Obviously winning is going to increase attendance. It’s always going to be tough to fill a 20K seat arena, which is why a 8-12K arena closer to campus would be a game changer.
Besides winning and opponent, the other variable seems to be game time. I know that we are basically captive to TV, so flexibility is limited. That said…From the looks of this season, Saturday night is a good time, much better that the super early slot. This is especially true for students, who drive the energy. Conversely, those very late weeknight games are death, particularly against bad opponents. An earlier start time would make a marginal difference.

Simply this fan's perspective
1) 10+ year purchaser of the 10 voucher pack of tickets 2) attended the LeMoyne game on a free ticket 3) attended the Syracuse game with 2 other friends (3 of 10) using the vouchers 4) will attend the Coppin Game via free tix 5) will attend BE Creighton, Xavier, Villanova, UConn (total 7 of 10) 6) will attend Providence with 2 friends (10/10)
7) would have attended the TCU game but was in Philly at the Big 5 Classic 8) would have attended the JSU game had it not been over Thanksgiving holiday 9) Seton Hall game is the same time as Dayton @ George Mason and I live in Fairfax County 10) Marquette game is the same day as the QQQ Classic in Newark and I had bought those tix before the Georgetown Schedule was released
11) I believe the University/Athletic Department has missed an opportunity by not offering bus trips to close away games Rutgers, Seton Hall, Villanova, St Johns
I expect home attendance to increase for the Big East games out of 1) increased interest by Georgetown fans 2) attendance by local fans of the away Big East teams 3) increased attendance by local "Good Basketball and Good Basketball Team" fans
I look forward to the day when Georgetown plays a consistently more challenging out of conference schedule such that local fans would want to attend those games
I look forward to the day when the Georgetown Program has improved their status so that they dont have to give away tickets to get attendance numbers up
I look forward to the day when Georgetown Basketball can host a Major MTE over Thanksgiving or Christmas Holidays consisting of 4 at least Top 50 teams
until we reach those levels I will continue as a 10 pack voucher buyer and see 5-10 games of personal interest per season

Ed has to understand that good turnout from opposing fans is the harsh reality of coaching in Washington DC. Given the high amount of transplants here and the proximity to New York and Philadelphia, you're always going to see a lot of opposing fans here. Anyone who's been to a Wizards, Nats, or Commanders game has experienced it. The Caps are somewhat immune to it.
That's not to say that hearing "Let's go Orange" in your own building isn't embarrassing, but he's got to get past that. Also, CapOne is a huge arena(20K seats). You can't fill it exclusively with Georgetown fans.
He's not in Providence anymore.

so far I think the attendance has been about as good as it can be all things considered. We can't play games like Coppin at Cap One. It's insane. The mid-week OOC games have to be on campus and filled with students. This year that is Le Moyne, Merrimack & Coppin. At a minimum, those have to be on campus. Having 3000 people while giving away tickets to a mid-week low tier team is dumb. With all the dust up over Leonsis, DC & Nova right now, we should be able to have some flexibility there.

Coppin State tomorrow on a Tuesday at 8:30 in the Holiday season during finals is gonna be a challenge attendance wise — the Merrimack game may end up looking like a robust crowd. I’m thinking official may not be 2500 and even then may be that “high” only because Coppin State is local (Baltimore) and will bring some bodies…

It was the last Big East GU/Cuse game and, perhaps given what we thought at the time, the last one ever. And, the Hoyas were playing for the BE regular season championship. It was packed and awesome but there were also a lot of Syracuse people there, too.

I will be “two” — since against all odds my better 9/10ths has just agreed to attend!

Syracuse fans are always getting into the building. The best care scenario is that the majority of Orange fans have to settle for 400 level tickets instead of lower level.

Does anyone believe there was 2900 in attendance? As the old TV commercial said, "You Make The Call..."
