The worst part is DeGioia openly displaying his disdain for the student-athletes, by letting Ewing finish the season. They are left in the dark as to what happens next, and struggle with lame duck coach so Jack can appear “classy”. DeGioia couldn’t care less about the kids.
Typical Georgetown though, students are an afterthought.

Absolutely, while not identical situations, it shows the disdain in how the underfunded football team gets fielded against scholarship teams just to get massacred every year. But then the players also gotta go to their one or two part time jobs to pay for the rest of school since JD just wants those diversity numbers and not actually pay for even part of the team to get them to be competitive (paraphrased from former football player I was grouped with when in school). Such a brave and esteemed leader of the university. Students are just commodities to the administration and some of the athletics people

And what era of football are you even referring to?

I’m referring to around the present as I went to gtown during the end of jt3 and start of Ewing And the larger point being that admin just does the half measure and not care about the student athletes much

Such a brave and esteemed leader of the university. Students are just commodities to the administration and some of the athletics people Playing football without scholarships when everyone else is using them is silly. It makes no sense, has to be dispiriting to the team, and essentially makes us non-competitive. It would be like playing basketball, but only allowing us to take 2 point shots, while everyone else gets to take threes (which is partially what Ewing's strategy leans toward by favoring twos, but that's another story). I truly cannot understand why anybody serious about football would come to Georgetown to play in a conference where the team is playing with one hand tied behind its back, with no real shot at being competitive. The answer would, of course, to offer scholarships. In my mind, the position now is untenable. Either offer scholarships and try to be competitive, or don't and close the program and save the money spent on it. Outside a small group of alumni who care about football, there is virtually no interest. The football board on HoyaTalk, even on game days, gets a handful of posts, and most of them are from DFW/Admin providing updates. Like I said: either pony up for scholarships and be competitive, or don't bother at all and save the money.

23 days to go, pitchers and catchers report today Little relief in sight though (but I appreciate the thought) for us Nats fans. We’ve had and will continue to have the worst run of seasons, between Hoyas and Nats, in sports… Two uncompetitive, hopelessly hapless teams….

In our case, I think it's the fans being hazed by Patrick and Ronny.
