If he didn't announce last night, I don't see how this gets announced before Friday at this point, more likely Sunday. Sure didn't seem like Ewing has actually had a conversation with the Admin that he's not coming back next year. He clearly knows it's likely, but saying he'd be honored to be back doesn't project that he officially knows it's done yet. What a mess

What a mess I would assume Ewing is being careful with his words because he doesn’t want to open the potential argument that GU could make that this decision was “mutual”, insodoing jeopardizing his position that he was fired and entitled to buyout. While extremely unlikely that GU would take that position, I cannot think of any other reason why he would not say “this isn’t working out.”

Ewing is a man of few words which he repeats over and over. Mostly the same cliches. Can’t wait to have a coach that has something of value to say in huddles and press conferences.

Imagine this University handling the program with competence in any way.

While extremely unlikely that GU would take that position, I cannot think of any other reason why he would not say “this isn’t working out.” Same basic logic why Boeheim wouldn't come out and say "I'm retiring" but instead kept saying "It's up to the school." Somebody has instructed these guys to act like they are still interested in coaching so that they are entitled to the money remaining on their contract. If they come out and give any indication that they're ready to retire or step down, they're losing negotiating leverage I imagine. I hate the idea that this has to wait until Sunday or later to not overshadow the BET. It is not earth shattering, we are dismissing a coach who the entire world knows is going to be dismissed and everyone was shocked we didn't ax a year ago. The world will keep on turning and the excitement of the BET won't be impacted one iota. Did the Boeheim thing yesterday overshadow the ACC tourney, are those teams or fans any less excited for the next few days? It's part of an ongoing pattern. Stop stalling and just do it, literally everyone will be better off. I hope today is the day.

While extremely unlikely that GU would take that position, I cannot think of any other reason why he would not say “this isn’t working out.” Indeed, he probably thought 24 hours ago that there was a possibility of running the table, qualifying for the NCAAT, and parlaying that into more time. And even after game, isn't the most logical explanation for his comments that he still truly and honestly believes he can turn things around? He knows he's getting canned. That is clear from the way in which he delivered the comments. Nothing he said is harmful; nothing will change the school's ultimate decision (which clearly is going to be to fire him). I mean, AD Reed's comment in the press that he's thinking about the kids because it's been a long year rather than comment on Ewing to me speaks volumes.

But Reed and DeGioia are not “thinking about the kids”. They are still thinking about Ewing’s feelings.

Given that it is 2 pm, I am guessing we aren't getting an announcement today. I cannot say I am surprised, as it is entirely fitting with the way Georgetown does business. After all, they need time to draft a typo-ridden press release, right?
Can you imagine how much lobbying must be going on behind the scenes by Ronny and co. (unless they've been told already it's over, but I doubt it).

Ewing's mentor invented Hoya Paranoia: my job/contract is nobody's business but mine and the President JDG. Certainly not the business of the press or our fans.
