Count them down. We will hurt for 35 more days. Then relief.

Don’t sleep on fact that it will take a week or more to “negotiate” the departure AND conference won’t want an announcement distraction during the BET. If I had to guess I’d put it at more like 45 days (right after opening weekend in NCAA, which may also serve as a bit of a diversion). Not saying it SHOULD be this but who among us thinks this will be handled well?

No later than March 9. Anything later is way too late. In my mind, an announcement should be made March 2 (after the last regular season game), Ewing should coach at the BET and a new coach should be selected ASAP, but not without doing diligence on the best available candidates.

Got to think with the inaction to date they aren’t going to fire him immediately upon the conclusion of the BET game. Probably will wait until the BET is over, maybe even the NCAAs?

I would think that some sort of announcement happens before the Big East or during so he can get a standing ovation at MSG from a bunch of St. John's fans. The priority this season has either been to play contract buyout chicken with Ewing or to not make him look bad - who knows which one is really the priority to the administration. I think they are going to prioritize some sort of farewell over holding off till after the Big East tournament is done.

It would send a signal to those who closely follow the program that change is in the way. Also, it won't cause much of a stir the way firing Ewing midseason would. There is literally NO downside at all to firing Ronny right now.

What sucks is that it must be miserable for the kids that have to go through the motions at practice every day with a lame duck coach that does not know what he is doing. The Administration might think that it is in the University's and Patrick Ewing's best interest to retain him until the end of the season, but what about the kids that actually attend the University and put on a Georgetown jersey? Do we really think it is in their best interest to finish out the next 35 days with the current coach and "Chief of Staff" Ronny?

This is my opinion but it is the way I have viewed the University for many years now….the students are an annoyance to the Administration. They are more concerned with their image and prestige than any students actually benefiting.

This assumes that the kids don't like Ewing and are aware of how bad of a coach he actually is. Knowing that you are losing games and knowing exactly why you are losing those games aren't mutually exclusive. These players might actually like this style of play. If I was 18-22yrs old and was one of the 7 players that plays I would love this style.

There’s actually little down side to holding onto to the current staff till the ncaa tournament unless you want to audition Nicklberry. But my sense is most people don’t want anyone associated with the current regime next year and so auditioning Nickleberry would be a worse situation for them compared to now.
With the transfer portal and NIL and free transfers, high school recruits have little value so it’s not important to get them unless they are McDonald’s one and dones (but that’s monopolized by the KU, UK, UNC, Duke mafia)
The most valuable recruit is the player who has finished their freshman season and would have used up there free transfer when they enter the portal and go to the new school. Those players wouldn’t be available till after their seasons and when the transfer window opens in I believe June.
I believe the original plan was to transition to Nickleberry if it didn’t work out with Coach Ewing. That way they would be able to retain Primo, Murray, E0 at the very least when the coaching transition happens.
The other scenario where your would want to move on quickly is if you really wanted Someone already available like Chris Mack or Chris Beard and we’re afraid someone else was going to get them if you didn’t act now.
But if that’s not the plan then it’s better to wait till the end of the season then looks for a Shaheen Holloway, Brad Stevens type coach who makes a NCAA tournament run or go for Pitino, etc type who has completed their season.

These guys have all been at a high level for years and they know what good coaching is and I guarantee you they all feel sick the first time they get behind the curtain, hear the nonsense that Ewing spews, and wonder how they made such a massive mistake. Ewing's idiocy and the player's reaction to it has been obvious from the beginning. Akinjo ignoring Ewing seemed like insubordination at the time but, with the benefit of hindsight, looks like a guy trying to overcome incompetence and save his team.

Just like we found out from Julian Vaughn about JT3 blowing practice the day before the Ohio game, sooner or later we’ll find out what was going on inside the TAC under Pat. I want to know what Nickelberry was thinking while Pat sank the ship.

Baldwin, on the other hand...I'm pretty confident he knows this is a complete s-show.

Nickelberry is obviously not a very good coach or else he would have had a better record prior to this and would have had better options than working with Pat Ewing in his lame duck year. But, even knowing he's one of the all time great frauds, he still must be appalled at what he sees everyday. He's a complete hack, unworthy of a job at a major D1 school, but he still could do a better job than Ewing if he was given the chance or voice.

I find that hard to believe Zeke But they actually do share the ball. Just not in a productive, cohesive manner. Primo gets a turn, Brandon gets a turn, Jay gets a turn, Q gets a turn....etc. I'm not saying it's fun losing but I did enjoy playing pickup bball when I used to play🤷🏾♂️
