we have to do a much better job of defending the 3. if we give nichols, rautins, and vanilla ice open looks it will be a tough night, especially considering it's senior night and they need a signature win. that dump will be packed to the roof with idiots. jeff should destroy their zone at the foul line.

You hate to say it, but other than rivalry purposes - which i agree are big enough anyway - this game means nowhere near as much to us as it does to Syracuse. It wouldnt surprise me at all if we lost this one.
I would have to think we own all the tiebreakers with Pitt, right? Even if we lose once more, it wont hurt us.

Fair enough. of course i want to beat syracuse and clinch there, but i am just making the point that a loss at syracuse wont be all that damaging.

True, especially since we can then clinch the reg. season title by WIPING the Phone Booth with the hated huskies next week.

Some things that come to mind prior to a Cuse battle:
1. We need to send Devendork aka "Cheddar Bob" back to the Friggin 8 Mile with some tears of pain.
2. Sean McDonough's crusade to get Demetrius Nichols the Big East POY is going to be sickening Monday Night.
3. McDonough will also mention how "Jim Boeheim is more in tune with CBB then any Coach in Country as he watches every game....."---and we'll have to hear how Cuse is a lock for the tournament again.
4. There is NOTHING like Big East Basketball and to me nothing summarizes Big East Ball then Hoyas-Cuse at the Dome and kicking their rear ends on their court.
5. Hoyas with Cuse and UConn to end Big East regular season--it's time for PAYBACK--and let's start it on Monday!

For me, SU/GU is always the game of the year.........I think the players know this and Coach knows this. Just remember his comment after beating SU last year and comparing it to the Duke win. When you are playing this well and have a big win streak, the last thing you want is to have it end right before tourney time. These last two regular games are VERY important for us, both to ensure the title and to keep the psychological edge going. WE WILL BEAT THE ORANGE!!!!!

Its funny, recently on the Orange board they had a big discussion if they should rush the court after beating the Hoyas. They wanted us to win against Pitt to make it even more important to stop our win streak. Well, the only thing I hope to see the fans doing is rushing to their cars. My bro and I will be in attendance at the Dome. I can't wait to hear the silence we can do to 30k+ that show up.

There will be no court rushing. There will be no 30,000+ celebrating in any way shape or form. There will be no Syracuse victory. There will only be a Georgetown victory..........silencing the Carrier Dome crowd like it has not been silenced in far too many years. WE HAVE TO WIN THIS GAME!!!!! GO HOYAS!!!!

Losing at Syracuse could possibly lose us the BE Regular Season Title. It means everything.

Losing at Syracuse could possibly lose us the BE Regular Season Title. It means everything. And we owe them. We owe them bad. Jeff, Roy and company need to take a page out of Bowman's book and make sure they hit the s*** outta Boeheim and the Orange.

I'm not worried about us being "up" for this game. Our group is competitive as hell and wants to win. We have the mental toughness that hasn't been seen in a GU team after JT2 left.
That said, the matchup with SU scares me. We're facing a mature, well-coached zone defense and a decent rebounding team with athleticism. Roy is ten times the player that Watkins is, but Roy has trouble with players of Watkins' speed and athleticism. The guard matchups are also tough with Rautins coming on for SU.
SU is a better team than they were last year, so we had better be mentally prepared for this thing and be ready for the long haul.

SU does not have a better team this year. They are one dimensional and inconsistent as hell. Poor defenders. They win a lot of games against bad and middling opponents, and mostly at home. We are a road tested team and playing good ball. I don't know if we win- they do need this game bad- but all things equal we should pull away.

SU is in no way a better team this year than they were last year. I watch most all of their games, as I get almost as big of a thrill out of watching them lose as I do watching Georgetown win......plus I work with a huge number of SU fans, so I like to take advantage of any chances I have to taunt them. This year's team has been absolutely awful on defense for most of the games they have played. Rebounding, despite their great size on the front line, has also not been a strength. They have had a number of internal problems, mainly focused around Devendorf and Roberts. Their offense relies completely on Nichols, who is very good, and hoping that Rautins and or Devendorf gets hot from outside. Roberts does nothing but dunk on offense- he has one of the worst attitudes of anyone in the Big East and Watkins will be on the bench within 10 minutes with foul trouble- if not, he does have some skill and may cause a little trouble, but I have faith in his ability to commit quick and silly fouls. They have little to nothing on the bench- Harris has some great skills(and is probably their best rebounder), but cannot shoot from closer than about 5 feet from the basket; Wright does very little on offense; and Gorman has a decent shot but shouldn't really scare anyone. Worst case scenario is that Nichols, Devendorf and Rautins are all unconscious from outside.....that makes this a tough game. However, if we focus on making Nichols work HARD for every single point he gets and make sure we don't let Rautins get open looks, we should win this one. Devendorf can get his points......even if he gets hot for a little while, he is one of the dumbest players I have watched in a long time- he'll make enough stupid plays and take enough bad shots that it will even out or surpass any points he gets.

Please remove this individual's posting privileges!!! G'Town-SUcks IS[/i] Big East basketball. It may mean little in the standings, but this is one of the rivalries that MADE the Big East back in the day. This game will always be big. For shame, Jook... for shame.

im sorry, this is the biggest most emotional game of the year for me personally. The rivalry that is alive here is huge, and i have two huge syracuse fans as friends, winning this game, is more important to me than a lot of other games. Sure we are playing great, but if we can just beat cuse, i will be the happiest man alive.
