"I dribble the ball, and edited." MOD NOTE: nice try. We're permissive today, but not that permissive. BOOO!! For those who didn't see what happens after he dribbles the ball, I suggest watching this: tinyurl.com/5t8hgc

Also, doesn't it start at a very civilized 7pm there?

There was a Paris gamewatch thread for one of last year's games, and that had more precise advice, I believe, but I was in Paris for the BET in 2006 and watched the 'Cuse game (ugh) at a Canadian bar on the Left Bank in the VIIth (I think). I'm pretty sure it had "Moose" in the name, and it was pretty close to the river. Sorry not to be able to remember more than that...but they normally show ESPN, which will be carrying the Pitt game.
On Edit: Hoyals nailed it--that's where I watched. Moose on the sign, not the name...close, so close.

That idiot always calls Georgetown "Thugtown"...<shrugs> they are still salty about Pat's epic SWAT at the end of the game in Morgantown last year. oh well...they will have another opportunity to get beat down again quite soon. Yeah, and that was actually just, um, salt in the wound, because their love affair with Pat began the year before after the infamous "grabby" incident. Some of their message board guys haven't been able to let go ever since. And lic, congratulations. That was a great post--actually one of the funnier and more sly ones I've ever read on HT. That kind of satire would be a much better trademark for you than the normal gibberish. The only problem with the post was that I was more and more fearful to read each progressive sentence, thinking that the next sentence would undoubtedly slip into your normal idiom, ruining the entire post. Bravo for so bravely dipping your toes into the waters of literacy.

4-0, 5-1, finish up at 7-9. It will take a while for me to forgive the '08 Bills for giving me so much hope at the beginning of the season.

ESPN bottom line is reporting that he is being reinstated after a suspension for a "verbal altercation." What a whitewashed load of crap.

disclaimer: the phrase "special friend" can be misleading. I apologize for the confusing and lets fix this thread up. I went to grade school with Jean Cajou. He was in fifth; I was in second grade. their now on to basketball talk Did he touch you where you'd never been touched?

--SIDE NOTE: From the Politico article: "The University of Maryland will not even be in session by Inauguration Day on Jan. 20, since the 2009 spring semester starts on Jan. 26. Lotta good that's done them!

A "dime" is also slang for an amount of really good weed that would make up a good sized joint, sold for $10 -- thus the term, "dime bag." Incidentally, those little plastic baggies that are sold individually at convenience stores in seedy areas are also known as "dime bags," although if you ask the guy behind the counter, he calls them "jewelry bags." Man, there sure is a lot of jewelry activity in some strange places. Do they sell these "jewelry" bags at Speaker City, Hifi?

Somewhat related... I haven't listened to a radio broadcast of a Hoya game in a while, probably 2001. I seem to remember getting needlessly excited way too often because Chvotkin called entry passes "alley-oops." Anyone else remember this? Like "and there's an alley-oop to ruben boumtje boumtje." Is "alley oop" an old school term for pass? Does Chvotkin still do this? No. The use of "alley-oop" first appeared in the 1970s when Will Ferrell began throwing above-the-rim passes to Andre 3000 as part of the ABA's Flint Tropics' miracle run to the championship. "Alley-oop," then, has always meant what we take it to mean today, and Chvotkin is just plain wrong (though loveable).

We are really good, though. I think our starting five is already better than last year's Big East regular season champs. That just may be good enough for Best of the Rest (behind Carolina). Despite last night's production, the bench still has miles to go. Our starting five is indeed dynamite, but depth will be the issue all year. I'd love to be proven wrong, but once we get into the teeth of the BEast, we'll be fighting for every win despite having a superior starting five in most cases.

I would like to reinforce the notion that Slovenia doesn't deserve Jon Wallace.
GUHoya2007 is the HoyaTalk equivalent of a South Park smug sniffer if he takes offense to what is clearly hyperbole meant in jest (or is it?).

What a total bummer. I really do hope that Jon will find a place with a good team for a few years--it's clearly what he wants to do, and he's earned it.
Thanks for the update, robbyt.

That's funny. I thought ed was making a joke about Bill Clinton there, since there have been some rumors about him vying for that seat (I don't know how real any of those rumors are). I never even thought about the "other" William Jefferson. I guess I assumed he was in prison already. Hopefully, for all our sakes, we won't have to worry about Jefferson for too long. This Cao guy might have a chance against him. (OK, maybe not, but I think we can all agree that Jefferson should not be serving in elected office at any level; he should be serving 5-7.) Give credit where credit is due. DanMcQ sniped ed on Slick Willy--just click on the double question mark in his post.
