I've posted this link in previous years. It's kind of interesting. The formula has been tweaked, and with the new adjustments, it would have successfully predicted over 97% of the bids over the 9 year period since they first came out with the formula. That works out to an average of missing on ony 1 spot per year. www.unf.edu/~jcoleman/dance.htm

He de-committed over the summer, and when Bruce Pearl was out of the country. Hilarious. Indiana wants him, Kentucky wants him and UConn's trying hard, although the Huskies want Brandon Knight, (a freaking stud), and Corey Joseph, (another freaking stud), more than Selby I know this is "high on your list" but since you brought it up, Florida is on Brandon Knight's very short list. One site -- can't remmember if it was scout or rivals -- had taken Duke off, and the comment was "down to Florida and UConn." Given Calhoun's problems, that might favor the Gators.

from dictionary.com:
spell 1 (spìl) v. spelled or spelt (spìlt), spell·ing, spells
v. tr.
To name or write in order the letters constituting (a word or part of a word).
To constitute the letters of (a word): These letters spell animal.
To add up to; signify: Their unwise investment could spell financial ruin.
Right you are old chap. I now stand corrected. Although I think the modern version of "spelled" is far more widely accepted. Still, I can't argue with you and I am man enough to admit it, unlike certain others who just disappear or change the subject when proven wrong.

The Gainesville Sun is now announcing the hire of Austin. So "we" can all sleep soundly now.

I know you all are likely on pins and needles now ... but still no official word from UF on the DC hire. In fact, the official word denying a deal look conspicuously uncertain. I'm still hearing some talk of Michael Barrow, of Miami Hurricane fame, being in the mix. Personally, I would love that selection -- not to say that I wouldn't like the Teryl Austin hire though.

That doritos commercial, like all of them this year was terrible. Especially the Audi green police ad that is sadly where our country is really heading Actually, even though it wasn't anything tremendously novel or dynamic, I actually liked the "don't touch my momma and don't touch my doritos" ad. Also, it was really loud where I was during the "shock collar" commercial, but everyone seems to be talking about it. Lastly, even though it was the "most viewed" ad, the people I have talked to have little memory ... (pausing for incoming RDF Cheech and Chong joke) ... of the Doritos ad featuring the guys in the gym.

Stig quoted:
"The general manager of the Chilean mint has been dismissed after thousands of coins were issued with the name of the country spelt wrongly."
I'm not sure if this was part of what you were implying. But I don't think you can use "spelt" in that context. I could be wrong and I'm sure that many will be quick to point it out, but if you use "spelt" then I think it would need to be something like "had been spelt wrongly." Even so, it is awkward at best. Then again, there is somewhat of a natural pseudo-pun there with the impression of "smelt." But I don't think they are that creative, even though you clearly are.

In all seriousness, I would be interested in hearing what facts lead you to this viewpoint. We all know that RDF has such a view, but has mysteriously misplaced the evidence.

Good math. Although I think the number are even more skewed toward not fouling by the fact that your math assumes that all fouled three point shots don't go in. The possibility of a four point play is further reason not to foul. He did factor that in. Now I don't know how accurate the 80%-20% number is, but I don't have any better.

Wow, that's amazing. 15 teams from "lesser" conferences receiving votes, but not a single team from the Pac 10. I doubt that has ever happened before.

I agree sincebirth. I think if it hadn't had the hype leading up, then none of us would have any idea what the heck the ad was about. I'm not sure whether that works in their favor or not. On one hand, the press that they got for two weeks got their name out there better than any 30 second spot could. On the other hand, for those that did pay attention to the ad, there might have been a stronger curiosity effect by not really knowing what the point was and maybe there would have been additional hits on their site. I don't know which was a stronger effect.

Really? That's definitely a tough chant, but I don't see how it's over the line. It's certainly not like the infamous Steve Kerr/ASU incident, and I don't even think it rises to the level of some of the stuff Twerp fans chant at the Dookies. Ricky P brought this on himself. Slick Rick: If you don't want that kind of public embarrassment, go home to your wife at the end of the night instead of banging some random crazy broad on the floor of your buddy's restaurant. Ridiculing somebody's marriage in connection with cheering at a basketball game is disgraceful, boorish behavior. I'd question the moral compass of anyone who doesn't agree. That the guy made a bad personal decision 7 years ago doesn't qualify as "bringing this on himself." That other schools also have animals who somehow qualify as "fans," much less "students" doesn't make it any better. While I agree that such insults are insensitive, I have to say that Pitino brought it on himself. While I would find it totally inappropriate to rag on Mrs. Pitino in any way, I think as a prominent public figure, Rick is pretty much fair game. If he doesn't want such treatment, then don't cheat on your wife.

Texas reminds me so much of UConn. If you're dumb, and run, and basically make it a game of athleticism, they can play with you and beat you. If you're smart and make them play some basketball, they have nowhere to go unless they are hot from outside. Well said, and I think that is spot on, especially in the case of Texas.

SF, I totally agree in principle, but I think that is the key here. Tebow isn't and to my knowledge has no aspirations to ever be a politician. In that regard, tying yourself to such a poarizing issue is political suicide. In his case, I don't think he cares about that, since to him this is a very important issue that he feels deeply about. My views on abortion differ from that of the traditional Christian to a degree. But I can understand those who have such views. And in his case, I can understand that feeling being even greater. Let's face it. All of us as people could have been aborter. But as someone for whom it was a strong considerataion, I would understand the feelings of "what if" being all that much greater. Still, I wouldn't want to start my professional career with such a controversial beginning.
9797, what in the hell are you talking about? Focus on the Family is a very charitable organization that does a lot of good worldwide. I understand conflicting views on certain issues, but to call them "despicable" is quite extreme. Why do you have such a view?

What was with that tebow ad any way? Why did he tackle his mom? The add didn't make any sense and didn't make it clear what it was an add for. And it made tebow look like even more of a sissy.
You know, it's kind of funny. NOW was very outspoken in their opposition to the ad, well before they had even seen it. They were critical of any '"pro-life" position or message. But after the ad, I think they realized how silly such a position would be. So then they turned their objection to the angle that the ad promoted violence against women. In my opinion, that is an equally silly position. But I guess they got their message across. A friend of mine just last night told me that most of the feeds of the ad online have edited out the tackle. Response to such objections is the only reason I know of that they would edit the ad in such a way.

meyer is a hypocrite at its highest level. all this preaching faith and family while he's shagging a girl half his age behind his wifes back. Is this another one of the stories from RDF alternative universe or have you actually read something on this?

RDF, I'll let you have your fun with this. I can take a joke, and like I said, you put out a bit of effort.
Brasky, you do realize that I haven't had a "prayer request" in several years? Just making sure you are paying attention. In any case, she is doing great and has been teaching all year. I'll let her know that you asked about her.
