What is our offense? We have no post-up players. We don’t try to run or get any fast break or easy points. We hardly ever set high ball screens. Our players don’t know how to properly run a pick and roll. Our offense seems to consist of having our PG dribble for 30 seconds or run a three man weave, both of which end up with a guard having the ball at the the point line with 5 seconds left trying to create his own shot. What’s next? A return to the JT3 reverse spin dribble 35 feet out from the basket? We run high ball screens constantly. Epps frequently refuses the screen, or teams wisely jump it or hedge very hard because our ball handling is poor. I don't disagree that the action isn't successful for us but it's more an issue of skill (not being able to efficiently attack off the dribble after the screen) than it is one of scheme. The point of the weave is to force off ball defenders to constantly move from a help position, to a denial position to on the ball. It's the same principle as passing quickly around the perimeter against a zone as a means to try to open up the interior. It's not an action designed directly to get a basket but as a way to create space. Tons of teams at all levels do it. We have no post play, true enough. That's why we run the constant cross screens down low. Because getting the ball to a post player any higher than point blank is useless. I would like to see more off ball action for threes for our shooters. The problem is that when we get flare or stagger actions, most teams either straight switch or show hard. And then screeners aren't good enough to take advantage of the resulting temporary mismatch. I'd also note that the guys you would run those plays for aren't particularly quick off the ball. Bottom line: Just like there isn't a lot you can scheme on defense to solve the fundamental problem of a primary defender not being able to keep his man in front (necessitating help), there isn't a lot you can scheme on offense when guys can't ever beat their man off the dribble or with a cut. It seems our guards do not want to put the ball inside. The few minutes Ryan was in he was wide open after his man doubled Epps or Brumbaugh. I high lob a few feet in front of the basket would have been wide open at the basket. Similarly they never feed Cook inside. The guards need to learn how to make a bounce pass. The talking heads speak all the time of an inside outside game, they never speak about an outside only game. Yet this is what our guards seem to have decided to play. That being said there has been much more team ball played this year then the last several under Ewing so Coach Cooley needs to get the guards to remain focused on playing team ball with all 5 team members on the floor.

This is nothing but conjecture on my part, and I hope not in defiance of board rules, but it wouldn't shock me at all if Ryan took his grad year next year at an Ivy to round out an impressive degree profile. He's a GREAT representative of the school, someone who loves being fully integrated with the general student body, and who prides himself on being good at a laundry list of endeavors from singing in choir, to playing the guitar, to his education, to basketball and beyond. Ryan will likely end up being a very honorable alumnus of the university down the road - it just won't be as a difference maker on the court - and there is nothing wrong with that. Hate to be the one to point out that Ivy League schools do not allow 5th year or Grad Student players which is why many of their 5th year players have been in the portal.

I would argue the review was to determine whether he made a 2 or 3 point basket and the review should have determined that he made neither since he was out of bounds!

By any objective standard at all Trump is greater than 50% likely to be but he is CERTAINLY the indisputable favorite after Meatball Ron got roughed up by the Mouse. Does this mean the republican primary will be Mango Hair vs. Hairball Ron?

I believe one of the issues currently is that there are States that have regulations that apply to NIL. Other states have no regulation on NIL and no federal regulations that apply to NIL. I believe what would be best would be National NIL regulations that apply to all states and supercede state rules and regulations. I do not believe this necessarily should be in the transfers conversation but probably in the NIL conversation.

When I was a young physician, representatives of the pharmaceutical industry would want to have access to me and other physicians to provide details of why their newer more expensive drugs were "better" than older less expensive drugs. It was an opportunity to advertise their pharmaceuticals to physicians who could prescribe the medications. By the late 1990s the pharmaceutical industry was no longer frequently providing golf trips and other more "luxury" detail opportunities but they would arrange to have ten or fifteen minutes of a physician's time while a physician would order a meal for his family. During this time the physician would listen to the "detail" by the pharmaceutical representative. Congress, the Center for Medicare Services and the Justice Department had no difficulty finding this payment for a physician's time to be gravely unethical since the provision of a meal for a physician's family would provide an incentive for the physician to write prescriptions for the detailed medications.
You cannot tell me that Millions of Dollars in detail time over 25 years for Harlan Crow (and whatever other attendees paid him for the accesss) had no effect on Justice Thomas. The entire Judiciary Committee should be not only asking for Thomas' resignation but also asking that every 5 to 4 decision over the last 25 years where Thomas voted in the Majority be reviewed and the opportunity provided to every losing side in those cases to have their cases reviewed and if still relevant retried!

Stick the transformers on remote controlled movable platforms and give the controllers to the kids. When they just happen to forget their toys in the front driveway it is age appropriate behavior and should not be punished. Just like the neighbor kid who plays baseball or football and who's ball always ends up being left in the front yard!

Not to depress anyone but Wahab is a senior, Wilson is a senior and Mozone is a grad student. They are the only ones who do not have definite eligibility remaining although with the COVID year they may all have remaining eligibility? If Patrick Ewing were retained, I can't imagine he could recruit new players because who would want to come to the school with the longest ever losing streak with the same coach. However, if he could keep the team from all transferring and Jack let him stay with one win, he could have a third season to try to win two Big East games!

Given that people at the very top are doing this crap, what do you want to bet alot of people lower on the government food chain are as well. If a private company not the government were doing this with protected information, the government would impose hefty fines, the justice department OIG would list their name on a public internet site and they might appoint a monitor to oversee the company. The company would be required to prove they had a compliance program in effect to minimize the possibility it would occur again. It seems to me the Justice department needs to impose a classified documents compliance program on all the branches of our governemnt starting with the White House!

It’s actually one of the weirdest things in college sports history that a lily white university in a prestigious, and exclusive-to-a-fault, neighborhood in DC became associated with black and inner city culture. Strange situation. Define lily. The Georgetown student demographic is variously listed at 48% White,, 10% Asian, 8% Hispanic, 7% Black, 5% multi-racial, and the rest international or chose not to disclose. I'm thinking the 22% who choose not to disclose are also of a paler skin hue.

Look on the bright side. Criticism of individual players, which I was never very comfortable with, has essentially disappeared. There are pretty much no threads with a player's name now that all of the bile can be directed at Ewing. It's his team, he's paid extremely well to take the heat, and, at the end of the day, he bears the responsibility. So now when player X launches a ridiculous three, makes a clueless pass for a basket the other way, or backs down into the paint to allow his man an uncontested three, that player gets a (deserved?) pass because . . .Ewing. The only player I really criticize is Primo. I only really criticize him because some of his forced shots seem to occur simply because he hasn't taken a shot in a few possessions. Almost like he's saying, "I've waited long enough".🤷🏾♂️ To be fair his shot percentage is not that much lower than the other guards and with all his turnovers if he passes the ball it may just lead to a quick layup for the other team. Plus if he passes it the shot clock may expire while if he shoots it there is a greater than zero percentage chance it might go in.

What could happen for the rest of the season that hasn’t already happened? The Butler game and the second half at Marquette were disasters, and the losing streak has reached record proportions. So we lose to ‘Nova or St. John’s or DePaul or whoever? It seems pretty clear that JD intends to play this out until the season’s over. My best to the guys on the floor. I believe among the power basketball conferences, Northwestern's streak of 28 consecutive conference losses is still the record. We have eclipsed one Chicago basketball story of woe and will likely also eclipse the other. At this point it is pretty clear that the team will finish the year with the same coaching staff unless one or more of the assistants decide to walk away. Have to support the team for the players while hoping as soon as the season is done an announcement and a vigorous search can begin during the NCAA tournament month. I think Coach Ewing and the administration were hoping for a Leonard Hamilton type turn around. Clearly any such hope should have long ago evaporated.

I have always attended the GU Depaul game since Ray Meyer and John Thompson were the coaches. It gets me out and usually I take my family. I have not gone in 3 years. Just can't see spending the money to drive home after a loss. I will watch from home and hope for the best but we are only 2 games shy of joining Depaul's two 24 loss records in the Big East. 3 losses and Patrick Ewing will have the record to himself. I would never have imagined GU would let itself fall so far.

Have to wonder after McCarthy fails the first vote for speaker whether the dems can get some NY, NJ, CONN, California and Illinois republicans to nominate a moderate republican Democrats would be willing to vote into the speakership. They might be smart to do so with the promise of reversing the SALT tax rules limited by the Trump Tax plan. I know many high earning republicans and democrats in high property tax states are paying far more in federal tax since the Trump Tax "cut." Proposing Liz Cheney as speaker and getting her some moderate democratic votes would also be a way to reward her for taking the risks she did serving to protect our democracy. Probably couldn't muster enough votes for someone not actually elected for Congress but it would be an interesting statement!

I wish I shared your optimism but despite having "better players" this year's team has a worse out of conference rating than last year. I agree that statistically regression toward the mean is the rule so statistically it will be hard for the team to go for zero this year. Sorry to hear Dante Harris is in the portal, so yet another inopportune transfer. Statistically, doubt if there are other teams that have had so many players leave during the season at other schools that retained their coach!
