Duke losing just never ceases to entertain. So is the new rule that calls against Duke are reviewable, but calls in Duke’s favor are not?

Proving that in America, anyone can graduate from law school, pass a bar exam and hang out a shingle. Pro-Trump lawyer Stefanie Lambert surrendered Thursday to Michigan authorities in connection with her 2020 election tampering indictment, after a wild week where she was labeled a fugitive and spent a night in jail after being arrested in Washington, DC. The special prosecutor who charged Lambert in Michigan, DJ Hilson, confirmed that she turned herself in Thursday morning and appeared in Oakland County Circuit Court. www.cnn.com/2024/03/21/politics/stefanie-lambert-pro-trump-lawyer-arrest/index.htmlAnd it's the law firm of The Demented One, Jenna, Sydney and Stef. And a new partner could be the lawyer who “loaned” Hunter $5 million, made payments to Hunter’s ex-wife and his stripper-baby-momma, and paid $875k for one of his paintings.

Should we create a thread for those wishing to debate the plus / minus of the current St Johns coach? Because this thread is about the current state of the Georgetown basketball program. Pick a different venue to argue about somebody else's coach please. Dan: That can be hard because how many ways can you say debacle?

Bristol got the senior night goodbye. Would be surprised, but not shocked, if he returns. COVID free year made senior night a little odd. Pass on Bristol. Brings absolutely nothing on the offensive end. Averaged 20+ minutes per game, shot 36% and never scored in double figures the entire BE season.

Not sure but it looks like Cooley is now dying in his hair to get rid of some of the grey. Other than that, not much has changed with this team since game 1 in November.

I posted this in October 2021: "My opinion only: I don't see how the University's view of the role of athletics and the status of student-athletes can co-exist with where NIL is going and the concept of one and two year college players that don't even have the pretense of seeking a degree. Either the University will need to change its view - which is highly unlikely given its historical antipathy to materially changing anything - or in 3-5 years Georgetown basketball will not exist in any semblance of the way we now know it, and certainly nothing like it was in the past." I'll now add that, with the unionization of college teams, if this program isn't turned around in the next two years, I'd rather see it shut down than become DePaul indefinitely or a bunch of professionals who would otherwise have no reason to be at a school like Georgetown.

Over time I have wavered back and forth on a strategy for next season's roster. In another thread, there was a lot of debate about the "core" (Epps, Brumbaugh, Fielder, Styles, Cook) going into next season. And I absolutely do not want to start that debate all over. That said, especially with four freshman coming in, I really do think it would be beneficial to maintain all of them, keep our 4 freshman, and supplement with the portal. It is unrealistic in this day and age to expect 0 transfers, but I think Seton Hall's example really shows the value of retaining players. I also think we are so used to roster upheaval from the Ewing days, and then Cooley's necessary roster reconstruction, that it seems like not a problem to have wholesale changes. But, I really do think there is value to retention, and that's one thing Cooley has been pretty good at doing. Before this season, nobody on the roster played with one another on the same college team other than our returning players. And I think that showed. That said, I truly think Cooley needs to upgrade the roster and land some high level portal talent. But, I think if we can do that AND retain some of our players that will be ideal. And I think retention will become even more important when the super senior/5th year guys are done and the overall talent pool becomes younger again. And I think there are good reasons for it too: - Epps - We already know he's a great scorer at times. I think if he can be surrounded by better players, and play more off ball he'll do better. - Brumbaugh - He's already shown a lot of growth. - Fielder - More limited than Brumbaugh, but he's also played less. But he's a big who can shoot a three. He has to get stronger and improve on defense (everyone returning does). - Styles - He has talent and has shown glimpses of what he can do. We only have him for one more year, but he can be a valuable piece. And he can improve. - Cook - I am not really optimistic Cook can improve a ton on the offensive end. I think he's skilled but just cannot overcome bigger/stronger bigs like Soriano last night. But, he can improve on defense. I think by writing this post I am inadvertently getting myself excited for a better season next year. But, I really think it's there. I unfortunately don't share your excitement. While your analysis of the players individually might make sense, collectively, these guys are 1-14 in the Big East and are non-competitive on most nights. I don't know why, but the result is significantly less than the sum of it parts.

Cook looks like Hopkins tonight. Lots of trouble finishing at the rim. He’s now 3 out of 12.

This team is the Myspace of basketball. Was refreshing and fun to watch for a short time and now becoming irrelevant and a joke. Last 1 out turn the lights off. More like this program.

Per the Nate Silver article: Biden has done fewer interviews than any recent president, and it’s not close. By this point in their presidencies, Barack Obama had given more than 400 interviews and Trump had given more than 300. Biden has given fewer than 100. And a bunch of them are softball interviews — he’ll go on Conan O’Brien’s podcast, or Jay Shetty’s mindfulness podcast. Or consider this: Mr. Biden has especially shunned interviews with major newspapers. Since taking office, he has not done a single interview with reporters from a major newspaper.

This is an easy excuse. The fact that she isn't real competent might also be a factor. Those white men just cannot see what can be, unburdened by what has been.

I don't deny it's an issue, but I don't think most intelligent people believe it's one the President of the United States ought to be spending his time on. I actually thought this was a fake tweet or prank that was put out by Babylon Bee or some right wing outfit as a joke when I first saw it.
