Surprise, Gottlieb not a big Monroe fan: insider.espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/blog?name=ncbexperts&id=5161400Greg Monroe does not want to be a superstar. While he is very smart, savvy and skilled, his lack of aggressiveness in terms of demanding the ball and taking over in key situations is at least troubling. While Monroe fits in well as a power forward right now, he is not a great or explosive athlete. He is much more finesse than physical and he can get "punked" by lesser, more aggressive foes. I'd like Mr. Mastercard here to explain to us (and his readers) what precisely "getting punked" means and what evidence he has that Monroe "gets punked." Last time I checked Ashton Kutcher was not in the NBA. "getting punked" can mean several things in greg's case. 1 being no ncaa wins in his gtown career after coming in as the #1 "big man" in the country......... For Greg's sake I PRAY that he is not drafted by philly

compared to the past; he was and never will be a true hoya in my mind, but maybe we are living in a time where the definition of a hoya basketball player is changing................ Who are you to judge who is a "true" hoya. What a stupid thing to say. Was Iverson a "true" hoya? JYD? Sweetney? yes. all 3 of them were true hoyas

I don't think Hank will redshirt this year, he wouldn't last year, so why would he this year? Much more likely to move on to an offensive system that he is better suited to play in. My thoughts exactly. If the system stays, henry is simply wasting his time and talents. III needs to throw the kid a bone and alter the O to match his talents or let the kid move on and have a chance to have a respectable college playing career. He remains lost in the current system

It is quite here because the board has become a joke and a "homer board." Too much regulation and "parenting" by the MODs and there are 5 "sub" boards dedicated to sports. Why? It makes no sense, imo. Basketball, Recruiting, Football ,GU Sports , and Pro & Coll should all be on the same page. why make sports fans/users shuffle through five different boards???
Simple--because enough people complained that extraneous posts about football, lacrosse, politics, etc. were getting in the way.--Admin
Additionally, if your post does not have a "homer" tone to it, it is subject to be deleted or challenged as if the author wished death to the players and coaches . The fact that players nor the coach can be criticized it a complete joke. If the players and the coaches could not handle criticism, they would not be coaches or players at such a high level. criticism DOES NOT equal disdain or dislike.
And yet, some others think the board is too negative. Which one is it?--Admin

Hopefully the men's team will watch and take note of Brittney Grinner's intensity.

Monroe had 29pts & 16 rebounds in the 1st Nova game and had 19pts and 8 rebounds in game 2. It's cliche at this point, but numbers (or as some put it, Dungeons and Dragons statistics ) don't always tell the whole story. Omar DOMINATED today, and the way he did it was the way Greg should've twice this year. That is, make STRONG moves TOWARDS the basket from beginning to finish. Power up over smaller defenders repeatedly until they can prove they can stop you (Nova never could). What Saint Mary's did today was exactly how you beat Nova... you pound them inside because they have no interior defense to speak of and don't fall for the inevitable Scottie BS on the offensive end. And, in case you wanted numbers... consider this: in our 2nd game against Nova (which we won), Greg shot 4 for 9 from the field and accumulated 15 FT shots (many of which came after Nova started intentionally fouling every possession with 10 minutes go in the 2nd half). The rest of the team shot 23 for 39 (59%) from the field. In today's game vs. Nova, Samhan shot 13 for 16 from the field and 6 of 8 from the line to get his 32 points. The rest of his team shot 11 for 34 (34%) from the field. And Greg still turned the ball over 5 times in each of our games vs. Nova, Samhan had 3 today. I'd say Samhan was far more impressive today and had FAR less help than Greg. Is that to say Samhan's the better player? Not at all. I was just merely pointing out that how Samhan played today is exactly how Greg should play against ANY team he can exploit with his skill/size combination on a CONSISTENT basis, and how great players should have games where they single-handedly will their team to victory when no one else is playing well. On the flip side, for example, you can just look at his 19/13/6 stat line from Thursday and say he "dominated" in a game we lost when he really didn't and numbers didn't tell the whole story. +3!! AND 1!!! Post of the century!!!!!!!!!!!!!
