Time for the ex Parade AA to harness his talent.
Just figure out your defensive positioning Henry and you'll see tons of time and be huge for us next year. I'll be rooting for you.
Even w/o GM, having a JV/Lubick/Moses/Sims/Jerrelle gives us some versatile options up front with serious potential (not to mention nobody will question our 4/5's toughness).

If there's any good to come of today's decision, maybe it is that we "open up" our lineup a bit, when it seemed like JT3 was locked into the same starting lineup for next season (at the expense of defense).
Maybe we look more seriously at going bigger and moving Jason to the bench, for example. Maybe Lubick can earn a spot alongside Henry in the frontcourt and push Julian. Not saying I want any of that to happen - only that some players may see PT opening up and may react better to it than others.

Its funny how things work out. Due to transfers and decommits the Hoyas have been one or two players short of a great team since the final four team. Even with the final four team you could say the Hoyas were missing that explosive guard like Wright that would have put them over the top of Ohio State. Monroe's departure makes the Hoyas thin and inexperienced at the big forward position. The only person that is projected with the ability to handle that position is Lubick and he will be a freshman. The rest of the big men 6'8" plus are really projected as centers in this system. That includes Sims, who I hope the experiment to make him a 4 has ended. I ,like others, am tired of "small ball" and hope there is no idea to play Hollis at the 4 position. I think it would be worse than the Summers experiment. The irony is that the Hoyas have been sending big men to the NBA the last 4 years yet the strentgth of the team has been increasingly guard oriented. The system developes big men's ability to pass, handle and shoot the long ball, but because of the things noted earlier the Hoyas have not had a 4 and 5 with the abilites of Roy and Jeff to play at the same time since they left. Maybe Abraham and Lubick will be that 4 yeat tandem.

Just to keep perspective in the wake of greg's decision, my money says that next year's team will have a deeper tourney run then this year's team.
I like the fact that Nate will likely now get starter minutes and that Henry will have a real opportunity to contribute.

We better have a longer tournament run than this year considering we didn't have a tournament run, just an appearance. Losing in the first round would be an epic disappointment and Hoyatalk would likely crash/be shut down by the Mods. Anti-jinx, anti-jinx, anti-jinx

Between Swagman (or do you spell that #swagman...social networking is hard ), Regularman, The Vanilla Guerilla (his idea, not mine), The Benimonster, and a dude whose actual name is Moses Abraham, apparently our 2010-2011 frontcourt is The Justice League. Are they any good? No idea. Sure will make a good poster. My only prediction--the Henry Sims obsession among Kenner League watchers grows sooooooooo much more over the top this summer. SIDE NOTE: I'm gonna go ahead and stamp The Justice League with one of these ---> (TM). Feels like I haven't come up with a decent nickname since Good/Bad Brandon.

Sims looked so lost last year, that he played less and less. Can u imagine are D and rebounding last yr without Monroe. Hopefully the freshmen can step up or the NIT will be a serious possiblity!

If there is anything that this team has now - which it may not have had with Monroe coming back - it is certainty. This team IS Wright and Freeman's team. They need to produce - consistently and at a high level. Throw in Starks, Clark, Thompson & hopefully a little Vee and Bowen - and you have a loaded backcourt that is without a doubt this teams strength. I really like the frontcourt freshman we are adding as they seem tough. Total confidence in JV next year - and if the other guys are willing to bang - I think this team could be great.
It will be interesting to see how JT3 adjusts to the team this year. This is the first year since he has been a head man at G'Town where he will not have an uber skilled big man in the offense. He had Jeff, then Roy, then Greg. I don't see any big on the current roster I really want handling the ball on offense aside from post ups and put backs. It will be interesting to see if he tries to mold JV or Nate(who I think has the potential to join the former list, but will just be a freshman) into the high post distributor, or if he goes to a more space, drive and kick type offense. Personally - I would love to see a lineup of Wright, Starks, Freeman, JV and (Nate-Simms) out on the floor. I think the drive and kick potential with those three guards would be essentially unstoppable. You could even go Hollis at the 4, and the our three point shooting on the floor gets to be ridiculous. Obviously defense is that lineups downfall - and I am not sure how you remedy that. Maybe just foul every possession hoping for a steal - ie Villanova - or full court press? I really don't know.
It will be a fun season next year because this team has options in terms of line ups and style of play - but one certainty is that Wright and Freeman will be our leaders and will be the focus of whatever we do. Huge opportunity for both of them to really shine - and I expect they will.

I expect Nate to a beast. Henry is the guy I hope becomes one -- hence the title.
Vanilla Guerilla is a freaking AWESOME nickname.

No disputing that Simms looked lost at times last year - but does anyone remember Roy his freshman year? The kid looked terrible. The difference is that Roy had to play as we had no one on the roster except for him. Simms on the other hand only gets 5 minutes here and 2 minutes there. Game experience is all that Simms needs. The kid has as much heart and fight as you could ask for - I expect that he is putting in the work, and while he may have some early season growing pains, game experience is what will ultimately pull him to that next level.

My only prediction--the Henry Sims obsession among Kenner League watchers grows sooooooooo much more over the top this summer. this is a very astute prediction. Henry and JV both, I think. They are both blue-chip recruits, now with 2 years in the system. Need them both to rise to the occasion. The Sims Kenner watch starts now -- can't teach 6'11. work hard this offseason Henry!!!
