Yeah...I think if we have a weakness at guard it is not at the Point. It's definitely at the 2.
I thought we were gonna need someone to step up as a pure scorer at the 2 but if Wallace can score like he did tonight we might be OK without a pure 2.

When did the commentator say this? Because there was a long period at the end of the first half where Wallace, Jeff, and Roy (for the most part) were not playing. Without one or two of these players we are bound to be sloppy, and without all three we are guaranteed to be sloppy at this point. The other guys survived, however, and got great game experience without being able to lean on the junior-class crutch. This will pay off with much better guard play later in the season since Sapp, Egerson, Rivers et. al. now know what must be done during games.

Wow, what game were you watching to complain about our guard play? Our guards were fantastic other than possibly Rivers looking a bit shaky with his handle. They pressed us the entire game and our turnovers were from our frontcourt players, not the backcourt.

"georgetown's guards have been a bit sloppy tonight" -game commentators And the game commentators spoke from the mount and said thou shalt not have a player that can distribute the rock ... what!?!?!? Who cares what they said. They get paid to fill dead space with words ... seriously go away if you think they are speakikng the gospel in the EDITED 2nd game of the year. Btw, the bartender at Mister Days said EDITED! Now that's something to inscribe in stone. keep the gratuitous insults and poorly disguised foul language off the board.

Maybe you can say combo but there is no way he is strictly a 2.

I guess I always figured he was the Point cause he is a big leader on the floor and handles the ball a lot. Anyone wanna confirm that for me?

I'm pretty sure JWall is a point guard. Maybe you can say combo but there is no way he is strictly a 2. then why did he work on his shot 90% of the time this summer and his ball handling the remaining 10%. he considers himself a 2. trust me

really? I guess I always figured he was the Point cause he is a big leader on the floor and handles the ball a lot. Anyone wanna confirm that for me? ok, let me try to explain this using the long version. wallace PLAYS the 1, but he is not a natural 1, and more importantly he does not consider himself a 1. what does being a 1 and a "big leader on the floor" have to do with anything? since when did the 1 have to be the leader on the floor?

i do not know this child, but the fact that you had to edit his post validates my previous post about the old board Seriously, that's all you can say? * * * Just in case you are wondering why people are jumping on you perhaps you shouldn't bait people with a post entitled "i hate to say i told you so................" ... you haven't earned the cred on the board to get away with it, especially in the second game of the season where the team just won by 16.

"Seriously, that's all you can say?" did you expect me to throw back four letter words and insults to a child i do not even know? that would solve things, how? "you haven't earned the cred on the board to get away with it" board cred, huh? that is funny. tell me, how many bus trips have taken with the hoop club? how many miles have you flown to support prior teams? how many near fist fights have you had with st. john fans in the garden? "board cred" hahahahahahahhahahahhahahahhahahahahahahha

I think there were several things we could have improved on tonight, as scary as that can be in a game where we won by 16. But they are the types of things that can easily be corrected (i.e. Egerson launching an ill-advised 3 at the end of the 1st half, Rivers still treating the ball like a hot potato, etc.), and will likely be improved upon as the year progresses. So we may not be as strong at guard this year as we have in the past. But goddamn, did you see the wave of bodies we sent out there? 25 team fouls and only 2 guys with 4. That, my friends, is depth. And we have it now. No more playing 6 guys only and praying no one else sees the court. I think we are going to be okay, especially after Sapp/Egerson/Rivers develop during the course of this year and add some more experience.

mrsixer: sorry to overcall. In fact, having moderated both the old and new boards, there are about an equal number of editable cat-fights from both
dairishhoya: give it a rest
both of you: it would be nice if we used arguments rather than nyah nyah nyah and "I've got more posts than you" to support our positions. (In fact, this is the second argument based on the latter today). I have better things to do than start deleting posts.

its Game 2, edited. Wallace was fantastic, and Sapp and Egerson showed a lot of poise. Anytime Green goes out with 2 fouls early in the first half you're going to feel it. Give these tremendously talented younger players some time and things will really fall into place. Considering the time of year, the venue, the opponent, and the result, there isn't a bad thing to be said after this performance.

whatever Mr. Sixer smoked for dinner, I'd like to have some. I wanted to save my comments for when I saw a game and I saw this one from start to finish in a bar where I heard no sound.
The gaurds were terrific so lay off!. After watching this game, there is no point gaurd in the big east that I'd rather have than j-wallace.
Why? Let's see. Up 60-55, with Vandy on a big run, he hit a HUGE three-pointer off the dirbble to push the lead to 63-55. That was the biggest shot of the game....No. 2: When we struggled to get the lead to double didgits, Rivers came up with the steal and the breakaway dunk. That was huge because we never struggled with them again.
Wallace was clutch. He was a leader. He has a jumper from three. He has a mid range jumper. He handled the pressure flawlessly. He played good defense.
I'm sick of people dumping on Wallace. I've been a g-town fan since 84 when I was eight years old. He's one of the top five point gaurds we've had in the last 20 years.
let's appreciate him while he's here.
