With Villanova locked in as the 6 seed and Georgetown at 11, this will likely be the end of the 2022-23 season, agony extended, or possibly both.

This once proud program is a disgrace and it's far deeper than just being a horrible team. It's a case study of crony corruption. No one is qualified, everyone is more interested in the family than the program, Ronny runs around like a dictator threatening media and fed-up fans, Jack telling us its not Ewing's fault while operating the program in a sketchy way - barely acknowledging Ronny, never acknowledging a horrendous Ewing extension that made it tough to move him.
Everything is a combo of lies, misplaced blame, no transparency, crony corruption, zero accountability, players quitting, and a lack of honesty in dealing with fans. All this on top of being one of the worst teams in the history of major conference NCAA basketball.
Any good sports fan should be able to take losing. I certainly can. But I won't stand for this.
To hell with what they have done to our once proud program in the name of their failed family business and to hell with this era of G-town basketball.
May Villanova bring a swift and merciless end to it.

Villanova is going to steam roll us with Moore back and that is a good thing. This season can't end soon enough. Just clean out the desks now please and change the locks. If only Anglin would have been developed this year there would have been something to look forward to next year (same for Bass).

I hate to catch Villanova when they are coming together. A win over the Wildcats always is nice. I hope the team shows some pride and plays their hearts out after last night's mess.

Maybe if Georgetown announces prior to the game that Ewing is done then maybe, just maybe, the team puts out some great superhuman effort and loses by less than 10. However, in the words of the great Clubber Lang, I think the much more likely outcome is, "Pain."

I am no fan of Ewing at this point but still really wish GU would announce his departure prior to this game so he can get a nice sendoff at MSG. This year (and last) has been awful but it would be a good way to ensure this thing doesn’t end entirely awful. There is no logical reason for not announcing this in the next 6 days, and yet I have no faith GU will make the correct decision.

No reason not to announce it before--- impossible that it could have a more negative impact on team morale than currently exists. A few St. Johns and Knicks fans will give him a nice ovation and we can all move on.

I am looking forward to Villanova ending Ewing's NCAA coaching career, in a similar way to how they ended his NCAA playing career. Except instead of 66-64, I hope we lose 166-64.
Look, I am not a fairweather fan. In my sports fandom, I've endured some terrible SF Giants, 49ers, and Warriors seasons. I came to Georgetown in 03-04, when I went to almost every home game and hoped THAT season would be rock bottom - and it was, for about a decade and a half. Then, I endured the end of JT3's tenure, never publicly calling for his firing but in his final season, privately acknowledging deep down that he had to go (and still traveling from the West Coast for a game or two per year).
While I didn't agree with Ewing's hiring, I was optimistic for the first few seasons. And honestly, that 2021 BET title run was really fun and inspiring in the moment. But now, two years later, there is just ZERO optimism with Ewing at the helm. With a bad team at any level, hopefully you at least have some young guns to give PT to, have them make some mistakes, grow. If you're gonna suck in the present, might as well build for the future. Instead, the youngn's haven't even gotten a real chance (including sophomores Mutombo and Riley). Instead, we're running our "veterans" into the ground, and by veterans I mean mostly 1-year transfers who will probably transfer somewhere else at season's end. I honestly hope some of our promising young'ns transfer too, if only so that they have the opportunity to shine elsewhere, something they are not getting here.
To borrow and modify a couple quotes from Friends: -"It's not that [Georgetown] is bad. It's that [Georgetown] is so bad, [they] make me want to put my finger through my eye, into my brain, and swirl it around." -"Today, it's like there's rock bottom, then fifty feet of crap, then [Georgetown]."
Can't wait for this dumpster fire to be fully detonated and imploded so we can start anew, like in 1972. I'm a Georgetown alum and fan for life, and still love the University, athletics program, and lifelong friendships I've made there. But it's from that love that I must say that Ewing must go on March 8 at approximately 10:01pm Eastern Time. Otherwise, you have lost this potential lifelong donor and supporter for the rest of his life.

So here is the thing, I could never root against the Hoyas, the fan in me wants us to win the BE tourney, I will be there cheering like we have a chance, but reality is being destroyed although it will end my time in the NYC quickly is probably the best. I know its ridiculous but I am actually worried this University will keep Ewing one more year. I cant envision a way they could justify it, I would never go to another game but I wont believe it until I see it. a 75-42 Nova victory will have me leaving the Garden feeling like next years home opener will surely have somebody else on the sideline.

This is why we need an announcement now. Any excuse in NY to retain Ewing would be disastrous, so the best result long term for the program would be another epic beatdown on Wednesday. If they would announce Ewing’s departure before then, we could end this split emotional pulls for fans, and we could all root for a feel good, strong performance to end the season.

We have ZERO chance to win this game. The biggest sure thing the wrong way I've ever witnessed was when UCONN and Kemba Walker blitzed through the BET then the NCAA on the way to both titles in 2011 I think it was; in the BET quarters I knew in advance we had NO CHANCE (Chris Wright had been injured the last regular season game as I recall and Hoyas were just rudderless, even though even that team was able to beat Depaul in the play-in round). And even though I knew the UCONN game/BET was a lost cause we went on to make the NCAA and get crushed by VCU in the opening round -- so considerably different quality of team.
We are 10X more likely to lose this game in my mind, and the question again will simply be whether a backdoor cover is in the cards when Neptune decides to rest his starters to get ready for the quarters when the real tourney will begin for good teams... Can't say I'll be disappointed when this all happens, as at this point I'm just out of GAS (Give A....) I'm not sure what it is, but I think it is likely we break whatever our record is for a BET loss (might be the 17 we lost to UCONN by in '11)

Wright had actually been hurt a couple of games before, and we had been blown without him. We were actually the 8 seed that year in the 16 team Big East, so it was the second round….we did not come close to winning without Wright and also got blown out in the NCAA when he played but was not healthy. But the bigger point is accurate. We had no chance in that game and no chance in this one either.

I'm not sure what it is, but I think it is likely we break whatever our record is for a BET loss (might be the 17 we lost to UCONN by in '11) I made myself curious and had to go back and answer my own question above about our largest defeat in BET history. Turns out it was 18 in 2001 to Seton Hall/58-40; second largest was the UCONN game 79-62/17 points in '11; and third (aptly) was again 16 to Seton Hall in '19/73-57 (so yes, each of our last three coaches are all "on the podium", as it were). On the other hand, our biggest triumph was the 25 points over Creighton in the '21 final; and second largest was the 23 point win again in the final over Pitt in '07 (ah, what a year that was...) I know which of these records is at risk and which is not...

Anything involving the final is not at risk. That worst loss record seems ripe to fall.

The only thing that matters about this game is what happens after it is over.

Couldn't break my BET streak so I'll still be there. Hopefully the NY Post will write a nice obituary when it is over.
