THis happens all of the time. Pitino has done this a few times. That is also how "Larry The Brown Turd" got his NC at Kansas. He hired Danny Manning's dad.

Not to say anything negative about DeMatha because it's a fine school but this will do Chris some good basketball wise but more importantly academically. It's a very strict environment at Hargrave and get Chris in order. This shouldn't have any impact on his commitment to Georgetown. Good move. That is nothing against Dematha. Chris needs to get his stuff in order, and there is nothing but order in Chatham.

If we consider Texas as part of the west, then I would include Nolan Dennis(6'6 SG) as one of the best wings that GU has a good shot at also.

Chuck, I appreciate your starting these threads about possible targets, but for those of us w/o any real clue on recruiting, could you also say a bit about them? I'm not asking for a treatise, but a paragraph on each new recruit would be awesome. Thanks. Will do.

TBird, Did you really just use the word treatise on a basketball message board? LOL. I just had a college flashback.

I can think of several '09 players out West who rank higher than Hollis Thompson, not the least of which is Renardo Sidney. I don't compare wing players (Thompson) with post players(Sidney), or guards (Holliday) with centers (Witney). Sidney is probably the best prospect in the country. I used the word "might" to describe Thompson, because he is quickly developing and has great upside. Thompson is developing into a good one, and it is good that he is already very high on GU. That does not mean that he won't end up at UCLA, nor does it mean the GU won't just stay local in 09'(Judge, Armwood, Taylor...). It would be nice to get a kid like Thompson out to visit this summer in somekind of unofficial capacity, so the coaches can determine how serious he is about coming east. He visited GU as a freshman, and really liked it, so we will see if his game has improved to the level of earning a GU schollie.

JT3 has a great eye for talent. Witney might be the best prospect out west in 08' and Thompson might be the best prospect out west in 09'.

Jeff Withey reopens recruitment
He will probably go to a Pac 10 school.

This is the strongest/deepest draft in years. Next year will be weak. Jeff knows he will go top 5 next year.

All of the lottery talk here in Boston is either about Yi Jianlian or Al Horford. Jeff's name is hardly ever mentioned. Barring a trade or complete incompetency, the draft should go: 1. Oden 2. Durant 3. Conley(I don't see him as a top 3 pick, but it is ATL) 4. Wright(UNC) 5. Hortford(have not gotten consensus opinions of Yi yet) Boston's only strong point is there wing players. That is the only spot that they have depth. They need a 4-5 depending on how you where you want to play Al Jefferson.

I can understand why he was not 100% into it. The AAU circuit can get monotonous. His quotes in that Kentucky blog are very interesting. For those that have not seen him play, I will try and re-post some video of him this weekend.

The question is will we take a kid from the left coast over some of the local talent available in that class. Prob so, but there is a lot of area talent. good question. If he is that much better, yes. If it is about even then it is safer to take the local.
