you have to remember, in Memphis there are strong fan-bases for MANY schools...Memphis is the home-town team, and we have a LOT of support, but there are fans from Arkansas, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Vandy, and even Arky State in Memphis...and many of their supporters try and minimize what we do at the UofM. sports 56 in Memphis is a very pro Ole Miss station, they are mad we dropped them to add Georgetown, so yeah...they're talking about how Georgetown is only a "top 25" team and such simply to make the Mississippi folks happy. we Memphis folks know what kind of program Georgetown is, and we're very happy to be playing, it should be a great game. we enjoy having fans from all schools on our board...it makes for a VERY diverse environment, and brings about some great discussion. memphistigers.org has over 15,000 members...and it's still growing. if you want a slow, back-and-forth between Memphis fans go to: yourmemphistigers.com as for John, i guess i get to see a side of Cal few ever do...he's a good man and is just as important to the Memphis community as he is to our university...this will be his 8th year in Memphis, and he loves it here...his kids love their school, Ellen has lots of friends here, and John has really found good routine here. as for his UMass days, i didn't know much about him then...i know he had nothing to do with the Marcus Camby thing...the NCAA cleared Cal and even the NCAA ethics board said it was all on the sports agent and Camby himself. either way...John's a good guy in my book. Go Tigers!!! Drew Go Tigers!!! Drew OK, I was going to stay off of this thread mainly because I do not care. However, after reading it, I propose we ban uofmemphis simply for the 5 minutes of my life that I can never get back(LOL). Now I have to take a shower after reading this Calipari poopoo.

Calipari as crooked as they come, see Cambi, Bright, and Wagner. Kentucky could not touch him because he is a baby Eddies "Suxton." But it will be good to play down in Memphis again. The truth is there are a lot of shady coaches in at these major programs. There was a reason that Bruce Pearl was black balled after his Iowa days...

And he has consistently mentioned GU. Are you talking about Morgan or Monroe?

Cole Aldrich and Morgan both play around the basket, so I do not see them as a good fit to play at the same time in the Kansas system.

Agreed. I have always considered Morgan as going Bit 12 that is why I have always listed GU's 4 targets as: Monroe Dunigan Goode Gillgrest But It is nice that GU is right there with Morgan because anything can happen... Monroe is highly intelligient and a perfect fit for GTOWN both on and off the court. He knows he has areas of his game that he really needs to improve on before he starts thinking NBA. Right now he holds the ball at a 45-60 degree angle before he shoots. This causes his shot to be very erratic. It is short some time and then he over compesates and it goes long. He needs to focus on keeping his elbow at 90 degrees, to gain consitency. He also needs to develop his post moves, if he aspires to be a great inside-outside threat. That is why he realizes that GU is such a good fit for him. JT3's system allows for Monroe's complete development... Great info Chuck--one thing I find interesting with Monroe is how nobody talks GU in his recruitment--despite the fact the kid has mentioned Hoyas ever since III's visit and it's funny to see how overlooked Hoyas are --many fans ask "Why go there--they run that Princeton....." and proves they don't watch games-Monroe would get to showcase/work on his skills in games and not just off the court and be stuck as a PF or Center. I'm not saying other teams do this--but it's funny how Hoyas get bashed for "that offense" when fact is it's taken kids who were underrated as HS players and rated below the higher ranked kids and made them future Lottery Players--or present dependent on what Jeff decides. As for Morgan--is he skilled enough to play alongside Cole Aldrich? Aldrich is a pure Center-no PF skills at all and he's a post up player--which I've heard Morgan is as well-we know Braswell and Sims have face up game and are more versatile then Aldrich--so does this factor in at all? Aldrich isn't going to be an early entry candidate either--he needs polish/work on his game and will be a 4 year player-and 3 at best if he exceeds expectations. Key is to see who visits soon--with NBA Players Camp this weekend--we might see some kids stop by on their way out/back from it and we know the suspects--Monroe, Dunigan, Goode, Morgan, etc......and Gilchrist is someone I don't know for certain on level of involvement but he's available too. I never take much stock in the listing of who a player is interested in. Most of these services are behind, because there are a lot of kids and to much info floating. Also if these services mention a kid's interest in Notre Dame, Duke, UK... it gets them more interest. Most Hoya fans follow this board, so I don't see Scout going out of their way to hype up GU prospects(Rivals does a much better job IMO). If Jason Clark was a Duke commit he would already be rated as a top 5pg. Is the skills camp in Richmond again?

Morgan's the kid who traveled to our road game at Vandy this past season--to see Hoyas, which is cool. I'm hearing he's a Jayhawk lean--but it speaks well that Hoyas are in strong position with Morgan, Dunigan, and Goode--and it's obvious that III has made Greg Monroe his top target this Spring/Summer, so we'll try to make his final 5 and battle it out from there. I ignore the 1 and done talk--you have to go to college and PRODUCE to be 1 and done--and if Monroe does so--he's worth the time because his academics are worthy of being admitted to Georgetown as a non-athlete--so that is type of kid you should take in a 1 and done possible situation in my opinion. Agreed. I have always considered Morgan as going Big 12 that is why I have always listed GU's 4 targets as: Monroe Dunigan Goode Gillgrest But It is nice that GU is right there with Morgan because anything can happen... I would love to see a PR player in a Hoyas bball uniform!!! Although it's the first time I hear (see) his name, I know one thing: he would play his heart out day in, day out. Garcia will decide between IU and L'ville.

Yeah, I just mentioned the Garcia situation in Samuels thread: "Lets hope L'ville lands Angel Garcia. He and Monroe are the same player(Garcia is better shooter), so Monroe would not go to L'ville. Garcia was thought to be an Indiana lock, but he just visited L'ville this weekend and he extended his stay... "

People should not worry about ratings/rankings. Clark will be an all time Hoya before his days on the Hilltop are complete. He will be shooting 250-500 shots a day before he gets to college, so his shot will improve and so will his handles. He already has the IQ, heart, and work ethic.

Are we in the market for ANY traditional small forwards? The JTIII offense doesn't demand it, but all we seem to recruit are pure guards and big men lately. 08 is the year to get bigmen, 09 GU will get wings.

Tubby is trying to make a run at Dunigan. It is probably late in the game for Minnesota. But if he does not end up at GU, I would not mind seeing him at Minn and give Tubby's program a jump start.
The tricky thing about Dunigan is that there is a lot of talk that he wants to be a package deal with Matt Humphrey his freind. Ill has slow rolled Humphrey and now they have offered. I'm not sure how this thing will play out...

We're near the top of his list if not leading. A well-connected poster on the DePaul rivals board says we lead. It will be a GTOWN vs. ILL battle for Dunigan.

I hope Tyreke Evans goes to L'ville. There is NO way Mornoe would want to play with that kid. Evans will take every shot to show case himself for the league. Monroe is an unselfish team player, but nobody wants to stand around and watch the Tyreke Evans show.

Not to turn this into a Monroe thread, but from what I read I think he's either said, or I've gotten the impression, that he plans on being a spring signee. Do you think that makes it harder to recruit him? You have to keep a spot open for so long. If we had two players that we really liked willing to commit, would we hold out on one just to wait for Monroe's decision? It seems like a big gamble. Monroe's decision to wait is great for GU. As them Hoyas are making a run to the NC, it will only help. The recruiting competition is DUKE, LSU, and L'ville. If Jeff comes back, then GU should have the best season out of those teams. There are a couple of schollies left, so waiting on Monroe is fine. If Dunigan wants to commit now, GU takes him and holds that last schollie. Because Goode and Gillgrest still need to get some things in order anyway...

Chuck, are you saying Tim Floyd just hired Greg Monroe's coach or are you referring to Floyd hiring that juco coach who delivered a few players to USC. Sorry sleepy. NOT Monroe's coach. It was the other guys.

There aren't that many jobs to go around anyways so if they can swing it, then fine. I would assume our top targets in that class are now Monroe & Davis. This was probably the case before this decision anyways. Does that sound right? Monroe and Dunigan are our primary targets. People did not like when I joked about hiring Monroe's HS or AAU coach, but that happens a couple of dozen times each recruiting year. Tim Floyd just did it. The funny thing is that Arizona basically just did this to Pitino with Jeff Witney, so Pitino turns around and does it with Samuel. So who will hire Terry Davis as an assitant, he was doing some assitant work at V Union. I do not think Roy would do that at UNC, but UCOnn or UVA...
