That forum is called our junior high board with good reason--it is full of juveniles and fans from other teams posing as SU fans--there is no monitoring and very few bannings. It is Cuse's dirty lil secret. Better boards are the "Scout" board or the "real cuse fans" board.

There are good arguments on all sides regarding tonight's game, but one thing rises to the top:
We Are Georgetown, they are Syracuse. This game is a micro-season unto itself.
It's a college hoops version of tribalism. It's about pride and class and the acceptable boundaries of how to manifest your feelings about a rival. It's about how we view each other with suspicion even at the workplace because of school affiliation. It's about how if the sweatshirts were changed in the "Ohio State - Michigan couple make out on the couch" commerical to GU and SU, we'd turn off the TV (and probably throw up a little in our mouths, and maybe throw something).
The seasons and games we've runined for each other's schools over the years are legendary. Tonight, there's a lot on the line for both teams, but even if there wasn't, this is still Georgetown-Syracuse. That's what matters. That's why it matters to win.

I don't think anyone's posted this yet, but if they did, I apologize.
Rivalry stuff aside, what concerns me about tonight's game is whether or not our guys (mostly the starters) can overcome the heavy minutes on Saturday combined with the quick turnaround and long road trip. I think this team is focused enough to avoid an emotional letdown, but I just hope they are able to handle it physically. Guys like VM, JR, and PE are really going to have to step it up tonight, IMO. I'm aware Syracuse's starters also played big minutes on Saturday and I don't think they're as deep as we are, but they will have the help of their crowd to give them a boost if they need it and we don't.
Also, Syracuse needs this game in the worst way. Sure, the Orange have 20 wins and a good BE record. But with an RPI/SOS of 53/59, a 2-5 record against the RPI Top 50 and still having us and Nova on the schedule, a 3 game losing streak heading into Selection Sunday might have them on the outside looking in. I think they've got to have at least one more win to clinch a ticket to the Dance, and they know if they get one tonight, there's no question they're in. I'd be shocked if they came out flat, so we are going to have to match their intensity for 40 minutes to get the W.

I'd be shocked if they came out flat, so we are going to have to match their intensity for 40 minutes to get the W. Ummmm, actually, this is the least of my concerns....the minutes on Saturday for the starters, that is. Here is why- SU Starter Minutes on SaturdayNichols-39 Watkins-37 Rautins-38 Devendorf-39 Harris-32 Roberts-12.....he or Harris will start tonight, but he could barely walk down the floor Saturday GU Starter Minutes on SaturdayWallace-35 Summers-35 Sapp-33 Green-30 Hibbert-28 SU has to rely on their starters, as Roberts will be limited to injury, Wright seems to be in Boeheim's doghouse and I have yet to see him do anything to warrant getting out, Gorman has 2 games since Jan. 21st that he has played more than 5 minutes and no one else plays. We have Jeff and Roy relatively rested with a deeper bench. My biggest worry in this game is that we come out tentative against the zone (which has been less effective this year than in any year of recent memory), shoot poorly and that SU will be on fire- namely Nichols/Devandorf/Rautins. If all of those things happen, we have a tough game. However, I honestly cannot see all those things happening tonight. On another note, I was listening to some local "talking heads" say that they fully expected Watkins to neutralize and possibly outplay Roy. Surprisingly though, many of the comments from the "heads" as well as fans calling in were VERY cautiously optimistic......everyone recognized this was a VERY tough game for them. They were trying to keep that confidence, but it was pretty transparent. It also got pretty funny when they devoted a whole segment ripping on Doug Gottlieb and some comments he made about SU this weekend after the Providence game. I can't believe I am saying this, but POINTS TO DOUGIE!!!!!! A local Syracuse website posted a 70-67 SU win prediction. Not sure if they realize that would be about the 3rd highest point total we have given up all year. All of this stuff, plus the antagonizers at work will have me turned into an absolute crazy person by tipoff. WE CAN NOT......I REPEAT NOT!!!! LOSE THIS GAME. IT CAN'T EVEN BE CLOSE- I WANT NO EXCUSES TOMORROW FROM SU FANS!!!!!!! Go Hoyas, do your jobs, make us proud, give us the satisfaction we all deserve!!

Just had to add that I just taught my 17 month old son to blow a HUGE raspberry when he hears the word "Syracuse"......it only took him about 1-2 minutes to catch on, so I have the feeling the hatred may be genetically in his system to begin with. OK, so it may not beat the dog, but I was very pleased!!

EDIT: BTW, most are thinking a small crowd tonight--somewhere between 25,000- 28,000. The first-place Hoyas coming to town, it's Senior Night, and it's not sold out? Really? It's not like there's anything better going on there tonight. Or ever, for that matter.

From a Cuse Board:
"I agree. They killed us in the BE tourney one year in the late 1990s or early 2000s with that praying mantis looking guy at the foul line who never could do anything against any other team in the conference."
I never thought of Lee Scruggs as a praying mantis, but it's not a bad comparison
