Henry's problems were mental - things like defensive spacing and recovery. Even in the short time he was on the floor it was apparent he could swat shots and intimidate and on offense could make some nice passes and pull some boards. Even if all he does is improve his ability to keep up on defense all those things will be very valuable for us. We don't need Henry to be Greg or even Julian from this year. We just need him to be another part of the phalanx of talented hard working big men we should be able to throw at teams next year.
The idea that the 'system' doesn't work for henry is nonsense. The system has nothing to do with getting lost on defense, something that our entire team seemed to do at times last year. Additionally, it can highlight some of Henry's best offensive attributes - passing and the mid range/outside shot he supposedly has.

Between Swagman (or do you spell that #swagman...social networking is hard ), Regularman, The Vanilla Guerilla (his idea, not mine), The Benimonster, and a dude whose actual name is Moses Abraham, apparently our 2010-2011 frontcourt is The Justice League. Are they any good? No idea. Sure will make a good poster. My only prediction--the Henry Sims obsession among Kenner League watchers grows sooooooooo much more over the top this summer. SIDE NOTE: I'm gonna go ahead and stamp The Justice League with one of these ---> (TM). Feels like I haven't come up with a decent nickname since Good/Bad Brandon. With others concerned that The Justice League just isn't that original, perhaps we can point to the great statement of fact that "God's on our side" and recall the great "What are you gonna do about it?" style arrogance of Hoya Paranoia in the '80s and call them The Divine Justice League? If nothing else, I'd love to throw that out at Notre Dame.

I would not be surprised if Henry starts. Without Monroe this will be a guard-oriented offensive team with the bigs primarily expected to defend, rebound, make layups and dunks when they get them. Henry had good defense and rebounding stats and will be needed in the paint.

Henry was the most athletic and best shot blocker of all the bigs last season. His skill level isn't as high as Greg's obviously but its at least a sgood as Julian's. He needs to gai strength. Most of all he needs to gain confidence. This is only going to happen if III gives him time and stops pulling him every time he makes a mistake.

My guess for who's the fifth starter is Henry if he can win tip-offs. By the 17 min mark, Hollis and Nate will have checked in. With HS, JV, NL and JB, plus HT and MA, JT3 should have a sub pattern with players coming and going all the time, playing to their strengths defensively and offensively.

I don't see Henry being able to start in November, just toom much work to do for him to get there that quickly. And while JTIII does use the OOC games for some testing, I don't think he is just going to throw Henry in from Day 1 if he isn't ready. At the same time, he will certainly get his chances for more minutes, and IF he develops throughout the season, he could move up in the rotation, and maybe even start, by January. I also doubt we will see a situation like this year, with the same starting 5 virtually all season. We will have some woeful offensive deficiencies up front, and Coach amy do a lot of mixing at the 4/5 to try to take advantage of matrchups, and also to reward the guys who work the hardest and develop the most. Julian, Henry, Benimon, Lubick and even Moses could all have starts next season depending on how they progress.

He's beyond needed. He's the only really tall guy we have, and could greatly help the defense even if I suspect he will never be a strong defensive rebounder (he is a pretty good offensive rebounder).
I don't need much offense from him. But the team needs him on the floor.
Unlike Frazier, I don't think he's that far away. It's doable over the six months until the season. But he's got to make the improvements that haven't happened yet.

I don't understand how Henry could start next year, when he barely saw the floor.
Its the equivalent last year, saying Nikita would have started this year, when Nikita had shown very little to support such a claim.
I think if Henry could give us next year what Benimon gave us this year, it would be a marked improvement for Henry.

Ironically Nikita started quite a bit before he transferred. It was Hollis Thompson that limited his chance of starting. In the same vein, if Greg stayed, Sims had little chance of starting, but Greg leaving creates opportunity. Plus, you know, players can improve.

It would take a monumental improvement to get there in the next 7 monthes, including only a month of official practice. I suppose it is possible, but I still think the most realistic hope is that Henry can be a solid contributor in the OCC schedule, with continued improvement over the season with more playing time.

I don't think Hank will redshirt this year, he wouldn't last year, so why would he this year? Much more likely to move on to an offensive system that he is better suited to play in. My thoughts exactly. If the system stays, henry is simply wasting his time and talents. III needs to throw the kid a bone and alter the O to match his talents or let the kid move on and have a chance to have a respectable college playing career. He remains lost in the current system Really, you want to change the offense to suit the third player off the bench last year?

At this point, its wishful thinking that he would start next year at the onset.
Yes, players can improve.
Right now, Henry can't play at this level. Right now.
From being unable to contribute for 2 years to a starter the very next year, is a stretch.
playing 10-15 minutes a game as a role playing big man where he could block a shot here, get a few rebounds there, spare some minutes for our big men...would be a resonable goal for Henry next year.
now, it would be great if he had a Charles Smith like transformation next year.
but, i think at this point, Henry could aim for the Cheik Ya Ya- Diaw path.

The change the offense to suit Henry's offensive talents reminds me of Omega's criticism of the system.
I like Henry, and think he can contribute. But he has no low post game I've seen, an outside shot that looks nice but doesn't go in a lot and no real ability to face up. What he is best at is finishing close in (like 90% of basketball players) and offensive rebounding.
It's not the system, he's just not a good offensive player yet. Let him play D, make him cut to the hoop and crash the boards, and I think he can contribute.
I feel like we're having the Macklin discussion all over again, except Henry both got less time than Macklin and is more comfortable further from the rim.

I just want Regularman to become a regular in the box score next year.
