I doubt that. Spencer's problem -- and it wasn't his fault -- is that recruiting gurus completely overrated his ability when he was in high school. He was Anthony Perry before Anthony Perry was. good point. But Spencer's skill set would still have been better in the current GU system.

Monroe can play the wing too, I don't think III would shove him in the post just cause he's 6'10. Duane Spencer wasn't a post player and he was 6'10. I just threw that in there cause they're both from Louisiana. Seriously, Monroe is very skilled and talented and warrants all the praise he's getting. Rivals also has a nice blurb in the rankings section, as well as in their wrap up of the Kingwood Classic a couple of weeks ago. I spoke with a kid that played against Monroe in that tourney and he marveled at Greg's overall game and high b-ball IQ. Very naturally athletic and skilled. Duane Spencer would have been all world in JT3's offense.

Ooops, almost forgot, I did a piece on him towards the end of last summer on i95ballerz.com, if anyone wants to check it out. go to archives or past articles when you get to the site. I was just on the i95ballerz.com website. Is there some kind of search tool, so its easier to find past articles?

No chance at Pat Patterson. heating up with Monroe. Not likely with Sarmardo and Davis. Both seem to be ACC leans at this point. Samuels: UNC Davis: UVA Patterson: UK or Fla. Monroe has Gtown listed on Rivals now along with his other top teams. With Sims, Clark, and Braswell already committed, Monroe should be JT3's focus. There are not really any bigtime guys left in 08' that Gtown would want except for a nice wing player. But that would be a bonus. GU should only use 4 of its schollies in 08 to have more balance in future classes...

I hope JT3's visit went well with Monroe last week. I love the fact that Monre and Sims are both 16. They both have sick upside. Monre has Odom's skills and Dunken's mindset...

Sims is rail thin, but has a nice touch. He is not super athletic, but he is long. Armwood looks like he will be a stud. Vinson and Creek have a lot of potential.

Great article. Well JT3 has a fighting chance. Tyron Mouzon sounds like a good coach. He really cares about Greg as a person and that is important in his future decisions. Mouzon has a lot of potential...

Its great that JT3 is going after him. It will be tough to jump in considering all of the major programs that have been after him longer. But it will be good for the NATIONAL COACH OF THE YEAR meet with the best player in the country.

I'll have to check on Monroe this evening. Didn't know he had Hoya interest. I did not know that Monroe had Gtown interest either. I thought he was locked into Duke, LSU, and Kansas. But SFHoya99 said that JT3 is visiting Monroe this week...

Everyone knew that Brandon Wright was like Odem and Durant, one and done. They were going to programs where the could showcase and go. He would not have gotten that opportunity at GU. Macklin and Summers where better longterm fits. Now with Green gone next year, if Greg Monroe wants to be one and done I am all for it being at Gtown. One and dones are an interesting issue. One, a lot of the players that people claim are one and dones do not end up being that way. I have no problem with a player that ends up being one and done, but I'd rather stay away from players who proclaim themselves to be one and done. Why? 1) They are on the team to showcase their skills more often than not; not to win. 2) Rarely are they interested in class at all. It's still a University. And while I think athletes should be able to major in their sport, I want our student-athletes to be student-athletes 3) I think it can completely mess up your teams continuity, scaring off replacement players, clashing with upperclassmen, etc. Obviously, this isn't always true (OSU, 2007) but I would point out that someone like Oden never seemed like he was in school just to make the NBA. Exactly

It is hard to judge freshman, unless they are already physical specimens. Most prospects make their growth between there sophmore and junior years...

I know JT3 was in Pitt this weekend at the AAU tourny. I'm sure some new prospects caught his eye.

Didn't want to start a seperate thread on this, but another kid to watch locally in terms of recruiting for the future is 6'8 Wally Judge--believe he plays with DC Assault--he's getting serious looks from Hoyas and is a BEAST. I really think we could see GU turn up recruitment of Jamar Samuels too--he was/is favoring Tennessee at the moment but attended Prep and worked/improved his game and was quoted last Summer as admitting "Georgetown is my favorite team". He played locally at Archbishop Carroll in DC prior to leaving for Patterson Prep in NC. Frank Ben Eze, Jason Clark's teammate at O'Connell is going to be monitored by Hoya Staff this Spring/Summer--and he's a 6'10 athletic/physical prospect with nice upside--a bit new to game. Also keep an eye out on these kids--some are underclassmen --Rodney McGruder--Archbishop Carroll--DC Assault --Maurice Creek--Oxon Hill--Triple Threat --Josh Hairston--DC Assault What year are these guys?
