Georgetown F Egerson withdraws from school.. --------------------------------------------
WASHINGTON (Ticker) - Georgetown University sophomore forward Marc Egerson has left the men's basketball team and withdrawn from school, the university announced Thursday.
The 6-6 Egerson appeared in 13 games this season, averaging 7.5 points and 4.0 rebounds.
A native of Wilmington, Delaware, Egerson has averaged 3.4 points and 2.3 rebounds in 34 games over two seasons with the Hoyas.
"Marc will be leaving Georgetown for personal reasons," Georgetown coach John Thompson III said. "We respect his decision, understand that (Georgetown) is not a perfect fit for every individual and appreciate the contributions he made while he was here. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors."

Ughh. That hurts. Wish him well.
As much as I hate "I told you so" posts, he's been a concern for me for a while now, without any substantial reason.

This is really shocking and a definite blow to the Hoyas. Out of respect for Marc let's not speculate on whatever the personal reason is.

Damn. This hurts. I thought he might not come back this year after the Philly Lutheran info came to light, hoped he had applied himself, liked him as a player. He might have had too far to go. Frankly if he ever got a GU degree it would have been either miraculous or scandalous, given where we know he came from.

Hmmm. Right at a time when semester grades would be coming back. Damn, that's a shame. He is a great hustler and for sure his nose for rebounds will be missed. Good luck, luv.

Probably not a good idea to recruit guys who didn't graduate from high school...

Damn, that hurts. He was really developing nicely as a player. Well, so much for scholarship problems.

Wow. I am shocked.
He must have caught wind of my next song. I just finished 95% of the lyrics and started to tinker with the drum track last night.
Can't really blame him.....it was the theme from the Love Boat.
"Luv, elevating up to grab a board, he'll out hustle you.
For Luv, life's sweetest reward Boxing out or defending you.
The Hoy-as Soon will be making another run The Hoy-as Built on the effort of Egerson"
etc.....
I guess it was leave or be the Love Boat song guy.

We will sorely miss Marc, Tay is not even going to be close as a replacement. I loved his nose for the ball and hustle.

ME will be missed, as he provided energy with his hustle and rebounding for his size. I wish him nothing but the best for the future.
And to respond to an earlier post about Spann getting more run as a result of this, I think it is actually JR or PEJr. who should see their minutes increase. Both will be needed to provide whatever it is the team needs off the bench.

Could this be the opportunity that Dizzy has been waiting for? I think he could legitimately parlay this opportunity into an NBA paycheck. He's got NBA size and quicks. And is there a better player at getting the ball to Jeff and Roy. I project early 2nd round for Sead. Mark it down right now.

Ugh. Loved Egerson's game. The closest thing we had to an old school Hoya. Best of luck to Luv.
As for who will replace him in terms of minutes, I hope to see more of Ewing. He's been very good in limited time since starting off a bit too "eager."

I think this will open up more minutes for Tyler, Pat, and the Ticket, not Tay.
Another hit to the class of '09.
Also, the number of players on the team with cool nicknames has taken quite the hit this year. First the Dagger, now God's Gift. Someone go make sure The Big Ticket is feeling OK.

Bummer, but a lot of people (including me) have been fretting about the massive substitution patterns and this will allow a shorter rotation with Summers, Crawford and Ewing taking any minutes that would have gone to Egerson. While Egerson may have been better than those three people in certain areas, with more playing time for those three I don't think we lose out when all is said and done. Plus it gives us a schollie to offer to someone who may turn out to be a starter, which Egerson probably never deserved to be.

Hate to think about the team when a kid has to leave his college, but this also really hurts our perimeter defense and our rebounding. Pat's going to need to start playing smarter to pick up the slack.
I hope Marc can latch on somewhere else and finish out his college degree.
