigan announced that he will be playing football next year at Georgetown.

Andrew Hartigan is the younger brother of Brown's Nick Hartigan (Soph. RB, 1500yds, All-Ivy Team), right?
Here's hoping his career is every bit as successful as his brother's is shaping up to be. ;D Thanks for the news (and the pics), and...
Welcome to the Hilltop, Andy.

Press conferences are nothing. Have you heard about ESPN's 'announcement' show? I think it's great that people are involved with their teams, and like to follow prospects, but a nationally televised announcement show, that's ridiculous.

Regardless, I don't think press conferences for IAA bound players is common in the least.

I would have thought so too, but the way the whole process is being skewed towards making your 'announcement' a big to-do, I'm open to the possibility that it may be more common than I would have otherwise thought.
Heck, if you'd have told me six months ago that some blue-chippers would be invited to disclose their decision nationally on ESPN, I wouldn't have believed it.

yeah- it makes for pretty horrendus tv viewing- and I don't think we need to sent these kids the message that they are well accomplished already. They get that from too many friends and family- which is why you have so many jerks in the NFL and NBA. (Hockey and MLB have a far more humbling system of minor and junior leagues.)

The press conference was for all of Robinson's players, but the majority were there to see where the #1 recruit in Virginia Olu Hall was going. He picked UVA.
