4 hours from now, Shrewsberry could be THE hot candidate.

Poor Roy needs to tweet Goodman to get this answer? He doesn't get a direct line to Reed?

Pikiell would be an incredible hire, but my understanding is Rutgers put a huge buyout in place.

To state the obvious, Shrewsberry's stock is improving rapidly.

Don't know who needs to hear this, but you're not "doing someone dirty" if you take a better job for a 50% pay raise.

Could not possibly care less about "stealing" another team's coach, this is a business. But it's very annoying to me for that Pitino's history is disqualifying but this is fine.

If we're really willing to pay 6-7m for a coach, is Cooley really the very best we can do? Why not Smart?

Pitino is so far and away the best option. This is a joke.

I also think that Micah Shrewsberry is probably just going to use us to get a better deal for himself at PSU. And when we whiff on him after a polite decline from Cooley and not engaging Pitino, the fan base will begin to meltdown. Great post, want to emphasize this part.

Whoever is our next coach needs carte blanche to hire his own staff, not be dictated to by Ronny Thompson that Jon Wallace will be part of it. And I loved Wallace as a player.
Wallace is also overqualified to be an assistant coach at a rebuilding college program.

DeGioia, asleep at the wheel as expected. The story of the death of this program over the past half decade.

We're getting played by Cooley, and our incompetent President is letting Pitino slip away while it happens. Unbelievable.

Who are the relevant board members to contact as an alum on this issue?

I don't think Jack understands how much latent anger there is towards him from the alumni that loved this program, that he ruined. It faded to apathy over the past two years, because only the sickos still here bothered to follow the day to day of a team that went 2-38. But the program is interesting again now, and those alumni are seeing what's happening.

Goodman reporting that Pitino prefers Georgetown to SJU but Georgetown won't do it. The utter incompetence continues to astound.

The news that the boosters bought out the contract seems false. If the boosters had bought the contract out then Pitino would be in play. Ewing is gone, who paid the contract off then? Presumably, the University.

Can we stop wetting the bed over every AA coach that's mentioned and Ronny? The $11M that someone plunked down to get rid of Ewing has a lot of gravitas. Apparently not enough gravitas to get our admin to make a run at the best coach of his generation, who wants the job.
